Basic Warframe Concept

Our Project 'ARM' Warframe (for simplicity, we'll call him Metatron from hereon) follows the basic law of equivalence of energy and mass (E=MC^2) in-which Matter can be converted into Energy, and in our Warframe's case, back into Mass. In translation into game mechanics, this opens up to abilities for the Warframe to convert energy into objects, and returning said materialized objects back into the Warframe's energy pool.

Lore-wise, the concept fits between the idea of Simaris turning scanning targets (Matter) into data (Energy), as well as Corrupted Vor being able to manifest himself from void energy into a physical being in void towers using his Janus Key, and then returning into energy form after his defeat.

A new gameplay mechanic that would be included with Project 'ARM' is Energy Reservation. Similar to Mana Reservation from the game Path of Exile, any object created by Metatron will cost energy as well as reserve a portion of his energy pool as long as the object persists. As an example:

  1. Metatron has an Energy Pool of 200 and available energy of 200. The skill 'Void Gun' costs 50 energy. When Metatron casts 'Void Gun', it costs Metatron 50 energy and while Void Gun is being used, Metatron's energy pool is now 150. Upon dispel, Metatron's energy pool goes back to 200.
  2. Metatron has an Energy Pool of 200 and available energy of 10. The skill 'Void Gun' costs 50 energy. When Metatron casts 'Void Gun', it fails because Metatron doesn't have enough available energy.
  3. Metatron has an Energy Pool of 200 and available energy of 200. The skill 'Void Gun' at 400% more Power costs 200 energy. When Metatron casts 'Void Gun', it costs Metatron 200 energy and while Void Gun is being used, Metatron's energy pool is now 0. While Void Gun persists, Metatron has no energy left to use, since his energy pool is now zero. Upon dispel, Metatron's energy pool goes back to 200.

Warframe Lore

Metatron was Simaris' best hunter. Created using the Janus Key as a manifestation of the boundless energy of the Void, Metatron was made to assist Simaris in collecting all things in the Sol system for posterity and preservation. he became the first and only hunter Simaris ever had and needed then, executing his task dutifully and efficiently. Lost during the Betrayal, Simaris has longed to have his greatest hunter again. Yet with the fall of the Orokin and the eventual awakening of the Tenno, Simaris had to make do with all the other lesser forms to fulfill his primary task.

That was, until one creature the Grineer call Vor managed to unlock the secrets of the Void upon his primary clone's demise. Through whispers heard among the colonies, It has come to Simaris' attention that Vor's ascension did not come solely from unlocking of the Janus Key, but from one other crucial discovery: The remains of Metatron; within it, the secrets of his conversion.

It is now tasked to you, Tenno, to track down Corrupted Vor and recover Metatron, for Simaris needs his best hunter back into the task once again.

Warframe Skills

  • Materialize

Metatron is able to materialize objects using energy from the void. Each object costs energy and reserves a portion of Metatron's energy pool (See Energy Reservation above). Materialized void weapons act like channeling weapons and consume energy when used. Any targets killed by materialized void weapons gives Metatron energy. The higher the skill power, the stronger the object and energy cost as well as reserved energy pool. The objects Metatron can materialize are:

  1. Void Barricade: A barrier that acts as a shield. Can Explode for AoE damage upon dispel (alternatively, Void Cannon: A gun emplacement.)
  2. Void Blade: A polearm. uses Melee mods as well as Channeling mods. Kills give back energy.
  3. Void Gun: A pistol. Uses pistol mods. Costs energy to shoot. Kills give back energy.
  4. Void Rifle: A rifle. Uses rifle mods. Costs energy to shoot. Kills give back energy.
  5. Void Drifter: A pair of skates and a rocket pack. Increases movement speed and drift. Reduces Gravity (higher jumps).

  • Simulacra (aka. Synthesize Specter)

Metatron is able to synthesize a creature as a specter from Simaris' Simulacrum using his void energies. Metatron can only synthesize creatures available from the player's own Simulacrum. The specter's level is tied to the player's own MR (just like how it is in the Simulacrum) as well as the power level of Metatron. Casting Simulacra costs Energy on cast and reserves the casting cost in the energy pool (see Energy Reservation above). The higher the specter level, the bigger the energy cost and the bigger the energy pool is reserved. The energy cost of the synthesis is returned when the Synthesized Specter is dispelled, proportionate to the amount of health left on the synthesized specter.

  • Conversion

Metatron is able to convert his matter into energy, and vice versa.

Upon FIRST cast, Metatron's Max Energy and Max Shield is increased by 50%, while is Max Health and Armor is reduced by 50%. Metatron's current available Energy and Shield is also increased by 50%, while his current Health is reduced by 50%. Basically:

  • (Max Energy)*1.5
  • (Current Energy)*1.5
  • (Max Shield)*1.5
  • (Current Shield)*1.5
  • (Armor)*0.5
  • (Max Health)*0.5
  • (Current Health)*0.5

Upon SECOND castMetatron's Max Stats are returned to normal (current energy, shield, and health also follows the same compression / expansion percentage)

Upon THIRD castMetatron's Max Energy and Max Shield is reduced by 50%, while is Max Health and Armor is increased by 50%. Metatron's current available Energy and Shield is also increased by 50%, while his current Health is reduced by 50%. Basically:

  • (Max Energy)*0.5
  • (Current Energy)*0.5
  • (Max Shield)*0.5
  • (Current Shield)*0.5
  • (Armor)*1.5
  • (Max Health)*1.5
  • (Current Health)*1.5

Max Energy Conversion also considers Reserved Energy (see Energy Reservation above). Reserved energy cost does not change, and it is subtracted from the new Max Energy. If the Reserved Energy Cost is bigger than the new Max Energy, the summoned object is dispelled and the reserved cost is returned.

Upon FOURTH castMetatron's Max Stats are returned to normal (current energy, shield, and health also follows the same compression / expansion percentage)

The percentage of the conversion can be increased / decreased by increasing / decreasing the Skill Power. The higher the skill power, the more the percentage of Energy / Shield / Armor / Health is converted.

  • Ascension

Metatron peels off his outer shell and transforms into a being of pure Void Energy, easily capable of demolishing his foes. Upon cast, all of his Shield, Health, and Energy is converted into a single bar (his armor stat also applies to this new ascended single health/energy bar). Any damage taken or energy cost is taken from this one bar. Metatron also sprouts wings and is able to jump high (increased jump and bullet jump height, lowers gravity) and hover (static aim glide that can last indefinitely).

Ascended Metatron is able to shoot a targeted beam of focused void energy. Each kill using the void beam heals his single health/energy bar, but using the beam also costs health/energy. Ascended Metatron is also able to do a quick melee attack, rending his foes in close combat with pure void energy. Each kill using void rend heals his single health/energy bar, but using the rend attack also costs health/energy.

Upon recieving a certain amount of damage from enemy hits, Ascended Metatron discharges tendrils of void energy that seeks out enemies and damages them (Metatron creates X number of tendrils that seek enemies; the more targets there are in the AoE, the more spread out it is. the less targets, the more focused)

  • Passives

On Death, Metatron creates a Void Vortex as Metatron tries to re-materialize himself in our plain of existence. Metatron creates an AoE that increases the damage taken by enemies while in the AoE, as well as slows enemies down. The closer the enemies are to the center of the Void Vortex, the slower they are. Allies that walk into the AoE leech part of their energy to help resurrect Metatron. Any enemies killed in the AoE fills part of Metatron's Resurrection bar. Enough enemies killed in the AoE will automatically resurrect Metatron. This passive skill is effected by Power Range and Power Strength.

Any CC, Feedback, or Questions are appreciated.
