What would you guys think of this?

let me give you an example

PRIMED CHAMBER MOD

level 0 (unranked mod) first shot in new clip gives +10% bonus damage

level 1 first shot in new clip gives +25% bonus damage

when leveling to level 2 a window will pop saying "leveling this mod to level 2 will change its attributes  are you sure you want to continue?

level 2  all shots in a clip have +5% chance of bonus damage

level 3  all shots in a clip have +10% chance of bonus damage

what do you think?

So we don't have 50 mods that do pretty much the same thing?

How does this fix that issue at all? It just means that you have 50 mods that do pretty much the same thing except if you upgrade them past a certain level they pretend to be another mod.

I for one really like the idea. +1.

Think of it this way. We can do away with the 3 elemental mods, Fire, Ice, Electric, combine them into one rank 3 mod. Rank 1 would do say...35% fire damage. Upgrade to rank 2 it would then do 25% Fire damage and 25% Ice Damage, and at rank 3 do 30% Fire, Ice, and Electrical damage.

Or, using the OP's example, it could get rid of the potential of mods that could be duplicates. Like say combining Fury and Reflex Coil. It also has the potential to be very...interesting.

Say the devs do this, they can combine some of the mods we currently have, lowering the number of extra mods and giving them room to expand and add in completely new mods. Cause right now...EVERYONE pretty much just slaps all the damage mods on one gun, leaving room for like maybe a clip extender or something. If the dev's went and started combining mods into this sort of system this would allow them to throw in mods that...increase accuracy, reduce recoil, explosive bullets maybe, who knows.
