AFAIK the game engine does not do 4++ players + enemy AI well (AI totally unresponsive, waves take 3~5 minutes to 'load'). Hence why the reluctance to even address central hangout open sandbox areas and whatsuch.

 

So making 4++ player modes would require either:

1) change to a different, MMO-like game engine entirely

2) revamp it with decentralised enemy AI-handling

3) make large area, but disable enemy AI

4) turn the game to server-based AI instead of P2P

 

Do any of that, and I'm afraid the resulting game won't even be Warframe anymore :/

 

I mean, why bother doing standard 4-Tenno cell raids if you can run with an entire Ghost clan?
