Warframe Concept - Spider/recluse

Greetings fellow Tenno! So at work today I had the idea for a spider based Warfame, thinking it was pretty original idea. Unfortunately I never frequent this part of the forums and to my surprise there is quite a demand for one!

I'd like to shout out to other spider framed enthusiasts especially GratuitousLurking (which is in fact all I do and why this is my first post) for such an awesome and fleshed out idea.

I'm just jelly I didn't post it first. I apologize as I just noticed his original idea was also the Recluse I believe its a great name and subject to change but I'll just use it as a placeholder for now. While spider themes do follow the same patterns I came close to the same ability ideas as him almost spot on. C'mon DE SPIDER FRAME GO!!!

Anyway I present the idea set of Recluse, a utility based frame with a mix of stunning, immobility and crowd control.

Description:

So lets throw some numbers down:

Health 85 (255 at rank 30)

Shield 125 (375 at rank 30)

Energy 125 (200 at rank 30)

Armor 85

Sprint speed 1.2

The basic idea is that this is a slight buff to defenses as there will be almost no direct damage abilities. The thought process is the frame is similar to a tarantula, hard exoskeleton with the ability to move very quickly. With armor being slightly higher than the average frame but not tanky like Frost or Rhino, I feel it gives the option of Steel Fiber more use. It seems like unless it is one of those two frames, that mod gets tossed for other power based mods.

I shall attempt to draw a crude drawing of him asap but let me paint you a mental picture. First off, the frame is male, in an attempt to break the "black widow" or "mother spider with hatchlings" idea. While i do urge the creation for more female frames, I can't bring myself to fall back into this stereotype even if females are the more dominate. To me its overdone and just boring. The frame would be of moderate height, hunched over in the "agile" stance currently in place with the likes of Loki and Nyx. For now, a generic mutli-eyed spider head with a more mix of a cyber spider than organic. Metallic and thin blade-like tarantula hairs would cover the bulbous shoulders, arms and legs and glow, similar to Rhino's midriff. Most distinctly, the frame would have a pair of cybernetic prosthetic arms protruding from his waist. They are to be noticeably robotic and considerably smaller, about 75% the size of his actual arms. These arms house and launch the steel-fiber like webbing that Recluse bases his abilities around.

Now for the fun of abilities!

I'm going to post the most flushed out ideas I can for each ability to allow discussion and variety so I hope its not too messy I'll edit if necessary. Names are just placeholders. I know this community is very creative and I would love to hear suggestion.

1) Web Net

Webs that capture/constrict/stick enemies within 5/10/15 meters for 5/15/25 seconds.

Activates cybernetic secondary arms (cosmetically, energy lights of the arms would glow extra bright) to dispense webbing, capturing each individual target and knocking them back a few meters with an adhesive coated steel webbing. Targets stick to whatever surface in the direction they are impacted and land upon, be it floor, wall or rarely ceiling depending on how physics decided to play out.

I request it be implemented with forcefield damage as it is only on a few weapons, acts normal (no armor damage interaction at all) and allows for a knock back without the piercing damage of Physics Impact. Damage is almost non existent and functions primarily for the knock back

Webs are shot automatically with Null Star-like autoaim. Arms shoot independently with an animation adding a power/warframe cosmetic animation not yet touched upon, the closest being Ash's Bladestorm arm blades.

Here's the kicker: To balance such an enemy nullifying technique, the ability works as an on/off trigger. After activating it, the ability costs 15/10/5 energy for every application until turned off or run out of energy.

Range can be buffed by Stretch.

Thoughts: I considered a cone first over my preferred method of the auto-arms because while it does function similar to Null Star I do not intend to copy it. I think it serves a more realistic function as control over damage to be fair and I for one am sick of cones like Banshee's Sonic Boom. I would love to hear other methods of delivery of this attack, although I hope its similar function is well received.

I also realize this does ease the way for rushers, as with enough energy you could activate the ability and fly over everyone. I think this suits the rush play style but at the same time I trust in DE to fix the overall rush issue.

2) Wall Crawler

Now, Nova changed the game on travel powers. You can't beat an instant teleportation - no going around that. So this power is buffed in the sense its not as simple as Volt's Speed and not, in my opinion, as overpowered as Worm Hole.

Upon activating the power, Recluse shoots a line of web to where ever you were aiming, planting a starting point at your feet. You then automatically climb atop the line grabbing by all 6 limbs (both pairs of arms and legs) and scurry across at x2 your sprint speed. This speed can be buffed by Rush, enforcing that this is a fast frame on ground, and actually makes your travel power influenced by mods like Volts. I feel this is a good way to make utility mods worthwhile and not just energy/power buffing based mods.

Range is 25 meters, buffed by Stretch for max of ~37 meters. If you aim further than your reach the web dissipates.

Now the fun part. Once you arrive at your destined location, you turn from the wall holding on to it with your cybernetic arms and planting wall sticking feet. This frees you to shoot with a primary weapon or secondary weapon for 15/30/45 seconds. Dismount by jumping. Does not work from ceiling to ground, you would return to a regular standing position.

Travel range/speed buffed by Stretch and Rush respectively. Wall time buffed by Continuity and Constitution.

3) Nettle

An aoe stun that sets you up for some crazy fun damage time.

Recluse quickly creates a web around him, pulling all enemies from 15/30/45 meter range. Once all enemies are pulled in, the nettle hairs (the glowing cyber hairs/blades on your body primarily shoulders/arms/legs) are launched from Recluse's body causing an immediate knockdown 3/6/9 second stun. As soon as the enemies are stunned, Recluse shoots a webline up, launching him into the air (if no ceiling is available he gets down on all 6 and launches himself into the air jumping. Animation takes the same amount of time without breaking immersion. We can't web the sky after all!). That is where the power ends, leaving several playstyle possibilities.

You now have a group of enemies stunned right below you, how best to deal with them? Do you bring yourself right back down with a melee weapon and Heavy Impact causing AOE damage? Do you rain down bullets from above with weapons like your Supra? Or you setup all these enemies for your buddy Excalibur to Slash Dash and mow em down?! This ability makes Heavy Impact viable on another frame (finally I say) and lets you decide how best to deal with your prey, or not and let your teammate take the kills!

Range of AOE grabbing web buffed by Stretch. Stun and knockdown duration cannot be buffed.

4)Repellant Web Trap.

I'm really trying to reach for something different so here goes:

Activate trigger, like (1) Web Net uses energy every second it is activated, costing 35/25/15 each tic.

Recluse's extra arms rotate behind him shooting web non stop, leaving a trail. Run as fast as you can making either a perimeter or a wall or even maze for your enemies. The web emits a pheromone (visible with an Acrid-like cloud) with a 25/45/75% chance repelling enemies causing them to run away along with a 100% slow effect. On top of that there is a poison damage doing 2/4/6% of their max health every tic they are affected. Enemies are affected if they are within 3 meters of the web lasting for 5/10/15/ seconds.

Debuffs buffed by Continuity/Constitution and damage by Focus

Hope it goes without saying all abilities also benefit from Streamline.

PHEW! This took me longer than expected but I put a lot of thought and effort into this frame. Even if none of my ideas are implemented, I would love to play a spider themed Warframe. I love crowd control/support/teamwork and I hope this hits the sweet spot. Enjoy!

Edit: I forgot people aren't always a fan of giant spiders. Down here is a Warframe fan ready for this frame!

Ready for the PS4 Warframe Release!
