Melee combo counter

I know that you can only see the count when the melee weapon is equipped. But does the damage multiplier only take effect when the melee weapon is equipped?

I'm wondering if mods like Blood Rush are only effective when the melee weapon is equipped?

i thought that at first too.. but no, quick melees count towards it too. as do mods ;-)

Now, combos requiring your melee to be drawn can sometimes have additional damage, so they would not benefit obviously

Worry not, Quick Melee attacks contribute towards the combo counter AND benefit from it, Blood Rush, Body Count and Weeping Wounds work perfectly well in Quick Melee. :)
