Minos

Avatar of blood and rage

Lore

The amalgamation known as Minos came to be after the grineer found a data vault containing DNA from a few of Earth's extinct species. In an attempt to create more hardy clones splicing genes with that of a bull and the ability to turn organic matter into energy. The experiements themselves were deemed a failure after the created creatures became too much to handle, feasting on their handlers, and did not succumb to grineer brainwashing or torture. Unable to handle exterminating the test subjects the technicians built a maze to hold these angry beings. There they lay dormant, hibernating, until found by the Tenno. Shells of the personalities they once were the Minos were given life and purpose with the guidance of the Lotus. Able now to focus their anger and rage.

Overview

The hate and anger from the combination of man and bull, Minos brings a desire for blood and immense strength to the battlefield. Using its own tremendous rage to fuel its destructive tendencies.

Minos has the strength to tackle any enemy in a one on one encounter and tricks up his hooves to control groups.

He contains immense amounts of health and is known to run headfirst into any fray.

Appearance

Modeled from the Minotaur of Greek Mythology, Minos is represented by the head and legs reminiscent of a bull with the upper torso of a human warrior in top form.

His eyes glow like fire when channeling his power.

Being an experiment from Grineer technology his head contains a special mechanical "jaw" that can break down material for him to nourish himself and assimilate with. Be it organic or otherwise.

As a byproduct of Grineer cloning tech there are many bits of Grineer armor and tubing that still clings to Minos' body allowing for increased speed of regeneration from consumed fray.

Represented by rage and blood Minos’ stance imposes power and fear on others.

Stats (Base)

Health: 200

Shield: 25

Armor: 450

Energy: 100

Speed: 1.0

Passive: Rage: Has a passive Rage effect.

Passive: Furious Charge: With energy above 50 all sprinting will cause Minos to butt enemies out of the way, causing knockdown and minor impact damage. This changes his sprinting animation to one more imposing showing his intent also adds a 10-15% buff to sprint speed.

Abilities

Consume

Description

  • Minos tears into a nearby humanoid or infested unit using the synthesized organic material converters where their mouth would normally be, causing moderate slash damage (If none are in range will use a corpse), increasing his health regen and buffing any rage effect on him for a time.
  • If Minos grabs a robotic unit the buff will add to his shield and shield regen for a time, as he consumes the shield core of the unit.
  • Holding down Consume will cause Minos to continue to devour the target, causing more damage at increased energy cost until the target has been destroyed. These values balance each other out at default.
  • While being consumed the target is helpless and is only freed on death or release of the ability. The target also acts as a meat shield, protecting Minos from damage.
  • Bosses can only be "bitten" once if applicable with a cooldown before it can be used again. They cannot be held.

Target: Enemy unit or corpse in close proximity

Launch: Press once, or press and hold on enemies in close proximity

Gore

Description

  • On activation Minos will begin to charge towards the direction aimed. Has a small default duration and ends with him colliding with an enemy and sending them flying a large distance on impact.
  • Aiming high and pressing jump while in the middle of Gore will allow Minos to leap at airborne targets, hitting them with the same impact and direction as with ground units.
  • Holding Gore will have Minos continue the charge at a small cost of energy per second
  • While charging with Gore turn radius is reduced.
  • Colliding with an enemy will impale them onto Minos' horns. Only while holding Gore. Increasing the cost of energy per second While enemy is impaled. Impaled enemies are affected with a bleed effect.
  • Releasing Gore with an impaled enemy will launch them in the direction aimed, potentially hitting and knocking over other units.
  • When colliding with a wall while having an impaled enemy will pin them to the wall dealing 50% impact 50% puncture damage. Holding Gore further will cause Minos to impale them over and over with his horns, further increasing cost of energy per second, lasting until Gore is released or enemy is destroyed.
  • If Gore is released while aiming a direction away from the wall then Minos will toss the enemy in the direction aimed.

Target: Enemies caught it the charging path

Launch: Press or Press and hold effect lead by aim direction

White Out

Description

  • Minos’ anger reaches his limit and he enters a state of furious focus rapidly depleting his energy.
  • In this mode the scenery turns grey and humanoid/infested enemies are lit up bright red.
  • Damage received during this state significantly adds to energy, increasing the duration.
  • In this state Minos “ignores pain” adding to his armor depending on energy.
  • Melee kills in this state return a percentage of Minos' maximum health while weapon accuracy is reduced

White Out has increases the potency of the abilities Consume and Gore, causing them to have more damage, speed, and number of maximum targets at a time (1 per rank up to 4).

Consume and Gore count as a melee attacks when applying health returns.

Details: Self buff, can be toggled on but energy must deplete before it can expire.

Rampage

Description

  • Minos gathers his anger into his stance, stomping around using enemies and objects as improvised weapons. While rampaging he is slightly faster than a standard run, but slower than when he sprints.
  • In this stance Minos is constantly stomping forward, he cannot be stopped, knocked down, blasted, or grappled. Enemies that attempt to grapple him get dragged in instead (Including a friendly Valkyr)
  • Players are free to control his direction and jump but he will constantly run forward at a set speed. Parkour actions have much less finesse but are still viable, except sliding. Rampaging Minos does not slide. Or crouch. He has no time for that.
  • While Rampaging Minos forgoes traditional weapons, primary fire will cause him to grab an enemy or object in range.
  • When someone/thing is grabbed primary fire will swing them horizontally while “aiming” will slam them into the ground creating a shock-wave. Secondary fire will throw whatever is in his arms into the direction he is facing.
  • Using these action on an enemy damages the unit grabbed along with enemies hit for a certain amount depending on the action. Horizontal swings causing damage per enemy struck. Vertical slams dealing a set amount of damage on slam. Throwing doing minor damage but knocking over enemies.
  • While Rampaging Minos still has access to his other abilities, and they can be used in tandem with Rampage and each other during this state.
  • Rampaging actions use his right arm, Consuming actions use his left arm, Goring actions use his horns.
  • Consume cannot be held in this state, but one press of consume causes his to hold the target as a meat shield and he slowly devours the target.
  • Gore cannot be held into a wall but pinned enemies are stuck for a short duration. Gore’s speed will stack with Minos’ Rampage speed. Otherwise working the same as before.
  • White Out works the same as before, but adds small shock-waves to each of Minos’ natural stomps causing a chance for an impact proc on enemies depending on how close they are to Minos.

Details: Toggled State Change

Upon deactivation of Rampage Minos enters a state of calm and focus, increasing accuracy and reload speed with ranged weapons for a small duration.

Changelog

2016.01.05 - Added Rampage ability

I am seeking help from my fellow Tenno to flesh out this creature. He is proving difficult since he holds similarities to both Rhino and Valkyr both of which I am trying to avoid mimicking. I am trying to create a concept that follows more of a health tank that doesn't make him invulnerable.

Any art is appreciated if you feel the time to be creative.

As always thank you for taking the time to check this out!

Cool, I've always wanted to eat Technocyte flesh. On a serious note, it's a bit like Rhino but more bloody, I guess?

In a sense, Rhino to me always ran with the concept of "power" while I'm trying to take Minos more into "health and strength". The mythological Minotaur would actually eat humans for nourishment which is where the idea for his first power comes in. Trying to avoid typicals that Rhino or Valkyr already have like charge, stomp, or straight up lifesteal.

Running an idea through my head about goring enemies on his horns. Probably going to sleep on it.

And yeah, he's not for the operators who are faint of heart.
