How Does Stun Work?

Question

I don't get this mechanic. How does the stun % on mods apply to weapons? Does having +30% stun mod give me actually 30% chance to stun? or 30% bonus to stun chance? I've checked the datamined table and seen no stun chance stat on the weapons, so I'm confused.

Edit: I'm not asking whether stun mods are worth equipping. I'm only asking because of curiosity.

I'm not sure anyone knows per se, I know stun and puncture are both currently seen as not very desirable on weapons.

I'm not really considering using a stun mod. I just want to learn how it works.

I believe it means each bullet has a % chance to stagger the enemy (similar to how some melee weapons always stagger enemies on a hit).

It's not particularly useful, but if you're using a high fire rate weapon, it does offer good crowd control.

I don't think any guns have a base % chance to stun, so it might be additive, just like guns do not have a base % chance to fire more than one shot, which is how mutlishot mods work.

However, this goes against the fact that other mods aren't additive, they are based on the initial % of whatever they are modifying (150% crit chance != 150% total crit chance, it is 150% of the gun's base crit chance.), so it's kind of confusing.
