Purple Damage II The Sequel

So, I've been wondering what were these purple numbers that I sometimes see popping up from enemies.

There already was a forum about this topic (which has been archived) and I could read on it supposition as what these damages were "overshield" damages (so I guess critical damage on a shield, something impossible so far?) but if you pay closer attention you can see that it shows "100" in both blue and purple (luck?). So it leads me to the second proposition, is this a critical status damage ? Like, a status so violent it will do damage (just as syndicate weapons do). Time to debate it seems.

No, there isn't any debate to be had it's literally damage to overshields... if you have more shields than your cap (overshields) and you shoot it then you will see purple numbers, that's all there is to it.

I typically notice purple numbers when using Ember on a Corpus map and in the group of enemies where the purple number originated from there's usually a Guardian Eximus. So it's probably overshield.

So it's just damage on enemies who got overshields ?

It's not overshield damage. At least, not in PVE.

If this were the case, then we'd be seeing purple numbers literally every time we shoot something standing beside a Shield Osprey. We would also have people able to reliably produce purple numbers.
But we don't.
