So I was getting ready to do my mastery test from 7 to 8. I switch to my ember and click to do the mastery test. It takes me to the flying ship loading screen then straight back to my ship, I'm in like a first person mode and I've been switched to my atlas. It said it "already tried" my mastery test when it never let me. Plus it took my mastery xp down to 50%

I don't know if you have tried Cephalon Sim at Relay, you can Practice your test there as many times as you want. You can only Test every 24-hours though. Access the Mastery Test & Practice on the second level of the relay Cephalon room, on the right side of the room are the tests.

I went to the Strata Relay yesterday to rank up to Mastery 12. I don't want to risk being locked out for 24-hours, so I never click on that Mastery Test link in Options.

After my test my Mastery XP showed full still, with Options opened, but if I looked at my profile it was the appropriate number, and looked fine after that everywhere.

So try a Relay to Practice and then Test there too, in the future.
