    Fragmentation Lab Log 76:

    Hunhow.

    The old colossal titan.

    My creation.

    My folly.

    My salvation.

The Orokin were weak. Focused on their own glory.

It was to my great surprise when I found that one not only survived but wished to strike a deal with my creations. Although, it was he who convinced the council, who won them over and allowed the development of the Sentient Tau Project to continue.

This collaboration has made Hunhow uneasy to a degree. He has requested I design a new unit for him. A new unit with an old basis. The Tenno have proven to be quite a match for the battering power of the Conculysts. This will not due.

The Impetalyst will tower over the Tenno at two times the size of its smaller brothers. Utilizing two massive energy blades on either arm, it can easily rip through the toughest Warframe.

I have given it an alternate brute mode that will prove to be most effective. It brings its arms forward and leans into a running charge on all fours, knocking down and lacerating its target. The shields on the Impetalyst gain resistance twice as fast as the normal fragments.

And energy pulse can also be sent out to stun any unruly opponents and they won’t last long soon after.

If Ballas should turn to treachery, my Impetalysts will deal with him.

If the next open location would be infested-theme, hope to see there something like that

My original thought was that the Grineer would dig it out in the Plains of Eidolon and then, to screw with Nef Anyo, ship it to the Vallis

amazing art... would hunt him and tame him xD

Thank you! As would I, but considering he's basically a giant laser cannon it might be a challenge.

this has brightened up my day. was getting frustrated with the shock and freezing steps ephemeras not droping from exploiter. this is an awesome drawing.

I'm very happy to hear that! I hope they drop for you!

  4. Decided to try and Colour one of my older concepts and this is the result. Enjoy! Clem for scale!!

    Journal entry 210:

The Grineer have been excavating a nearby cave for some weeks now, their progress until now has been slow. It pains me to see the damage they have done to the Plains.

Today they broke through the wall and another series of tunnels were discovered. Most of the caves in the Plains harbor nothing but rock and crystal formation. The Grineer were not so lucky this time.

Shortly after they broke through, a thunderous bellow echoed throughout the cave system.

A massive bipedal Eidolon rushed out to greet the stunned troops and miners. This beast was unusual as the entire front half functioned like a canon of sorts. In its “gut” it produced a ball of energy which traveled through its “esophagus” and out of its “mouth” in a beam, akin to a dragon breathing fire. It was a sickeningly beautiful sight to see it charge and tear through the machinery with ease.

After the encounter, the Eidolon returned to the caves, leaving a smoking pile of machinery and Grineer behind.

I’ve contemplated entering the cave to further study this beast, but I am not equipped well enough if things were to take a turn for the worse.

I will notify Konzu so he can warn the other Ostrons to stay clear of the cave.

yah know you draw a lot of really good sentients

where do you come up with the ideas

Thank you! Idk I usually just start with a base skeleton and go from there.  The tricky part is applying the Sentient style to the skeleton in a way that looks right.

  7. Journal entry 162:

While on the Plains studying Vomvalyst behaviors, I witnessed something extraordinary. Terrifying, but extraordinary.

There was something unusual about one of the Vomvalysts. It seemed bulkier, more weighted with some extruding limbs that are not common with said beings. I thought this was odd until they approached a Grineer encampment where an Eidolon lure was present.

This extra “bulk” on the Vomvalyst was actually a separate Sentient Fragment. It leaped off its host and flew screeching into the camp, dropping small explosive energy charges along the way. It landed on one of the troops and began to tear at his face.

A truly fascinating symbiosis between the two Eidolons.

    I must study them further.

Heavily inspired by the Limbo Limina skin and pterosaur skeletons. Enjoy!

    Wow...

Looks nice, but... is that an Eidolon we can Hunt, and Capture? Or...?

I'm still brainstorming a bit with that, but so far the idea will be that it is part of a quest where you end up chasing it into the Plains.  After that, the Venandalyst becomes a bounty available during the night, similar to that of the Teralyst. Now, this Eidolon is considerably more agile and fast, allowing charging style attacks. Its claws may have an attack similar to Exalted blades waves. When it lets out a cry, it spawns smaller decaying Dromaeolyst enemies which utilize a type of acid that can be used weaken the Venandalysts shields. This increases your Operators effectiveness against its shields as its shields are much stronger than a Teralysts. There are then four synovia to destroy,  two behind the shoulder plates and two on the knees. Each synovia slows down the beast and then the final "synovia" to destroy is the rock being used as a counterweight on its tail.  This will force it on all fours, immobilizing it.  The Venandalyst can still attack but now it is vulnerable and can be killed or captured.  Similar to the Teralyst, Eidolon lures will be needed in order to capture it and keep it from teleporting elsewhere after each synovia is destroyed.

  9. Hey everyone! Glad to finally finish this piece as I've been working on it for quite some time. Here we have my most recent Eidolon concept, the Venandalyst in a bit of a face-off with the old warden himself, Revenant. Enjoy!

  10. A forgotten Eidolon, lost to time. Unlike those living in the Plains, the Venandalyst was imprisoned in the Orokin forests of Earth, trapped in a tomb of granite and wood, buried for centuries.

    Or, it was.

An old traveler stumbled across what was the entrance of this tomb and made his way inside. Opening the "door" broke the age-old Orokin void seal put on the tomb and when the old man entered the antechamber, all he found were rocks.

When he set foot in the chamber, something awoke. The boulders in front of him began to stir and quake. The beast emerged headfirst from the rubble and released a blood-curdling cry. Not a sound like that of a normal Eidolon, or a beast of the Earth, the cry was tormented, twisted, like an injured animal.

The traveler ran from that place, but it followed.

Heart beating fast, the old man escaped into the trees he knew so well and fled to a place, a Grove that was safe.

The Venandalyst could not locate him, but it had his scent and began the hunt.

Laying waste to the forest around it, the Sentient beast was known in the Old War to efficiently hunt down and eradicate any target.

To instill fear in his enemies, Hunhow designed this fragment to capture and exude the most primal of terrors displayed by the ancient monsters of Earth's past.

    Any input is greatly appreciated!

Quest: The Healer and The Hunter

    Spoiler

The quest begins with Amaryn sending a transmission asking you to investigate a distress beacon from the Silver Grove. When you arrive at the Grove you are met by Cyrus, who leads you to the shrine where he uses an apothic to bring Silvana’s attention to you. She proceeds to Introduce you to Cyrus and Fenrir, his Kubrow, and explains their purpose in the grove. She then explains the distress signal, which she asked Cyrus to set. She feels an unwelcome, but dormant presence in the surrounding forest and asks you to go investigate it, requesting Cyrus to accompany you although he is reluctant to work alongside a warframe. She guides you with her voice to the entrance of a cave that looks to be formed out massive, twisted trees. You find that the inside of the cave’s entrance is blocked by a series of large doors, like those in the War Within, and your operator is required to open it in the same way.  Once you have gone through all the doors, you walk into a large chamber where you notice a large amount of rubble on the other side. As you get closer, you notice sentient fragments amongst the rock. Before you can turn and leave, energy and life suddenly returns to the fragments and a massive sentient Venandilyst rises out of the rubble and turns to you, giving a blood-curdling roar. It proceeds to charge and chase you out of the cave, pieces of the walls falling in as you escape. As you and Cyrus run back towards the Silver Grove, the disturbance caused by the cave in causes a rockslide, separating you and the Venandilyst. The Lotus tells you to head to extraction and Cyrus tells you that you need to find out what you can about the beast and that he’s going to begin tracking down the Venandalyst.

You get back to the Orbiter and the Lotus explains that the Venandalyst is one of Hunhow’s deadlier fragments, designed to hunt warframes. She advises you against pursuing the beast. A transmission from Cyrus comes in saying that he’s tracked the Venandalyst to a Grineer settlement.

You begin the mission and as you approach the settlement you see the bodies of soldiers lying all around, kubrow dens in ruin and damaged Grineer mining vehicles. There is no sign of the sentient beast, however. Suddenly, a Grineer survivor comes out of hiding and begins to run away from you and the Lotus marks him as a capture target. You capture him and extract.

Back in the orbiter, Cyrus tells you that the survivor reveals that the Venandalyst was heading towards a Grineer facility that houses several toxin injectors that, if damaged, could poison the surrounding area, making it uninhabitable. He tells you that you must go in and neutralize the toxin before the beast arrives there.

The mission is an Earth sabotage but with three injectors instead of one. Once you are done the second injector, you hear the Venandilyst roar and distant explosions. At the end of the mission, the explosions and roars become closer but you don’t run into the beast.

Once back in the Orbiter, you receive a transmission from Cressa Tal requesting you to come to Iron Wake to discuss the Venandalyst.

Once there, you go and talk to Cressa Tal who says that some of her scout camps were destroyed and that the beast is getting closer and closer to Iron Wake. She requests your assistance in protecting Iron Wake and defeating the Venandilyst.

When you return to the Orbiter, Cyrus contacts you and asks you to return to the Silver grove as he might have something that could assist you in battle with the beast.

You return to the grove and Cyrus begins to tell you about his early history as an engineer of biological and chemical weapons for the Orokin and how he came to be a renowned zoologist/biologist. He tells you that he couldn’t live with all the blood on his hands after a few tests runs of his weapons on smaller resistance groups and villages so he decided to put his talents to good use by creating apothics and devoting his life to his studies. He gives you blueprints for three new devices of his own design that could help to weaken the Venandilyst, each creating an atmosphere around it that deals either toxic, corrosive, viral or gas damage, making the beast vulnerable.

To create these, you must go and scan various types of animals and plants from various planets, providing the required chemicals and extracts to build the devices.

Once you have a minimum of one device built and equipped in the gear section of the arsenal, you get a panicked transmission from Cressa Tal saying that the Venandilyst is right outside Iron Wake and that she needs your help.

You go to the indicated node and must locate the Venandilyst. You find a large group of Steel Meridian militants in an area that resembles an arena made from rocks and trees unsuccessfully trying to fend off the beast. You engage the beast and, with the help of the devices, you defeat it. Its roars can momentarily force you into operator mode and its attacks include charging, tail swipes, biting and energy waves. However, it escapes out into the Plains of Eidolon, where it becomes a bounty available at Khonsu.

You enter iron wake and Cressa Tal thanks you for your assistance and then you extract.

Once you return to your ship, Cyrus tells you that he might’ve been wrong about the Tenno and thanks you for removing the threat from the forests.

I have yet to figure out what the end reward will be but I think it would be kind of cool to receive the Venandilyst’s head mounted so you can place it on the walls of the orbiter, along with maybe a warframe blueprint or something.
