Dojo overhaul question

My clan is gonna go through major changes with the dojo, and the main thing i want to change is the cross connectors, i want to replace them with the nice gardens, i just like the feel of them, but the question is

If I destroy the cross connector will anything happen to the surrounding rooms? Am i even able to destroy a cross connector with connected rooms?
