  1. Again, you are not looking at it from a new persons point of view, you are adding in your own opinion that has been formed through a lengthy amount of time already playing through it.

A new person would never think like that, they'd see it first hand and then form their opinions from that point, as opposed to the rest of us who have stayed for a much longer time.

So let's take that first person (new) approach, then.  (Being a new player in the current WF)

I'd do what Archist would do the moment I laid eyes on things like Prime Access.  But let's give this game a chance and actually try it out, only to find out there's hundreds of weapons out there; some of which are wonky as hell when tried out, then realize that in order to "rank up" which is this games variance on leveling, well..., not to mention noticing the immediate lack of inventory slots.

The current UI would also be a big turn off for me compared to the old star chart, which was magical.  (A bit of bias here, but honestly, the picture comparisons are all over the place and it doesn't take a genius to realize the new is adding more steps than required vs the old, also feels more immersive with the old).

And don't just say "oh it's your biased perspective that lead to that!", no, you should know that studies have shown that the average players experience (new or old) is usually a good example of a decent chunk of what the majority is also feeling.  This is why I also despise RNG in "online multiplayer" games; makes me feel like a coal digger, digging for diamonds, unless I pay to have that shiny now, until the next coal mine opens up for that even newer shiny diamond.

Honestly, in this type of market, Erebus, you'd be surprised how easy it is for people to just skip over a game the moment they even notice a hint of bullS#&$, because we've all been through it before on some level, and know how bad it can get (it very rarely turns around).

So unless you're talking about a person who is completely brand new to mmo-esque type of games in general, then yes, I believe they would play...for how long depends on when they reach burn out, or realize just how meaningless the grind is in the end, and that it gets extended each and every update.

  2. Speaking of cartoons; you guys know all those childhood toons you used to watch?  The GI Joe's, Transformers, HE man, just to name a few, well, back in the day the government regulated and restricted how many commercials could be shown that specifically targeted kids, so you know what company's like Hasbro did?

Create 30 minute commercials, that's right kids: your entire childhood is one massive commercial cluster fudge to get you to buy all those action figures.

Your welcome for blowing your mind and ravaging your nostalgia.

  3. You know, this ties into a lesson from my marketing course: the new product cycle and how users adopt it;

    You get your

Innovators; the top 3-4% that get that new stuff asap, just because it's super new and unique.

Early Adopters; The next bunch of people to get stuff, aka founders.

    Early Majority; Self-explanatory.

Late Majority; the slow-pokes who wait till things get streamlined, before trying it out.

And then we have....Laggards;  The last of the population to ever move on, these guys will stick with the old junk for as long as possible due to how frugal and fearful of technology they are.  You know when the Government said Cable was being streamlined and that super old TV sets weren't going to be supported anymore?  Those Laggards were the ones still using them, and had a HUGE fit for having to buy a modern TV set just to watch their free shows.

So you may wonder what my point is and how it ties into this thread; well, guess who the laggards are in this situation?  To be fair, they should amount to roughly 17% of the user-base, but at the same time, they're also so stingy or untrustworthy of what's out there now, that the only way to get them to move on is by discontinuing XP.

Anyway.....just a fun fact I guess.  Oh, and it's not to say the Laggards are poor or anything, they're just super frugal and old-fashioned.

  4. At the end of the day its their game and you should be grateful they give even the slightest S#&$ about what their players think.

This statement is just as bad; when players advocate for the dev's to the point where they believe they have no rights and empower said developer to do what they want.

Honestly, that type of line is cringe-worthy to look at, because in the end: a business cannot survive without its consumers, the same as any other business.

Except, apparently, the gaming industry is fine and dandy treating their players like sub-human waste who MUST worship their gaming creators as gods and rock-stars...as if.

Now I'm not trying to take a statement out of context, but that line really isn't the proper way to convey things either.

You have people who whine and complain, because they feel entitled, but you also have those who will literally preach that no gamer/consumer has any rights and they should be "grateful" for anything the developer gives them; that is wrong.  Developers are not Deities to be worshiped, nor should anything that they enact be taken as "truth" without fail or faults.

Both types of reasoning are unjustified and wrong, so can you "cool your jets" and think about what statements you want to type out just to get a point across?

  5. You're gonna hate me for this, but I've been getting at least one egg per run. My clanmates thought I was full of it, til I recorded a few of my runs. Here's a screenshot, from last night. aflDG98.jpg

And this is helpful advice to the OP how?  I mean congrats, but was this really necessary?  I guess consideration of your fellow Tenno comes second to flaunting how "lucky" you are.

  6.

the earlier we voice our opinions the more chances U15 will truly reflect on what community wants.

    Ahahaha...no, We've been asking for a polish/fix update since U8-9.

Trust me, it's not happening any time soon, not until people stop paying, and even then; DE may be too stubborn.  This is nice and all, but U15 will not bring about what most people want: maintenance of the broken/half-assed mechanics, fixes to connectivity/latency issues, and focus on polish/revamp/removal/tweaks of things that already exist that are still without use or in need of dire attention towards.

But most importantly of all, EVOLUTION to bring a lot of frame/weapons up to speed, and going forward with the game and its core mechanics.

Adding new frame/weapons on a constant basis is fine and all, but why not go back and fix/alter what you already have inside the game, first?

We've stopped moving forward in actual development, all we're getting now is basically akin to vaporware; looks nice and pretty, but there's not a single damn substance to it.

And any new mechanics we do get have all been left as is, because DE is too stubborn about "being right", or what was it, oh yeah: "keeping the game within the boundaries of our vision".

Well is this the game you envisioned, DE?  Because I very much doubt it.  I'm just not sure what's keeping you from just hunkering down and focus on our current situation, rather than say you listen, but spontaneously make decisions that go against the feedback or add things that no one ever asked for to begin with!

  7. The lights were meant the stop rushing, the arc traps are another totally different version of the trap that had nothing to do with stopping rushing since, like you said, the best way to deal with them is to run pass them.

If these were actually built stop rushing the shock should slow people down a bit or something. These things were never designed to stop people.

You're the reason we need downvote functionality back.

    If you had your way:

We'd have Arc Traps that stunned on impact, and with the amount of traps spawned in each room; you'd most likely get chain stunned.

While we're at it, you'd also make it so that getting hit by an Arc Trap also triggers the alarm, which means you're not only getting chain stunned, but also getting shot at within 10 seconds of encountering the first zap.

And since you loved the implementation of the broken lights so much: Arc Traps would also mess with your field of vision, because, you-know; electricity causes malfunctions, right?

Hell, everyone would be dead half the time just at the intro cut-scene in every grineer mission they joined.

Honestly, I've read a lot of your posts in several threads, and 90% of the time, I wonder just what goes through that head of yours when you make those comments, because it's really not helping in any way; rather, you want the problem to stay, even if most people who visit the forums clearly find a disdain for that key function/feature, and it's EVIDENCED that it's a problem that needs looking into, however, you seem to not consider any of it.  You just randomly quote someone, then state basically the same statements each time, summarized as follows: "Quit whining, this is a great feature that's helping the game and the people playing!".

  8. Shame :c

I'm afraid that in Warframe case things are even worse than in case 1. Because:

"Typically, designers look at the in-game economic value of an item and decide how scarce it should be. More powerful items either appear later in the game or drop with a much lower constant percentage chance. The idea here is that players should feel some kind of sense of accomplishment when they obtain the item, or at least see how lucky they've been."

It is more or less clear that even the role of a aforementioned designer in DE is performed by RNG itself.

    A shame, isn't it?  :c

  9. Think I'll just leave this here, while everyone's in a polarized rut over the current state of affairs.  Something to consider as we take a hard look in the mirror and wonder: why are we playing this again?

Just a basic outlook, and I highly advise everyone take a moment to sit back after reading and consider the bigger picture and how things are potentially going to (continue) pan out from here on out, and for the upcoming U14, whenever that comes to fruition.

    http://www.gamasutra.com/blogs/ChrisGrey/20130403/188569/Emotions_and_Randomness__Loot_Drops.php

(Some of you may or may not have already seen this, but I just came across it recently and found it ironic that WF came to mind, before, during, and after reading through the piece.)

  10. I can see why, too.  Your post completely ignored everything the previous posts said.

Meh, saw this result a mile away; the moment they put Banshee in random missions as a "possible" loot reward.

=/  I mean do we really need to reinforce what a lot of us in CB or earlier already saw coming?  It's not like the signs weren't there, but it seems like a bit too many had false hopes and tried to cling onto the proverbial sinking ship; thinking it might get better, but that ship has sailed, and it's already reached the point of no return if you ask me.

But hay, maybe U20 will set things right?

  11. They were good times... too bad the game... well, yea. Wish I put that founder's package from there into the founder's package here.

Details!  I haven't been keeping up to date with that game, so what happened to it?  "too bad the game" <--- Too bad what?

  12. I'd like to just have everyone reflect on what they're saying:

In essence, it is normal to only get a minimal of 6 or less cells for survival or ODD, and that's WITH Necros.

I've just recently bought a booster and ran Mimas a few times with 2x Necros and have went up to 40 minutes for three runs in a row.  I've gotten 6, 3, and 4.

Now is EVERYONE sure this is normal?  Because if it is, I think DE's hit a new low; they're essentially killing the rate of cells, but continuously pumping out prime gear that require at least 10 (20 for akbronco's and I can assure you that they aren't going to be the only twin prime pistols) cells per.

I just don't see this as a proper way to treat us; I mean people already farm their bums off for Rhino Prime and the Boltor Prime BP, then they're going to gouge even more out from you just to get a SEMI-NORMAL rate of cells via boosters?

I feel like going back on that hiatus till U15,  Because this doesn't feel like it's getting anywhere at all.  I should be getting far more cells for 30+ minutes worth of survival/defense, even without boosters.  The fact I'm still getting around 3-4 as an average WITH one is just killing the experience for me.

PS - Will try to make a few ODA key/parties tomorrow and see how that goes =/, but as of now: I feel like I just wasted 40p for nothing.

  13. The Grineer loves their culture and heritage to the point that they want to eliminate non-Grineer.

The Corpus loves profit to the point that they'll kidnap their own sons for profit. (Looking at you Bek. No one messes with Darvo.)

The Tenno loves their brethren to the point that we killed numerous Corpus who wanted to leech profit from Warframe tech and numerous Grineer who wants them extinct.

Darvo loves us to the point that he defended us when Bek called us Betrayers.

The Lotus loves us (or doesn't she?) to the point that she'll try to save an individual Tenno who got harvested by the Harvester or hunted by the Grustrag Three despite our growing number.

Putting the RP-ish side of the argument aside, I can already see the "love" from my viewpoint.

    Needs more tsun-tsun.

  14. Now too OP just let us craft multiple formas at once according too our mastery rank.

This is pretty straight-forward and should be allowed for MULTIPLE Items besides forma's.  While we're at it: allow us to buy in bulk from the shop DE: I want to buy 1,000 scanners and 25 per purchase is aggravating.

i'd be happy if it wasn't used for the dojo and clan-research weapons as well, i'm part of a 3-man clan and ditn forma anything for wweeks at the beginning since we put every single forma into the dojo to get even just the labs done...

My idea around this (since forma is basically the building block of EVERYTHING) is to simply reduce the time for making them to 12h.  Hell, if you're going to dump loads of it on us from Void/Derelict, allow us to put it to use, because we'll ALWAYS need it for something, yet never have enough ready to use.

Combine X amounts of Forma into Super Forma that allows you to polarize your equipment just like regular Forma but without the need of re-leveling.

In order to craft the Super Forma you need like 3 or 5 (could be less, could be more) already built Formas and I guess credits.

    or

After you've applied at least 2 Formas to your equipment (let's say Penta), you get to apply 1 additional polarity (it can either consume one of your already built Forma or just let you choose the polarity straight away) without the need of re-leveling. In my opinion, applying 1 or 2 Forma isn't that big of a hassle but those who wish to go further should be 'rewarded' somehow.

    or

Every second Forma doesn't require you to re-level your equipment that you are Forma-ing. Example:

1st Forma: you need to re-level

2nd Forma: you don't have to

3rd Forma: you need to re-level

4th Forma: you don't have to

    etc.

First suggestion - Pretty costly approach, especially since forma's require 24h per to create.  I'm actually against it, seeing as how you'd need to amass a large amount of forma's just to "ignore the grind to 30", which isn't adequate or efficient use of them to begin with.  I mean why make a super forma, just to curb some grind time?

Second suggestion - This, I like, VERY much.  It's like a bonus after a hard days work, something to motivate people and reward them for the grueling time they spend re-leveling something that requires 900k+ exp to max out over and over again.

Maybe if the affinity required to re-rank said item wasn't the same amount as it was the first time around. 200% affinity? 150%? Something higher than 100%.

    This.  Nuff said.

I would say. allow us to use more than one forma at a time but it doubles the cost with each consecutive polarity (as it works when upgrading mods) for example, if you want to change (or add) 1 polarity slot it takes 1 forma, if you want 2 polarity slots it takes 3 formas (1 from the first slot and 2 for the second) 3 polarity slots at once would take 7 (1 for the first 2 for the second and 4 for the third) i think this is quite balanced. the cost its considerably higher in formas but considerably lower in time spent.

Balanced?  Need I remind you that it takes 24 hours per forma?  I see this as atrocious in the long run, since it takes 7 friggin days just to get 7, and if I need more than three polarities, do you honestly think I or anyone else would make such an investment?  Actually, this advice seems more geared to what DE is currently doing: gouging people out of cash.

Please let me know if my train of thought on the matter is miss-placed, or if I'm just not seeing the point here, but I for one, do NOT want more forma's required per change/addition, just to avoid some grind.  I don't see it as the proper way to go about changing forma's for the better, especially for people with mutliple things to forma on their frame/weapons.

    Fine how they are.

    Not fine as they are:

24h per, yet we get dumped with loads of BP's that would take months just to get through (and for some people, that's only 1/10th of their overall collection).

Used for Clan tech, building rooms, and weapon/frame customization.

Tacks on just another layer of grind that's in all honesty; not rewarding one bit. (sure it's for prestige, but how much grind mechanics do we already have to endure as is?)

Gets old and can be annoying to deal with when you have new things you want to prestige, or things like damage 2.0 comes out and makes your former "good" weapons into sub-par nonsense (Acrid).

I'd like that investment in time and resources (both in crafting and actual leveling) to feel like it has meaning; not just another chore that I have to get too after grinding for all these prime parts.

Forma gives you advantage, and you should have some setbacks because of that. Mechanics should stay as they are.

This is the same as complaining about Corrupted mods tradeoffs.

This is NOT the same as corrupted mods.  Those have reward/penalties tacked on to balance out its utility and make people think about how far they want to level it and how to counter-balance it with other mods.

THIS is just not fun after a while.  Forma is needed in almost everything in WF, yet it's still slow to get and requires the same grind over and over again, just so you can fit that single mod piece in: some weapons require two fracking polarity add/changes just for 1 mod.

Then we have frames that require aura changes on top of their polarity changes that need to be made (Zephyr, that Defensive polarity ain't doing you any favors).

Why not get some damn motivation to use these forma's, rather than just go "ugh, more grind" when you look at them.  They help you better exploit the potential of your weapon, so why shouldn't it feel like it?

Forma system could do with a lot of better tweaks like reducing the time to build, having them drop less fudging often in void, and not being seen as an overall additional headache to deal with, by adding some minor benefits along with the polarity change.  It DOES NOT even have too affect what the forma's original function is!  Just something to help ease and motivate people to grind it.

Many people have already suggested ways to make it better in previous posts, I just quoted the ones that caught my attention the most, and what I'm offering as my 2 cents is to reduce build time by 12h.

PS - Yes, with trading now available, you can easily get your hands on an affinity booster to drastically reduce grind time, but that does NOT mean things can't be better improved upon.  Don't settle for what's barely tolerable, when you can do better and make it something people want to do.

PSS - Before anyone takes issuance with my suggestion on making forma BP drop less often in void, I'd like to add this addendum: Make it so T3's offer a chance at an actual forma, I was told Exterminate has a chance of doing this, so why not spread that out to all T3's?  Or hell, even a reward option after wave 20 or 30 min in ODD/S?  Let's also go a step further and allow them to be tradeable, so if people really need them, hey, you can get some off of individuals with 100's of those forma BP's that they have absolutely no interest in ever cracking into.

  15. Hmm, I was actually discussing Narrow Minded with my clannies.  Hmm, what I currently have on her is: Tailwind/Turb/Tornado, along with;

    Intensify

    Continuity

    Fleeting

    Vigor

    Streamline

    Flow

I have one spot remaining, and was planning to put Narrow-Minded in it, to counter-balance the -40% Duration from Fleeting.

    If you want good build:

    Turbulence
    Tail wind
    Tornado
    Streamline
    Fleeting exp
    Continuity
    Constitution
    Stretch
    Redirection.

And intensify if you so wish. You can either hse physique/ rejuvenation or forma for energy siphon or rifle amp / steel charge. Stay the hell away from NARROW MINDED. It destroys the purpose of 3rd and 4th ability.

I think I'll try this out and see how it goes!

  16. Hi, so I just recently got Zephyr and plan to main her.  I was wondering what some good/interesting mod builds are out there.

I'm not really as savvy as I used to be with modding frames, especially with the new corrupted mods, so I'm in your care, gents and ladies!

(Not sure if this is the right section to be posting this, and if it isn't, please feel free to move it to the appropriate sub-section!)

  17. The reason the powers are mods instead of being always actie is so that in the future alternative powers can be made and added seamlessly.

I read this same exact line about 7+ months ago straight from the horses mouth (Hell, even from a livestream), yet it's become another empty promise.  I'm sorry but that line holds no water, because DE has never even once followed up on it with actual implementation.

  18. I can't believe it took this long to get to this point, when it was pretty obvious where things were headed the moment they decided to add Banshee as a "possible" ambiguous reward scattered in several mission types and put Vauban in alerts only.  (I STILL don't have that fudging helmet).

For now; I'll go level some frame and weapons that I WANT TO, but I'm no longer OCD on mastery anymore, there's just no point.

Was planning to wait till U15 (assuming it even lasts that long) before coming back to play, but Zephyr too good to pass up >:c.
