MR locked relays, really?

Sup,

After grinding for prime parts for ducats and logging on today to access Baro I get hit with the "You need to be MR 8 in order to access this relay".

My already wavering motivation to log on just hit rock bottom and I'll probably find something else to waste me time on, Sacrifice or not. This is not a "I'm quitting!11! Why U do dis?!" post but rather feedback to the devs for future players. Weapons and Warframes I can understand (weapons more so than frames since frames are supposed to be equal).

I thought the whole point of the starchart is to let players access whatever they are capable of getting to.

Worth noting is that I didn't get boosted through the chart by anyone - probably can't prove that but neither should I need to.

Now, will someone please explain why the lock? Is there a story/lore reason for this?

Sorry for the double post but I forgot to mention that I'm at the Sedna junction - so past the relay.

It's largely because Baro's stock used to be based on which Relay he visited. The further out the Relay, the more powerful the items he would stock. Nowadays, with his much-expanded inventory, things have been completely randomized. Once the Relays are reconstructed someday, there may be additional justification for the MR locks, or they may remove them. For the time being, it may just be an oversight.

With that said, you really should start working on increasing your MR. There's a lot more content than just Relays that are locked behind higher MR, and with how much unmastered equipment you have at your disposal right now, it shouldn't be too difficult to level up. On top of this, you're already at Pluto, where you can access Akkad, one of the best level grinding nodes on the Star Chart. You're at the point where grabbing a bit of MR is a pretty trivial affair, so don't sweat it much if you're a few ranks off.

I'm assuming this to be the case. I remember back when I first started playing a couple years ago, Baro would bring Primed mods at Orcus, weapon variants at Kronia, and more cosmetic or Sentinel-related things at Larunda. I could be mistaken, since it has been a while, but this is the only thing I can think of that makes much sense.
