Question about Bladed Rounds? (and similar mods)

This might be a stupid question, but do I actually have to Aim Down Sight for mods like Argon Scope and Bladed Rounds to start working? I noticed that when I have my Bladed Rounds on my Soma Prime that it still shows that Bladed Rounds activated (I have the effect thing on the top right by my health and stuff) even if I dont actually hold L2 (Aim Down Sight) and just straight up hipfire. Does it just work when I kill an enemy?

I don't believe you need to be aiming to start the buff, but you do need to be for the buff to apply.

Okay, true, to clarify: you can proc the effects' timers with any kind of fire, but "while aiming" means that you need to be aiming down sights in order to benefit from the buff.
