Why can't I get a Helminth Charger?

Question

I have the following:

  • fully-matured cyst (with the tendril and everything)
  • access to the Helminth room via the aforementioned cyst
  • a Kubrow Egg
  • an Incubator Power Core
  • an open stasis slot
  • no active pets

From what I can tell, these are the conditions required to drain a cyst for the Helminth Charger. Yet my Kubrow Breeding tab in the Incubator looks normal, with no option to Drain the cyst. What am I missing? (I took a couple of screenshots showing the cyst and the Kubrow Breeding tab, if anybody wants to see them for proof.)

Have you done the quest to start unlocking Nidus with the Peryn Sequence. That might be a requirement.

As long as your cyst is mature ( the full length tendril, not the shorter one ), the option should appear when you choose to breed the kubro,

The only reason it would not is if your cyst isn't fully mature yet, or you went and had it popped in the chair, which means it's gone and you can't drain it.

Note, the option to drain the cyst does not appear until after you start the breeding process.

you think maybe "draining the cyst" terminology, really mean using it as a Imprint to create the thing?

That's what I was missing. I didn't realise you had to start the process and then drain the cyst on the Imprint screen. Thanks.
