What is Purple?!

So running a T4 Ext with myself as Frost and my friend as Savage Silence Banshee, I began to notice something weird. Using my strength build I killed a lot of the enemies, and noticed a few times I would get a purple number showing up among the others during my Avalanche ability. We decided that this could be a critical hit with an ability due to Banshee's weak points on enemies, and I thought I would bring it here to ask.

 

UPDATE: 

It cannot be damage to overshielded enemies or myself, as

A. The enemy I just struck with this purple hit was a Bombard.

B. I do not have overshields during this mission

 

Anyone else seen this before with other frames?

It's overshields. Drones can do this. Just not displayed.

Do corpus have overshields if drones are on them? That wouldn't make sense as they do not have any purple shields from it, just an expanded pool
