Old Player Seeking Advice

So I've been gone from the game for a long time and I see a lot has changed since then.

I would like to go for a melee based build but have no idea whatsoever how to get there.

 

Currently I have a rank 30 excalibur equipped with these mods

energy siphon, fast deflection - rank 3

redirection, vitality, steel fiber - rank 5

diamond skin, rush - rank 2

 

The weapons are as follows:

 

boltor (rank 30)

mods - cryo rounds, hellfire, ammo drum, split chamber - all rank 5

            piercing hit, fast hands, serration (damaged) - all at rank 3

            speed trigger at default rank

 

afuris (rank 30)

mods - convulsion, barrel diffusion, trick mag, pistol gambit - all rank 3

            no return - rank 5

            hornet strike - rank 4

 

dual heat swords (rank 30)

mods - molten impact, reach, true steel, pressure point - rank 2

           organ shatter - rank 3

           shocking touch, north wind - rank 1

           fury - rank 4

 

 

All my weapons have max capacity 60 and the warframe is at 65. Any advice how to achieve a better melee build would be appreciated, i looked a bit into that 2.0 dmg chart but its confusing as hell. Also im fairly sure there are new frames that are better suited for melee than excalibur.

Actually Excalibur is one of the best melee frames after his rework, you definitely have some subpar weapons though and personally I would remove reflection, fast deflection, diamond skin and put more eff,and power str mods on your excal

If you wish to keep Excalibur I advise you go with an EB Build. which iss

Fleeting Expertise Maxed
Intensify maxed
armored agility maxed
redirection rank 9
rush max

That' gives me a decent efficiency build for Excal. 

But if you don't wish to use Excal then Valkyr is a good option, you can farm her by fighting Alad V/Zanuka on Themisto Jupiter afaik.

Nikana/Dragon Nikana/Mios/Orthos Prime/Destreza work well with Excalibur, max and forma them 1-2 times and add these mods:
Berserker - max
fever strike - max
spoiled strike - max
blood rush - max
maiming strike - max
i can't remember what else is on mine but that's it i think.

This build will not work for an Exalted Blade Build.  Efficiency mods do not work with EB for efficiency.  Duration mods do that, because EB is a duration ability that drains energy for as long as it is activated.  That is how the system works now for such abilities, and only those abilities.  You want maxed (or fair ranked) duration and power max mods for this.  Efficiency mods will only ruin the energy use per second feature for this.

Also when it comes to dam 2.0 is you need different damages depending on what enemy your fighting. Corrosive is usually a safe bet against grineer or radiation if your expecting list of bombard or heavy flame units (can't remember their name atm) magnetic or elec, with toxin or viral for corpus and usually corrosive and fire for infested

Well, thanks for all the advice I'll give it some more thought before investing my fusion mods :)
