  1. Don't you guys ever get tired of hunting for pick-ups in archwing missions? Especially in Interceptions, where you're flying at high speeds up down and everywhere?

I may be a bit hyperbolic when I say that they're nearly impossible to identify against the space background. Especially due to the camera shift that makes your frame so much smaller in terms of screen real-estate, compared to normal missions.

What's the solution then? Well... a tried and true convention of flight based video games since their inception!

    RINGS!

Rather than give us carrier style pick-up vaccuming, so we can lazily have all our pick-ups just dropped into our open mouths pre-chewed. Give us something we can sink our teeth into as players. Something to fly through! I made a graphic!

There seems to be absolutely no drawbacks to this idea.

  2. So I was brain storming an idea for a Warframe, even got some art going for it. But didn't really get it to a finished state, and only shared it with a couple friends for feedback. I worked on it here and there, between then and now. Eventually I got frustrated with too many design elements and couldn't get a really good solid theme going and just put it away for later. I'd have time to refine him later, I thought.

Here is the work in progress from back in July.

Anyway, he was supposed to be dream themed. I wanted him to be a stylish, possibly even dapper looking frame. With a mysterious power over sleep and special a dream world. His design had influences from various surrealist artists like H.R. Giger and Zdzislaw Beksinski. Somewhere between charming and horrifying. Inside his collar and chest piece would be some distant cosmic sky-scape.

GOSH, sound familiar? I guess I just waited too long, and Limbo happened. Which delights me by the way, Limbo is so awesome. But now my Sandman themed frame is dead on arrival.

His powers would be reflective of various dream states as well as some kind of sleep related crowd control.

I still toy around with him being a possibility, with enough design rework. Moving away from the dapper gentleman feel and more towards the strange and surreal. What do you guys think? Be rough, and thorough. I can take it.

This has taught me a valuable lesson, I'm going to share my other concepts instead of letting them sit.

I had a hard time finding an iconic and simple picture. Too easy to just have lots of visual clutter.

This silhouette really puts the focus on the weapon. Partially in view, but quite clearly Loki and Glaive Prime.

Editted for water splashes and tree silhouettes in the water reflection. Before there was just unrealistic clipping through the water, a hard polygonal edge to the waterfall, and nothing to give the image a clear sense of location. Understandable limitations of 3d game environments, but I think the splashes make it work. They look kind of cheap, I tried to make them blend better with the graphics of the game... but ahhh ahhH! I just gotta post it!

  4. Faction: Infested

Description: A double ended blugeon made of infested flesh that formed a chitinous shell when bonded with a ships cryo-systems. The shiny shell bits on the ends can flex on their joints. Which would be a terrible idea if this was for dealing physical damage, but the compression sprays super cooled liquids that have an extremely low freezing temp. Slam attacks deal an AOE ice effect.

Grip: Orthos style double ended weapon. Similar attack animations, but heavier.

I have no idea about the name. I was thinking something like Ostrea, Ostreum? For the oyster shell like ends. Or something ice or water related like Sluice or Glaciem.

I hope this is accepted, as I think the games lack of natively ice-element weapons is a bummer. There's a lot to be done with ice weapons. Very seasonal too, don't you think?
