Question

So, I recently found a solution to an old problem I had, and thought Im sharing it.

I personaly preffor the normal version, but use the steam one for buying tennogen stuff.

This post is about how to use files from a regular Warframe Installation to update a Steam version, therefore usefull for every player who wants to  keep both game variants updated, without the need of large additional downloads.

Note that my warframe account was already linked to steam as I discovered this, so this should be done first if it isnt already.

You also NEED to have an outdated version of warframe installed.

To do this, Open the "common" Folder inside your steam installation.

Its at:

[wherever you installed steam]\Steam\SteamApps\common

If you already installed warframe through steam and just want to update it, I suggest renaming the existing warframe folder there into something like "Warframe_Backup"

If everything works out as planed, you can delete this folder afterwards.

When your done, find your warframe Installation and copy the whole "warframe" folder into the "common" folder.

Then, go to:

[wherever you installed steam]Steam\SteamApps\common\Warframe\Downloaded\Public

move or copy all the files into the new warframe folder:

[wherever you installed steam]Steam\SteamApps\common\Warframe

You can delete the whole "Downloaded" Folder afterwards, but thats optional

 [wherever you installed steam]Steam\SteamApps\common\Warframe\Downloaded

now run steam, if it isnt up already and launch warframe through your steam library.

The laucher will look a little wierd at first, but after a small (32mb) download everything is ready.

I havent done much testing, but the game started and I was able to buy the skins I wanted without any issues.

I hope it helps somebody and feel free to write a comment if this worked for you.
