When To Catalyze?

Was curious, do you use Orokin Catalysts on up-gradable weapons?

For example I have a Nikana rank 27. I thought about upgrading it.....until I learned I could build it into Dragon Nikana. If I use the Catalyst now, will its upgrade be passed onto the Dragon Nikana or  not?

It will not transfer.

It won't. The Catalyst only applies to the weapon you put it on, and you can't remove it to add it to something else.

The perfect time to put a Catalyst is when you think the weapon fits your playstyle, but of course check for upgrades or sidegrades, and put it on those instead.

No upgrades are passed along if you use a weapon to build another weapon. They are also not saved if you sell the weapon.

 

Also, it's currently possible, and fairly easy, to get the Nikana Prime, which is better than the Dragon Nikana in just about every way.

 

Basically, use a Catalyst if you like the weapon, it has decent stats, and you plan on keeping it.
