How to play Talons secondary?

I recently got a riven for talons (+310% damage, +140% flight speed) secondary. I decided to give them another try. 

I really dont get how I am supposed to play them. They feel like pox but work worse because you have to detonate them manually via secondary fire mode once you threw out four of them. They do also self damage and the 300% damage increase does almost rip my Inaros to pieces. 

Is there a special play style or mission type where Talons will shine?

Let it latch onto a target or surface before detonating for 3x base damage. (gonna be insane with the riven)

Never use multishot mods as you have a cap on how many you can deploy at one time (8), unless you just want throw-boom-throw-boom style play.

Spread them out for larger AoE kills.

They are also great for stealth.

Would say just throw them into groups and make them explode. Not sure how close you need to be nowadays but when i used them as main secondaries it  was almost enough to stay out of mele range. Its a medium-range weapon after all :) 

Ofcourse laying them on the groubd as traps is fun to

First step is not to forget about your secodery fire button and put it at a comfartable place (I use ''tab'' for mine), rest is preaty much what Elvan said.
