Should Phage Use Alt. Fire Instead Of Aim?

As one of the last weapons for me to rank up, I finally built the phage, and I immediately (before checking wiki/youtube) attempted to use alt. fire to converge the tendrils.  It didn't work.  This attempt was due to the change a while back where secondary fire weapons (quanta and so on) were switched.  I figured it would have reached the phage as well.  It has not.

 

So just curious, do current phage users think it should use alt. fire button instead of aim button to converge tendrils? I think it would be better for me, but I just got the thing.

 

I do realize that you can release aim and continue shooting with closed tendrils, so that is the conundrum I faced with deciding to make this post.  While it would be more natural for me to hold alt. fire (mouse wheel), that could get uncomfortable in the long run.  On the other hand, the constant zoom in/out just feels odd to me.

not just the phage. the simulor (both variants) should be like that also due to the limited range it has.
