The potential of Railjack and PVP

So I know that talking about railjack before any of us have really seen how good it'll be is a little pointless, but from the demo we've seen at Tennocon there does seem to be one glaring problem that is present pretty much throughout Warframe.... Replayability.

Warframe is no doubt an amazing game, but the part of its gameplay which really gets people addicted is its customisation and the number of different tools which can be used to do very similar jobs. The only thing that's wrong with this kind of gameplay is that it leaves very little remaining once you've completed all of its contents, which is how we've got into this situation of somewhat of a content drought. It seems like DE tried to solve this with ESO, giving a scoring system and a leaderboard, so that the playerbase could complete over who can get the furthest, but unfortunately it turned out to be more of a test of who has the most patience rather than who has the most skill.

From what we've seen of railjack it looks absolutely stunning and I've no doubt that DE will make sure our first attempt at completing it will be an experience to remember, but once we've completed it once, what reason would we have for doing it again? Give amazing rewards? This was the solution for tridolons and although it certainly keeps myself and many others venturing out onto the plains every night, it doesn't stop the gameplay from becoming stale when it's the same process each time. What about multiple maps? 2 maps? 3 maps? 10 maps? It almost seems pointless to invest so many resources into making a whole railjack map if we only enjoy playing through it once or twice.

So what can we do to make the experience ever changing and worth while? Why not introduce a PVP element to it?

Nef Anyo's ship will be full of riches the likes of which we've never seen before so why would we want to share it? An idea for introducing PVP into railjack would be to spawn 2 tenno ships into the game and once there they have a choice, do they fight to take everything for themselves? Or do they work together to try and complete the mission as quickly as possible. When you spawn into the game, once you see the other tenno ship you could scan it and identify it. It would show the ships name (chosen by its captain) and the ships reputation. Its reputation would depend on previous railjack games whether they have completed it by killing their fellow tenno or by working together with them. It might also show the mods equipped to the ship. You might see the enemy teams ship has a reputation for killing fellow Tenno, maybe they've fully invested in weapons systems but neglected radar, theres no way you'd beat them in a ship fight so instead you abandon your ship and fly behind them using your archwing and highjack their ship sneaking up behind the enemy tenno with your covert lethality dagger and finishing them all one by one then proceed to complete the mission and claim all the rewards with your team.

On the other hand you might request to chat with the enemy ship if they have a good reputation and agree on working together to speed run the challenge.

There could be ques for 4v4 battles where each team uses the ship of the party leader, but there could also be a 1v1 que which works in a similar way, but with just one tenno per ship.

To make the gamemode worth playing in the first place any rewards would have to be worth it. Possibly new warframe arcanes? New mods? Exclusive cosmetics? Anything that would keep players interested and wanting more.

There are so many more things I could write on the topic, but it feels like a pretty long post already. Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated and thanks for reading :)

Believe it or not, people don't actually like their base game environments mixing together. As such considerations like this would have to be purely PvP or purely PvE in nature. This ultimately creates segregation of the playerbase on features on whether it'll be played or not (and what type of rewards you'll get). This particular idea (sea of thieves-like) could be implemented but it would be labeled PvP above all else. If PvP rears its head in a PvE environment the community will light it on fire because people don't want other people getting in their way (or actively blocking access) of the main part of the game. This is part of the reason darksectors fell to a fiery demise. PvP in itself isn't on its strongest legs even now to even begin to believe it would be a good idea to put resources into it. The closest PvP you'll get in a PvE environment is likely friendly competition (still completely Co-op) where you see who can get the most "score/points" and maybe get an extra reward for it. But otherwise this is why nearly every game (I can think of) separates these game environments or otherwise has a lot of ways to op-out (which basically separates them anyway) so people can just play the main game.
