2 RafaelFuchs
Status is the chance to inflict one of these effects. They're dependent on the what's on the weapon. You can't trigger a slash proc without having slash damage, for example. Crit is just a straight-up damage boost. A weapon like the Soma is stronger than the base damage would lead you to believe because the crit chance and crit multiplier are rather high. 0 Weird_Stealth
as everyone has stated Status damages is why type of damage is being done, IE Fire, Ice, Electric, or Toxic which can cause an enemy to slow it's attack, or be knocked down, and slowly effect the enemy for a period of time. Crits are a complete damage boost, like let's say your weapon deals 100 at it's fully moded state, and you have a crit of 3.5x, when you hit those yellow numbers which are crits, instead of dealing 100 points to the enemy's health per hit, you're dealing 3.5, if you get red crits, (crit chance being 100+%) you'll be getting 7x damage, so you'll be dealing 700 points to the enemy's health. Crits are always good, if the weapon's base stats have a high crit chance and when moded correctly can have a crit chance of 70%-120+%, it's basically like having a second serration mod on your primary weapon, but with a slight chance of it forgetting to effect a percentage of the rounds fired. I've used a Amprex build where every time I used it, I got nothing but yellow crits, and 1 out of 5 kills was a red crit, which made it useful for higher levels at times, tho it ate ammo like a kid eating candy on Halloween. -1 p3z1
Status means inflicting a target with a debuff/problem. Maybe make them bleed or stagger them. Seen in game with a weird icon beside the damage dealt to a target. Crit/Critical means more damage. Maybe 2.0x or 2.5x more damage than usual. Seen in game with yellow/red numbers. -3 Renathy
Critical damage is a chance that a weapon has to deal increased damage. Status effect is a chance that a weapon has to deal certain types of damage (e.g.: Physical damage (Impact; Puncture; Slash) & Elemental Damage (e.g.: Cold; Electricity; Heat; etc.)).
