Avoiding Procs With Arcanes "Switches" to melee

When you avoid a proc with an arcane (e.g. Arcane Deflection, Arcane Resistance), I've noticed my gun that I've been firing with is replaced with my melee. In this state, I can fire as normal, but I won't be able to reload until I use a two handed ability, switch weapons, or quick melee.

This has gotten me killed a few times in Elite Sanctuary Onslaught, where I'm suddenly not able to reload my Hystrix in the middle of a firefight, amongst other cases. I haven't explicitly noted and witnessed this outside of Sanctuary Onslaught, I don't believe, but I think I've might've encountered it outside of SO.
