Overall Review Of The Fomorian Event

TL;DR version:

-not 'nuff info about the how and where of the event

-what little info was given was off

-the way rewards are given out is... AWESOME but... failed execution haunts DE still

-if new nodes for this event open up, most of the rants in this thread are invalidated, but if not, gg DE

so let's start with HOW exactly this event works:

http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Fomorian_Event

refer to that if you dont understand my superbly absure explanation

the event start by killing infested for:

stable corruptors - light infested

alpha and beta corruptors - ancients

you equip these corruptors in your gear menu - ONLY ONE at a time

when you have it equipped, you may now start a fomorian mission which is a sabotage mission, where you insert any of the three corruptors into a console and start a mDef-like sequence of grineer baddies shooshting your guts out

once you survive that, you finish the mission and get

3 pnts if you put in a stable

2 for alpha or beta

7 for alpha and beta

10 for all

these points are operation points

but here's the kicker

alpha or beta work by themselves, contrary to the poast for the event. failxecution DE, failxecution.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

moving on

250 points for all 5 mods will be obtained by top ~500 players if you can no longer get points after a mission closes up. which.... they kinda do o.o

the event was over in under... 8 <--------------------------- yep, 8 hours

now personally i like a competition but this is just limiting the rewards to far too few people.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

overall, a good improvement but the way rewards work is far too stingy. and the ammount of info given out was just failure hard mode from the start, all we got was "kill infested, do missions", everything else in between was "lolwut, figure it out yourself". that, combined with (criminally short) 8 <-------------------------------- yep, 8 hours, that this event lasted, is just slapping your players in the face with a really stinkin trout.

1. Having Beta/Alpha corruptors actually function (to a minimal extent) on their own is not a failure. First off, they're going to result in a longer defense duration. (You notice how the timer you have to defend for goes down the more corruptors you have?) Second, let's say that theoretically, someone who could only solo the event found only Beta and Alpha corruptors, and never found a Stable corruptor. Very unlikely for that to happen, of course... but still possible. This makes it so that such an unlucky individual can still get some contribution into the event and reap a few rewards, rather than being excluded entirely. It's not an execution failure, it's a safeguard.

2. There was plenty of information for anyone who took the time and effort to read the event thread. Kill infested. Get drops. Use drops on ships. Profit. Everything that wasn't explicitly explained was very straightforward. The only possible shortcoming was for anyone who wasn't sure how to equip mission gear.

3. It doesn't matter that you can only take in one type of corruptor at a time... you only use one, and the reason you can't take in multiple types is to encourage people to work together. Pretty straightforward. Use one up and still have more? It reloads automatically after the mission finishes.

DE pretty much nailed it this time around. The event is interesting. It's not just "kill this type of enemy." The event encourages people to participate. It's not just "Here, I'll do my part and then I'm done." The event is accessible. There is a setting for nearly every level range. There is very little to find fault with.
