Ketec
A option in settings that would disable hosting UNLESS - solo, clicked play now (and open game) or host mitigation (and only one left). The voting part would come at the end of the round - you can ether have pos/neg or 1-5 scale that each player can choose. The real host would be unknown for players (to avoid drama and personal threats). If a person doesnt have the "hosting disabled" checked and he recieves certain amount of bad quality votes in xx time range, he will be opted out from hosting (xept the solo, friends, invite and such) for a periode of time. Highest votes would get hosting priority, medium ones if no good ones available, Now, when joining a game in progress that was started by a bad host: Automatic mitigation if joined player is a better host? (risks of session failure) Option to switch to solo (not open, would start the abuse of boss runs). soemthign else?
RaianStar
Very nice idea, it ties in quite well with my post (https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/81473-lan-gaming/) as well. I would like to see this implemented. +
Bakercompany86
That would be cool. But DE won't even add a ping display because of potential grief. Just better host selection would help. Most games feel like the host is playing on dial-up in China.
Ketec
You dont need ping display - you dotn even need to know who the actual host was to vote - its a general vote after the round - if you lagged bad, then give it "bad" or 1 - if it was good then "ok" or 5. The game will know who the actual host was if its a PUG (diff matter if its a premade, then you know who it was). Also the game could keep track of overall ping of the party for extra data (to avoid friends boosting each others scores).
Chronodroid
Yeah, now expect getting low votes from people living 20'000 km away and getting matched to you, expect getting connected to very good rated hosts, just 20'000 km away from you. NO. Hosting p2p is incredibly individual. Host is my neighbor and has great pc? heya gg. Host has a toaster to play warframe and his dogs chews the internet cable while doing it? oh yeah. No, the solution lies within the game "knowing" your hardware and setting a benchmark for it (or we doing a benchmark).
Ketec
thats why it should monitor average ping of the whole party and then the average of multiple games over time. If you have better connection o most players fine.. if not then u shouldnt be hosting - regardless of if you can play fine with 1-2 people or not.
