Bad connection hosts in public games

I feel like there really should be a system that makes sure that a person who is either using a literal potato to connect to the internet or is using all their bandwidth on other downloads isn't made the host. Getting games where mobs warp around, refuse to die and doors take 10 seconds to open are extremely frustrating and since Warframe can detect connection issues, shouldn't be too hard to fix.

Describe this system, since it should be easy, by your standards.

They already have a system that check connections in place, ie when someone invites you to their dojo to trade, and the game warns you about a bad connection. Based on that, they could make a system that makes sure that the person hosting the public game is the one with the stablest/fastest connection.

How long would you like to wait before entering a game?

No longer than you'd currently wait, the game would just make the person with the best connection the host, instead of seemingly randomly picking who hosts the game.

But you don't want to spend any more time than it currently takes to start a game.

How is the game supposed to know who has the best connection if you want to give it no actual time to do any sort of tests?

It isn't random, it's whoever started the mission and didn't end up in an existing squad.

How long do you think it takes a program to check between 4 variables and determine which one is the best? Hint, it's not long.

When is the connection test supposed to happen to populate those variables? What does a connection test done an hour ago tell you about the connection now? If the goal is to find stable connections, a short speed test is not going to give you any clue as to stability.

Well, since they're able to give you the ping between you and another player when you're connecting to their game instantly, I'd assume they're constantly tracking the connection quality.

So you want to spend some extra time during loading to make sure the best person is hosting the game. What about a better host joining an existing game?
