Dark-split Sword Eidolon lens not giving any focus

I wanted to give one of my favorite all-purpose melee  a brand new shiny Eidolon Lens outfitted for Zenurik.  It gives absolutely no focus whatsoever, covergence orbs or not.  I have it in the dual wield mode always.  Please tell me this was not a waste of one of these lenses and this weapon going to be pushed aside for working lens ones  :/
