  1. Rising from the darkest depths, Altum is a conduit to the furthest reaches of the creeping dark.

Hydroid as a warframe could be placed in the caster category with crowd control (cc) frames like Vauban, Nyx, Loki, Nova, Mirage, etc. However his only cc ability is most notable for its augment which grants more loot and that's it.

The goal is to provide true and meaningful cc to a group and an effective alternative to current cc frames.

Why rename everything? Altum is how I would have designed a frame centered around water, the sea and its depths I don't expect anything beyond that to change, this is mostly for fun.

1 Tempest- Open a portal to the deep over your enemies crushing them under its weight. This would work the same as it does now with less knockdown and more stagger. The idea being to keep enemies stun locked and upright to expose weak points like the head for ranged attacks. An increase to base duration and a max number of three portals open at one time.

2 surge- Channel the raw power of the deep and crush all in your path. Again not much to change here, a simple mobility tool with some damage. However using Surge on an area effected by Tempest will detonate the portal creating a powerful area of effect (AOE) ragdoll

3 Maelstrom- Summon an obelisk from the deep with a swirling maelstrom at its base. Enemies will prioritize the obelisk as their main threat and when they enter the swirling waters of the maelstrom they will be sucked under in the same way as undertow. If a tempest is active over Maelstrom enemies will take finisher damage based on a % of some kind. The obelisk would work like snow globe with a health pool that is diminished as enemies attack it. Only one Maelstrom can be active at a time, casting it again destroys the original.

Drawing enemy fire is the main goal of this power as in its current state undertow only effects enemies who happen to bumble their way into its range. For the infested it almost too easy but if Hydroid is your only cc against ranged factions they might simply just stand back while he stares on helplessly. Removing the need to physically be the puddle also means Altum can be proactive and reactive without having to waste energy when the situation changes I.E. casting undertow and then having the whole team go down.

4- Clutching shadows- Tentacles from the deep bind and crush enemies while highlight them for allies. If Maelstrom is active the tentacles will drag enemies towards the obelisk to be drowned in its waters.

The big change here is to remove the random giant tentacles that can sometimes do nothing. These smaller tentacles appear on enemies like Nyx from her Chaos ability. Enemies within range are effected as opposed to having a chance to simply get away from the flailing tentacle. Binding and highlighting them makes them easy targets for allies to take them down, instead of trying to pick them off while they are flung around at random.

TL;DR? Hydroid in his current form is close to useless beyond augments, this is better for creating healthy alternatives to current meta of cc

  2. You are right about the current damage system, I am just lazy hahaha.

Yeah lost Mods is just a suggestion a different kind of negative effect, I wanted to title it Corrupt mod rework but negative power strength builds can be pretty effective

On hit scan weapons, rolling should break enemy aim like you say, once they get a lock on it's over.

  3.                 Long time player here, Steam has me clocked in at 890 hours if that means anything  to you. At the time or writing there is a S#&$ storm about stealth nerfs and changes, I won't be going into any of that, but on the subject stealth changes are bad. Talk to us DE or at least the council, you've been more open and transparent than most governments in the past, it's what makes you with supporting.

Disclaimer, I ramble and don't always articulate properly, these will be marked with a * read at your own risk.

    1.)Armor Still does Nothing

                    Armor overall is generally not very effective unless you have a ton of it as a base stat. Closing the distance with Armor as your main defense will end poorly for you, even Valky. Abilities give Warframe the power to tank and while I would like to go into long winded detail I'm sure it is generally known that without Iron skin or Hysteria, Rhino and Valkyr would be about as effective as tanking damage as any other frame because armor does nothing to mediate high level damage. Suggestions;

Elemental Resistance- Anti toxin, flame repellent, diamond skin, Lighting rod and Insulation. I would like to see the statics on the use of those mods. Armor could help with all of these making it a more worthwhile stat while reducing clutter.

Resistance to Negative effects- The higher the Armor rating the more resistance to Knock down, staggering, and Proc chance(not duration). What about frames with lower armor? They are typically casters and avoid melee to focus on casting or have utility skills to even the score, not to mention mods like shock absorbers and handspring. High armor frames, the ones you would take to a melee fight should not have to mod up( sure footed, fortitude) to be effective at it. The argument about Being Ninja enough to dodge knock down has been made, but there are too many factors that even if you managed to dodge would get you killed anyway.

2.)Movement is sluggish, stamina needs a rework.

Movement is apparently in the re- works so ill keep this short.

our vertical pretty underwhelming comparatively I often find myself wishing for a double jump. We have the fling but it is unreliable and while coptering is fun if you don't use a coptering weapon, movement becomes a chore for the slower Warframes.

faster and more precise movement through the air. Jumping feels laggy and unresponsive, Again the fling is fun but seemingly random and wildly uncontrollable once initiated. It was said on a dev stream it feels like a bug, because it is, sorry.

Our stamina pool is laughably small, sprinting should not drain stamina, or the drain should be tied to the armor stat with speed of frames being around the same with slight variables (Loki, Volt)

3.)Tempo Royale is what stances need to be.

Thank god for Tempo Royale, fast with flashy but short animations, forward momentum , simple combos and Damage @(*()$ multiplayer's. Melee 2.0 is the best change to warframe in my opinion but focusing on Melee asks too much; Stamina, knock down resistance and recovery, regeneration, Limited stamina to close the distance without sliding, rolling and coptering. Tempo Royale answers most of these problems, A+.

    4.)Damage powers ultimately irrelevant.*

This has been brought up before but power damage needs to scale to enemy level. I only bring it up because DE has already made the perfect example of how this would work with the Seeking shuriken mod. That is how powers should work as far as implementation goes it could be a new Aura or a change to how power strength works but it is a desperately needed change.

    5.)Damage is convoluted.*

Think Dark souls, Slashing, puncture and impact work equally well but it's the more complex stuff that enemies have resistance and weakness to.  I miss the days I could just stack damage mods and be set no matter where I was going or who I was killing.

6.)Lost Mods Suggestion. I actually like this bare with me.

Something like Void damage, strong against all enemy types, but has a high energy drain and has a polarity that does not match anything known. So you could use it but you're going to have to use Forma for everything else to make it work. Maybe that's how we could make power strength scale or have mods that give corrupt mod benefits, with no negative side effects other than energy drain. maybe that's what corrupted them, trying to fix them?

    7.)No more enemy Hitscan weapons*

Extreme I know, but everything that has been done to alleviate perfect Grakata aim does seemed to have helped.

---Thanks for the suggestion Kamijo Edit acordingly---

  4. Learned about the power menu recently, great for gamepad users like myself. But opening the menu cancels the ability to perform other actions like sprinting blocking and channeling which means making allot of twitch tactical decisions that are not supported by this game.

Seconds matter especially against the grineer and other hit scan enemies.

  5. I agree completley. i love limbo and mirage, mesa....meh. not my thing. I just want another beat em up tank. rhino and frost are the only two i'd even CALL a tank. i'd love to add an offensive/defensive style tank in as well would be awsome :)

Word, being tanky opens up playstyles that don't envolve spamming 4th power every five minutes. Fine fore some, but I like to get into the enemies face when I wreck them.

  6. The Tenno murdered their leaders bringing about a second Dark age and jeopardized the very survival of the human race.

We are hardly the good guys and a little above a smart bomb

That act of treason against the Orokin shows that Tenno have free will, and like anything with Free will they have the power to choose, Intelligently or less so.

Without the Lotus, an Awaken Tenno would be little more than a super powered mercenary. The Lotus knows this and does her best to steer our blood lust towards enemies that deserve it, but like any soldier that lacks Loyalty the highest bidder always wins, Grineer, Corpus, or Eclipse.

    *Edit: A Word.

  7. Why was this thread Necro'd so hard?

I'm Glad I needed to read this again and could not for the life of me find it.

Because the game is too easy, but they don't want things nerfed. There's some weird algebra going on where the only place those lines connect and make sense is way up vs extremely high level enemies. To justify being invincible and feel challenged something has to one shot you. To justify dealing thousands of damage per bullet but still feel like you need/care about headshots, things need tens of thousands of HP. To justify asking for more mod slots you have to need ridiculous stats AND still want utility.

I personally want a balanced game and not a boring game for 45 minutes before the 'real' game picks up. I say nerf everything you need to and rework every boring power until the game makes sense from Mercury to Pluto and into T3 (T4?) void.

    It's so true it hurts.

  8. Dark Sector was one of the reasons I bought an Xbox 360. I didn't know at the time it was just a tech demo, when dark sector actually came out I got it as a kind of, "Ok it's not what I wanted but what  I liked about the Demo is still in there somewhere."

And then I found out about Warframe, heard the story of how it came to be, and have been here ever since. I became a founder because I believed and still believe in Warframe.

DE please help put our fears to rest.

  9. Depends on what you consider "Good"

Popular MMO's typically go for the gear treadmill route. Releasing progressively better gear behind "New" and "Interesting" grind walls raids and dungeons, complete with RNG and competition within allied groups over whom gets the particular item that actually dropped.

    Yay for artificially extended gameplay!

As for end-game I think might be interesting:-

Quests and storyline progression. If the quests are interesting and give a sense of discovery about the lore then even grindy ones can be good.

Challenge modes (Like Nightmare modes only specifically chosen beforehand rather than randomly selected upon entering the mission - Could be chosen by Dragon Key like equipment) that are difficult (So require tuned up weapons and frames) but reward unique cosmetic items.

Arenas similar to the Colleseum in Kingdom Hearts 1 - Complete with multiple difficulties and change them on a regular basis and give out rewards for completing them (Cosmetics for example)

Large scale, multiple phased boss fights - With how subsequent Breeding Grounds missions after the first has dialogue that references that you've done the mission before complete with level scaling based off how many times you've been there, having big boss battle missions that progress to a different part after you do a certain number of missions could be interesting (For example: Start off killing dudes to get to the boss, then have to do missions where you weaken the bosses defences, then there's fighting multiple stages of the boss which culminates in a epic "Final Form" boss fight)

artificial extenders aren't bad when used properly, who cares if you have to run a 100 room dungeon if the gameplay is fun

  10. End game could mean different things, depending on the game you play. Here are a few that I can think of:

    -Dungeons that scale.

-Dungeons that force players to play at a certain level/statistic, so they aren't LOLOPFACEROLL and have to stratagize through the dungeon to victory.

    -Boss rush mode.

    -Time attack.

    -PvP

    -WvW

    -Duels.

    -Player Killing

    -Raid bosses of epicness.

Those come to mind at the top of my head. End Game is supposed to be something that entertains you even after you're satisfied with your characters load-out.

These can be from small things like increased difficulty for missions, to that planet sized space dragon threatening the galaxy, and some people just like to beat each other up.

Dungeon is the right word to use, I always think of Warframe as a dungeon crawler. Maybe set levels instead of random generated one with set mutations per tile?

  11. What are we suppose to be looking for exactly, in an End Game? What are your best examples?

    My thoughts.

To me, it would be end game exclusive gear,(Stats are mean nothing to me) things you cant just buy, I want to enter a lobby and see a dude with some fancy armor or something and go "Damn, He managed to get through that dungeon and kill so on and so forth."

Distinction amongst your peers beyond how much money you have.

(I buy as many cosmetics as I can, because if it can be Farmed in game, I will farm, but I also want to support the Game.)

I know that sounds silly coming from a founder, but its true and think about that hook for a new player seeing the version of their frame they could become.

That is what got me Farming in Diablo, We where both Shamans, but he had clearly been to hell and back, and I could too, so I kept playing.

I went to high end content not because I was bored, but because I wanted that mask I could only get from that dungeon or Rift, also fun. Warframe is already fun, I would just like a distinction earned through play, not work. Rakta Syandana is the best example

  12. Naked Nick is the nick name of the dude in the cryotube. The mode works like this now. Take this bag, put it in a box, defend box, the next thing.

    Changes too.

Find the cryoTube, Free Nick, Someone has to carry Nick, expect to be slowed down. Nick can be hurt defend him and the carrier to the health station to stabilize Nick's condition, carry him to extraction. A Mobile defense if you will.

  13. Don't feel like making a whole bunch of topics so here a list of thoughts.

Resources in Codex; I think it would be cool to see what all this stuff looks like up close, but in a more intimate environment than the codex black fog I.E. Plastids in a Petri dish, Nerodes in a Jar, Rubedo as a paper weight etc.

    -----------------------------------

Kubrow- Keep your loyal Lama Hound, use the Orokin Lab in the Dojo instead of heartlessly abandoning them in one of the harshest environments in the solar system.

If you want to change an aspect of your Kubrow, you put it in the tube, do the thing, and boom instant what you wanted. There should be a drawback so it would reset it to un-ranked or something.

    ---------------------------------

Mobile defense change- Play as the emergency extraction team, regular guys got Got, the tube is too damaged, someone has to carry old naked nick to extraction on their back, maybe he mumbles some cool lore stuff.

Defend Nick and the player carrying him on the way to a health station dropped in by the Lotus so Nick can rest and not die, defend the station while he gets a life support suit on, then back to carrying him to extraction.

    *Edit: A word.

  14. People have accepted that DE won't touch the founders pack. Releasing the dual weapons doesn't fix some players wanting founders or damage the contract agreement that gives founders exclusive ownership to the lato prime, skana prime, Excal prime etc etc etc. They are separate to the founder's weapons and just add more content.

Want to know how they are separate? Read the comments!

Aggh has been doing nothing but proving that what the founders paid for and the dual weapons are two sperarate things. Yet he doesn't even care if they are released or not. Look how much stamina this guy has and things he has put up with such as going in circles cause other people didn't read the comments. He's only motivation:

"Lets not forget what some of the First founders actually did, Before Warframe was what it is now, it wasn't much of anything. Those people saw the potential it had, so much so they forked over money, for some a lot money, to help lay the foundations for the very bright future Warframe has for everyone now."

They do have a claim to it, master and grand master packs where like $100-$150, they paid good money for a cheap pistol and sword, Cheap, the stats are terrible.

Cant we just let them have this one thing for being dedicated fans, Besides is it really so terrible that two arguably bad weapons cant be used by the rest of us.

  15. It still doesn't change the fact that they never paid for these weapons.  Ever.  If DE has to cow to continually cow to a specific demographic of customers, they're not worth keeping.  Clearly they aren't the loyal supporters of the game they claim to be if they think something like this is worth quitting over.  If they had a legimate claim it'd make sense.  But players that would quit over exclusivity that never existed in the first place are not worth keeping.

You're not wrong, but it's less about having them gone and more about how it would make them feel, I think that gets overlooked a lot in this day and age, they are people too, and so are the people left out in the cold, its a no win at this point.

discussing it just opens the wound, cant we just let this heal and bare this scar on our community together.

  16. This subject needs to be buried with a big monument that says "Speak Not, Forget Not, The way of the Tenno"

Lets stop talking about something that wont ever have a solution that works for all parties, and lets not Forget what a mistake founders packs turned out to be.

Release the gear- Founders get pissed, some leave, write paragraphs of hate towards DE and the new players. Everyone with new founders gear realizes it really isn't worth it and switches back to what they are comfortable with in about a week.

Lets not forget what some of the First founders actually did, Before Warframe was what it is now, it wasn't much of anything. Those people saw the potential it had, so much so they forked over money, for some a lot money, to help lay the foundations for the very bright future Warframe has for everyone now.

All that being said, if I had not gotten in on the founder program when I did, which was way latter than should have been aloud if I remember correctly, I would be Nodding my virtual head in agreement, "Forget those old guys, I want everything Warframe has to Offer."

As a mid level founder without access to weapons, Would I like them? Sure for mastery and bragging rights, but those are the wrong reasons, so no I don't care if I ever even see them in game.

  17. A glorious leader- New Bio.

Commissar Nef Anyo - Stalking the Shattered Solar Rails of the Mars system Commissar Neff Anyo has a reputation of great battle prowess and tactical genius.

His militant stance on Corpus Doctrine sets him apart from his peers, but like most corpus he is motivated by profit and behind the carefully constructed facade, he is a coward and a psychopath

The stories of the Commissar have him charging head long into battle wielding his mighty sword made from very dense metal that would take ten men to wield.

The sword is very well crafted and indeed very heavy but it is more for show, lacking any formal training in sword play Nef's feeble form could not budge it without the assistance of his custom Exo-Suit. While the Suit assist in movement and strength it's hidden function is its cloaking technology.

when confronted in the field Nef Cloaks and lets his loyal Templar's do the dirty work, sniping from the shadows with his Custom Lanka, re-appearing amongst the bodies as if he had been in the thick of battle and emerged unscathed.

Neff preaches for a more Militant Corpus and disparages the use of proxies, "Only Flesh and blood can bring true Profit." This is both Ironic and telling as Neff is believed to have a hand in slavery.

The Higher Ranking Members of the Corpus Look down on his boasting and public persona, The Corpus are meant to work through Proxies and influence from the shadows, not plaster their faces and intentions for all to see.

But as he pushes the margins into the green, he is aloud his hunting grounds and the Board turns a blind eye to his questionable business models.

A sheep in wolf's clothing - New motives.

I want to move away from his current role as dumpster diver to a very real public threat to help get a sense of the people we are trying to protect, no boss outside of the Grineer threaten anyone but the Tenno and our interest making me question our role as guardians.

Neff has a very Public persona and lives to be seen as an Honorable figure worthy of the annuals of history, The public see's him as the face of the Corpus outside their domestic proxies and on the surface he appears respectable if a bit fanatical to his beliefs.

However Neff is a dangerous psychotic, Running a massive Slavery ring. The Corpus have no rules against Slavery but it is looked down upon and a Taboo form of Profit making. Even more perverse are his Big Game hunts using un-sold slaves as prey.

The Corpus board has learned of these hunts and disgusted as they are, Nef continues to kick considerable profits into Corpus hands.

Frohd Bek takes preemptive action to prevent a PR nightmare. Neff Anyo's operations are made public and in a even more public announcement Nef Anyo is excommunicated from the Corpus for his deplorable actions and labeled a heretic and a criminal, making sure to emphasize the Corpus at large knew nothing of his actions and do not tolerate his kind of Business.

This drives Nef over the edge, he rallies his Fanatically loyal Templar's into aggressive action to quell unrest in the region. The Red Veil works to rally and protect the people but it is not enough, the head must be removed and that is where we come in.

    Blood Sport - Boss battle.

In the First stage of the Battle Nef is enraged by his portray as a coward and blinded by pride, attempts to engage the Tenno in Melee cloaking to close the distance while calling for Templar's to assist. He is a heavy hitter but slow and untrained telegraphing his attacks, they are easily dodged but lethal when they connect.

This proves to be a mistake, he Cloaks and disappears into his hunting grounds where we peruse him. Inside a long maze like corridor he is perched high above in a sniper's nest. Here we must use cover and our Parkour skills to avoid his aim, indicated by a red laser. His shots are very lethal and can insta-down even tougher Warframes.

In the third and final stage we have reached his perch where he behaves the way he does now, cloaking and sniping with his Lanka until he is finally brought down.

  18. They're worthless and incredibly expensive. A random grineer lancer with a warframe skin that you can use once.

I wont argue their functionality that can be tweaked, its their concept that I don't want to see etched into a lore stone, so to speak.

    - Syndrome, The Incredibles.

Other than that, this sounds good, but for some reason, I have to say no. It just doesn't "feel" right, I guess.

Some cheap reasoning so I can feel better about making a comment: They're called "Specters". Ghosts. Literally the most pure projection of will (if you believe in the supernatural, that is).

That's more than fair, I would take Ghost over clones.
