I have played games with loot boxes e.g. Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer.

And please explain why it is not same:

    • A chance item with a small chance of something useful (also the chance part seems to be fixed on PC where you can apparently preview the contents)
    • Massive amount of game time required to unlock it (I haven't even half of the Titanium to repair a single salvaged items after dozens of missions)
    • Grind can be conveniently bypassed by spending Premium Currency.

This is a text book example of a loot box.

If you’re going to blur the lines like that, than everything that has some sort of RNG component to it and allows grind skipping with currency, qualifies as a loot box.

  2. The conversations on this thread about toxicity etc only really matter if there’s matchmaking. DE didn’t talk about that at all, they only showed pre made squad.

If you’re hosting the squad, which obviously means it’s your railjack, it’s your rules.

What I do wonder thou, is how resource management will work. We use resources while on mission. Who’s resources are we using? Will a player be able to essentially  bankrupt the host.. Will the person giving orders basically demand others to deplete their resources? This sounds like a potential mess.

  3. If I had to guess, I would say that they select host based on network latency.

A host can have awesome network, but a really bad PC that has trouble keeping up with the tasks of handling data for all squad players, especially in open world areas with lots going on ( such as Profit Taker ).

Ideally, DE would have to look at the client processing capability and not just network latency.

  4. The solution to ESO is pretty simple. DE should just add to C rotation rewards that make people  want to come back and do it again.

Things like Kuva, Riven mods, Etc.

Without that, players that already have everything have no reason to push through C rotation.

If it wasn’t for the fact that ESO is a good XP farm, it would be long dead by now.

  5. With DE investing on content and mechanics that seem to be more aimed towards clans and friends, I was wondering how in general the Warframe community plays the game on a daily basis and how that may impact the success ( or not ) of the upcoming content.

So... who do you play with most of the time? Solo? Clan mates? Friends? Randoms?

I’ll never forget the guys that joined me after I made the mistake of entering a tridolon bounty,

I was there on my own just watching the terelyst thinking to myself  ‘how?’ for about 5 minutes before they joined the bounty and proceeded to cut loose on it,

Noticing that I was Volt, a squad mate using a mic yells  “VOLT PLACE SHIELD” at which I instantly press 3 were I was standing............about 50 meters away!

After a pause of around 5-10 seconds, that’s when I heard it.

    fml!

    Laughter! Unrestrained gut busting laughter!!!!!!

And within a blink of an eye they are all there laughing, tea bagging around my shield until it disappeared.

As quickly as all this started, it stopped with a voice saying “come come”.

They dash back to business for them as usual while I run jump roll my way over and as I get there I’m directed to stand under the fallen eidolon, WTF! By way of “Come stand” “ look up” “place shield” over and over until it was captured,

Then I was guided over to the shrine and told to place a shield ( I did ) which started another round of laughter and them trying to pronounce “shard”, 😂

And this is how it went for the rest of the night cycle, lots of laughter and fun for them and lots of learning and fun for me.

These guys showed me a huge amount of good vibes, helped me get my first eidolon cap, my first 1x3 and my first 3x3 all on the same night.

I am greatful for having meet them,

Pretty cool story. Thanks for sharing.

Not an exploit, but a bug. I have had this bug occurred twice in my life. The "best" was when people were getting killed every minute, I finished the 40-minute Arbitration with like 20 revivals.

    Did you report it?

  8. I see the word "competition" being used a lot here. Destiny 2 has close to 1 million daily PvE active players ( that's not counting with PvP ), while Warframe sits currently under 50k on Steam, maybe something like 120k across all platforms.

What exactly do people mean with competition? Is this even comparable in any way?

I've never played Destiny, but will sure give it a try, now that I can spend some time playing to see if its for me, instead of paying just to try it out. And then decide later if I want to invest on it. Surely the money I've spend on Prime Access packs would give me DLC's for years to come, considering the price point they are aiming for.

  9. I'm confused. So if a team finds the ideal strategy to tackle a challenge, by using weapons/abilities/whatnot the way they have always worked, but since it gives them an advantage over everyone else who doesn't know about it, that team is abusing an exploit?

Where do you draw the line? Did Eidolon speed runners abuse "exploits" when they first found out the most efficient meta? Or because it's not a competitive environment, it doesn't matter?

  10. I'm expecting the usual community divide, where some will cry about how easy and boring it is, while others will complain about being too hard and annoying.

I just hope that it comes with a good story behind, a battle that has some logic to it rather than just shoot the thing ( like they did with the Exploiter ), and a interesting reward pool/points that allows it to be repeatable and fun.

And why would you let yourself get killed by them? Why not kill them instead?

You lose the mark if you kill them?

I've actually been hunting G3 to finish my Brakk. Last time I killed them, the death mark didn't go away, so I assumed that it only goes away if we die. I guess not?

Edit: I guess probably some other squad mate had the mark, and that was the one that was consumed.

I mean... why would it increase the chance?
Assassins have a fixed spawn-chance of 2% for one player. Each additional player in the group adds 0.5% to a maximum of 3.5% for a full squad.
Your equipment has nothing to do with it.

Is your whole thread based on this false assumption of yours? That's kind of sad.

A little off topic, but considering that Wolf doesn't spawn if another Assassin does ( Stalker, Zanuka, G3, .. ), one thing that may affect the drop chances is players in the squad that are marked by other assassins.

So.. maybe we should let ourselves get killed by the other Assassins to clear the death mark and raise the chance of the Wolf showing up? 😛

The thing to take away from their answer I think is late console life negotiations the other publishers had doing cross progression/play. You might not see anything starting to happen tell next gen depending on contracts which we will more than likely never know the details of.

Yup. This was the conversation I remember hearing on the Devstream, thanks for sharing, I wasn't sure which devstream was it.

Some key takeaways from that conversation:

    1) It's possible and they have been thinking about it

    2) They don't have anything planned at the moment

    3) It would imply taking a big risk associated with contracts renegotiations ( doubt we will ever know what they actually mean with this )

    4) It would be a big technical challenge for DE to maintain synchronised versions across all platforms

Yes, of course that it would imply renegotiation of contracts. But going from there to "DE wants to do it but can't do it because Microsoft and Sony don't let them" is a big stretch, which is what I'm disagreeing on this thread.

The assumption that DE isn't doing it because Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo are blocking it, is incorrect IMHO. They didn't mention any of that, which is not surprising since the process hasn't even started yet ( read 1,2 ).

Devstream 113: Nintendo Switch migration was in development, and migration to X-bone and Playstation was perfectly ready to go in all ways except Sony and Microsoft not actually letting them do it

There's the "actionable steps", you are now aware of them

They don't NEED to work on it, the work is already DONE. They just need Sony and Microsoft to LET THEM

Again, you are mixing two different topics. Account migration is not the same as cross platform/progression.

But that's fine, we can agree to disagree on that, no point keep going in circles.

Yes, we do. There is literally nothing technologically incompatible between versions, it's entirely red tape. Warframe runs on DE's private engine, Evolution, and all account data is stored in DE's private servers. We saw this during the Switch migration: all anyone had to do was log in on the Switch, and they had a perfect copy of their PC progress. And before that, DE had stated multiple times that if Sony and Microsoft could stop whining for five minutes they would absolutely be open to another PC -> console migration. It costs DE nothing

X-bone and Nintendo already have limited cross-platform play in certain games, so the infrastructure exists to actually let the games play together. Technologically, there is NOTHING standing in the way. It's all about the lawyers, all about the bureaucrats hiring those lawyers. I take a look at your words, "if DE really wanted to make this a priority", and all I can say is: it's not how much work, it's the kind of work. It's not about development, it's about negotiation

The only thing I've heard from DE in regards to cross platform/progression was "we're thinking about it".

Not aware of them taking any actionable steps beyond just brainstorming the idea. Like, say, actually committing to work on it, or let us know that they are working on making that a possibility. Nor, for that matter, have I ever heard that platform owners are blocking it ( since they started opening up for cross-* ). Which is why I don't think we should outright blame those platform owners for a process that ( apparently ) hasn't even started from DE's side - AFAIK, happy to be proven wrong.

Account migrations is an entirely different thing.

#3. The Wolf tends to spawn in more frequently when players on your team are using weak, low mod gear (hunter mechanic) which is backwards.  You either hear two main complaints regarding spawn; either the Wolf NEVER spawns in for high level/gear players or he spawns in way too frequently when you are in a weakened state due to gear.  To put it another way, the people most prepared for the encounter, who want it the MOST, who are equipped to handle it and who complain about never seeing it, are the ones who get the least access = player frustration.  The people who are leveling gear, aren't ready for the encounter, are just starting off in the game and don't have max anything and the people who have to face the hardest boss in the game frequently = player frustration.  You have this reversed.

Is this really the case for Wolf? We need to roam around with weak gear to raise the chances of a spawn?
