  1. One of the Orokin, tall, lithe and radiating an aura of quiet confidence, glided towards the Rhino Prime, and even spoke to him, breaking Uriel from his inner contemplation.

"I'm very sorry, sir." Uriel bowed deeply, then straightened again, arms still crossed behind him. Under his faceplate, his brow was creased in worry. "Every day is a new one, filled with wonders and terrors. It's..."

An eerie blue light danced around their single core. Skeletal spokes segmented into blades. They whispered to him, speaking a hundred dead tongues, and every attack of his made them stronger...

"It is difficult to go forward. However..." Uriel raised his head proudly. "I am certain that the Empire will stand strong against this menace. It will take more than demons to defeat gods, sir."

Aryas simply closed his eyes as he listened to the Rhino's thoughts on the matter of their growing conflict of the Sentients. In fact, he couldn't blame the Tenno, as he shared his stance on the matter at hand. With a heavy sigh, he shook his head, giving a weary smile. "There is no need for the apology, Tenno. It is only human of course, for you to feel these emotions. Ones I share, of course. Some days it is all you can do to keep going." Taking a deep breath, he continued. "I pray that you do not lose sight of them." The tall Orokin man would reach out and clasp a hand upon Uriel's shoulder. "They are what separates us from those devils on the moon below." A moment later he would remove his hand and turn, surveying the room in which the Tenno made their conversations with one another. He had believed that they were imposing figures of myth, honorable and fearless warriors... But the more he saw, the more he began to wonder if they were just as human as he, if not moreso. It was a thought he would ponder later, for now, he had to make preparations to send them away to that loathsome moon.

Some days, it felt as if with a simple flick of his datapad he doomed countless others to their untimely demise. It was not a power that he was proud of. But a necessity in these times.

“War… what is it good for?”

Lorist Ayuta was aboard the Capitus III, sitting in what had to be the most depressing room she had ever entered. It was supposed to be a recreational area, a place where one could relax and forget about the war for a moment, just be a normal person for a little while. Instead, she saw through the farce, she knew that you never escaped the war, it could touch you anywhere at any time, grab you, and hold you tight. She did not feel safe here, not aboard this glittering station above Jupiter, not anywhere. Safety wasn’t real, not here, not now, maybe never again. The Sentient menace was unstoppable, she knew what they did, she saw what they were capable of. The Empire didn’t stand a chance, it would fall soon, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon. All she knew was that she would never see that day, none of them would. She knew she wouldn’t last another year, let alone a century, not where the Empire was putting her.

“Nothing I guess…” She said softly to herself. Her voice was very light, almost childlike, but very quiet and very weak, as if simply speaking took a massive effort to accomplish. In those words she spoke, one could hear all of her torment, all of her sadness, all of her grief, and the absolute apathetic numbness she treated it all with.

She sighed and covered her face with her left palm. She was bored, she was tired, she was sad, she was broken, but the worst thing she had ever endured was the silence, the waiting, the calm before the storm. It tore her apart both emotionally and psychologically, it stretched her sanity to its very limits, it tested the thin wire that held her all together, and with every second that had passed, another stone was placed on it, threatening to snap it. She knew what was coming, she knew ever since the Orokin told her that she was to be transferred to Europa to assist the Steel Aegis. She knew that was a bold faced lie; they didn’t transfer her to assist some legion of the damned on a forsaken popsicle, they transferred her to dispose of her. They didn’t want her anymore, they didn’t need her anymore. She was useless, only half of a whole, incomplete. Without Bilas, she was nothing.

She missed Bilas so much. Every day without her sister was another day she had no reason to live. Bilas was everything to her, she helped her when she was in need, she picked her up when she was down, she gave her hope when there was none. But now there was nothing, no happiness, no love, no anger, no sadness, just an absolute void within her heart. A great mass of darkness that was slowly siphoning off her soul until there would be nothing left but a husk of a young woman, a walking corpse. It was already too late for her, she knew that, she was not in denial of who she was. In fact, she accepted it, she no longer cared about the meaningless notion of self, it didn’t matter anymore, nothing really mattered, and the war would make certain that nothing would matter ever again.

Ayuta rose from her seat and slowly walked over to a window showing the vast expanse of space. She knew she should not be left alone with her thoughts, that she could and would only hurt herself more than she already had. She needed to relax, but this place was simply making her far more anxious than anyone could ever know. She needed to escape, and space had always helped her to some degree. As she gazed out into the infinite blackness before her, she felt almost at peace. That vast expanse always made her problems feel so small and insignificant, made them feel like they shouldn’t matter. She placed her right hand on the glass, and could feel the smooth surface against the cold metal implant in her palm. She quickly removed her hand from the glass and stared at it. It was a Lora device, a tool of healing, and love, and kindness. It was the mark of the Lorist, the healers of the Empire. She was cloned for this purpose, as was her sister and countless others like them. She mended wounds, she eased pain, she saved lives, that was her purpose as a combat Lorist.

    She hated it.

She despised that implant stuck in her palm, it reminded her of who she was to everyone else, it reminded her of her place in the Empire, and it reminded her of Bilas. It drew attention to the gaping hole where her sister used to reside within her mind, it made her remember that she would never feel her sister’s joy, her love, her passion, or even her anger or sadness. She would never feel her sister ever again. She tried to gaze back into space to rid herself of these harmful thoughts, but now all she could see was her own reflection superimposed on that beloved blackness.

Just like the Lora device in her palm, she hated her own face.

She wasn’t perfect, she was disfigured and disgusting in her own eyes, and in the eyes of the pompous Orokin. She had high cheekbones, a gently curving and almost elegant facial structure, almond shaped dull gray eyes, and pitch black hair that perfectly framed her face. But her skin was sickly and pale, her face was gaunt due to her dangerously low weight, and her face was completely covered in thick, metallic scars connecting to two Lora nodes on her temples. These scars were present throughout her entire body, marring and corrupting everything, all tracing back to that infernal Lora device in her palm. That evil healing contraption had only ever caused her problems ever since she had been birthed. It made her a pariah, an outcast, it made everyone look down on her with disgust and prejudice. She wasn’t a human being deserving of respect to the Orokin, she was a disposable tool to be used and replaced, and that was how she had been treated for her entire life.

She looked away from her reflection, she couldn’t stomach to stare at the monster in the window for any longer. That thin, frail creature made her absolutely sick to her stomach, it wasn’t deserving of respect or love, not anymore. It requested pain, and that is what it would receive, she would make sure of that. She always had.

With a sigh, Ayuta went back to sitting in her chair, waiting once again to be called for her death.

At this point, however, death didn’t look so bad.

Dax Hroltz seemed to be in far too good of a mood for someone who had just recently returned from Europa. He held a warm smile upon his face as he sat in the recreational area. He was relaxing in his own way: by taking apart and cleaning his Burston. He hummed a soft tune to himself, though he didn't exactly know where it came from. It felt strangely familiar however... Instead of focusing on that thought, he let his mind wander to another, and another, until he had forgotten how he came upon the thoughts at the forefront of his mind in the first place. Still, he did not let his vision funnel to his task at hand, no he was constantly aware of his surroundings, and was aware that he was not alone in this room. While the others in the station may have already left and headed towards the upper floor at Aryas's request. Apparently something important was going on... Buuuuut it couldn't hurt to be a bit late, he knew how these things went.

Hroltz was an Orokin male looking to be in his late 40s, hard features were belied by his calm smile, and piercing green eyes seemed to drill into the parts of his rifle in front of him. Rough brown stubble graced his cheeks, chin, and around his mouth, giving him a somewhat grizzled look. The look did not seem to fit his demeanor whatsoever, and it formed a dichotomy that often caught others off guard. His idle gaze scanned the room, catching the unmistakable glint of a Lora device embedded in the palm of his other room companion. Clearing his throat, he called out. "The view treatin' ya alright?" His voice was... Unremarkable, surprisingly, and fit him more than his expression did. "Gets old after a bit though, I say." Cleaning the barrel of the Burston, he turned his head one more. "What's yer name, miss?" He'd seen Lorists before, he knew their look. He also knew that they always came as a set of two. For this one to be alone already told him leagues about her. He would refrain from asking about it.

(I know it's short, but with all the little lore bits that we have on Daxs and the Orokin i simply can't make something longer for now, i would probably expand him more as im altready liking him as a character)

Apologies for not getting back to you quicker, but I don't see anything wrong, Lastian is accepted!

Dubbed "The blue speed demon" by her teammates and "Nix" by her close friends, everyone knows not to mess with the explosive personality of this Nova user when it comes to two things: Sentients and Syandanas.

Even though her impulsive behavior can make things worse sometimes, her actions always proved to be on point even under a great deal of stress and under the most dire of situations. Jumping from front line attacking to a support role with her extreme mobility, she is all over the place ready to help allies or kick sentients back to the Tau system. The only moment things slow down is when something explodes immediately after.

Back at base she is always seen taking long walks around the place and have a talk with the various inhabitants of Capitus III, her secret-not so secret hunt for new syandanas of all types for her collection keeps her curious to meet new faces and possessor of a friendly reputation among Tenno and Orokin alike.

Edit: Sorry for any mispelling errors, I am not a native english speaker.

For having English as your second language, you're quite proficient in it. Nova Prime is perfectly fien if you wish, as well as your choice of hair.

I don't see any problems with it, so you're accepted!

  4. Well, as of right now my good sam, you're free to have Ayuts be doing as she wishes on the station. Right now, no one other than nameless Dax and Grineer are down on Europa.

I was also waiting for you to introduce her into the IC before I made any posts about what was going on anywhere else. It's just how I do things as I can't split my attention to a place I don't know exists, if you get my drift. I basically can't put work into setting up what's around her if I don't know where she is.

Unfortunately I'm away from my computer right now in class, so I won't be able to make any huge posts in the IC until around 10PM EST

  5. Well, there's no problem in asking for help, but what I'd start with is a different character entirely. I wouldn't want you to change your character just to suit the thread. But if you DO feel like just changing Maul, I'd suggest not basing his entire character off of outer events to start with. That usually comes later in character development.

  6. Hushed whispers and discreet pointing could be felt all around the great station as those that saw the Tenno gossiped among themselves, exhanging glances and worried words. Many had assumed that the Tenno were simply rumors, a folk tale, a story thought up to give the Orokin peoples some semblance of hope in these grim times. But seeing their cold, gold warriors here? In the flesh, standing about and even speaking with each other as if they too were simply people themselves? It was almost surreal.

But to Aryas, it was just another day.

He too had heard the stories of the Tenno, how they were the best equipped to deal with the Sentient threat. But Aryas was a man that saw worth through results. The stories would remain just that until he had seen proof that the Tenno were more than capable of dealing with their adversaries. Straightening his collar, the tall, almost bird-like man made his way over to one of them. The bulky one. His admittedly sparse file apparently listed his "Warframe" as Rhino Prime. Clearing his throat as he neared, he stood straight and formal in front of the nervous Tenno. "You seem troubled, Uriel. What gnaws away at you?" Though the Orokin could already postulate what his answer would be. It was always the same. The Sentients. To be quite honest however, Aryas did not blame the people of this station for their nervousness in the face of such an enemy. They seemed almost like old horror stories than they did a corporeal threat, and Aryas himself always had that pit of uncertainty gripping at his stomach. But he could not show it. To show a weakness like that would fracture the tenuous leadership visage that he held.

Halcyon perked up. He was being addressed by not one, but two others like him. Well... Not quite like him, but they were still Tenno, just like him. He placed the palm of his hand upon his left breast and curled it into a fist, before bowing slightly in respect to the two warriors. "Well met, friends." He returned to a resting position with his hands clasped behind his lower back. "Please, do not mistake my idle praxis for any negative emotions. I simply grow restless when I'm waiting." Hoping to transition the subject away from himself and to a more general topic, he looked over his shoulder, out one of the many windows to the roiling planet below. "Stunning, isn't it?"

  7.

Souna never had shared many Tenno's nigh-religious admiration of the duel blade against blade. Of course she accepted it as a part of the Tenno ways, and acknowledges its necessity on the battlefield, but that's where the similarities end. Her perception of honor and war differed a lot from what Aegia would have thought. The Zephyr-lady thought it far too risky and unresponsible to trust her aspirations and future onto the result of a duel with equal footing - a fifty-fifty-chance. Sparring sure was fine, but it's just a practice for her that prepares her for the battles that actually served her needs. Fairness was not going to further any of her goals, only victory.
That also was the reason why her performance on the battlefield differed greatly from her accomplishments in the arena. Most duels are regulated, prohibiting Souna from using her enemies weaknesses like she was used to.
But at least her defense still held up until now. Souna was well aware that she really dodged a bullet with Aegia's last attack, which could have easily finished the duel in the Rhino's favor. Instead of worrying about what could have been, Souna focused on properly placing her blows on the Rhino's soft sides and lower back, only to confront the other's impeccable constitution. Souna was sure that blow could've made any human go mad from pain, but Tenno really are a different deal after all. And so, Souna's leg was still caught, and hanging upside down did not allow many further attacks from this 'special' position.

On the positive side, Aegia helped Souna change her position. On the negative side, she didn't do it intendedly, and with way too much force. Before Souna could grip them, Aegia's legs were out of reach, her back did not provide solid grip, and centrifugal force carried Souna's upper body outward, away from Aegia's head, which was her most promising next target. With one leg and both arms free, Souna at least had some control about her rotation along the axis head-to-toe, but all she could do in a hurry to escape the crushing blow to the ground that proved inevitable at that point was to tuck up her legs, pulling her body in, thus reducing radius and velocity of the impact.
One arm grabbed her knees to fortify her curled-up position - and not get stretched by the next swing - the other protected her head as the floor closed in at alarming speed.

    WHAM

Souna felt the skin at her elbow and lower arm split as her body crashed onto the floor, not to mention the bruises she caught at her hip, shoulder, head and knee. When the reflexive tension of her muscles eased, Souna already found herself in the process of being lifted up for the next attack - and at this point, there's no doubt that Aegia would not and needed not change her pattern of attack: Never had she been in a better spot to grasp victory over the cocky bird-lady.

But, Souna had not given up yet. Her mind was still racing, and a glimpse of an escape presented itself to her. If this had been a real fight, no doubt Souna were facing certain doom, but then she would not have engaged like this in the first place. So, why pretend that there were no limits? The rules that brought Souna into this unfortunate positions, she could still use them against Aegia, who hopefully was still aware of the fact that neither of the Tenno should cause each other severe harm in a simple sparring-match. So, would the Rhino continue the flailing too long for Souna's body to take, or rather let go earlier to play it safe, once she had proven her point?
To emphasize Souna's sole intent of gaining distance from Aegia, the bird-lady started kicking towards the center of the arcing motion with her ungrabbed leg. Again, she perfectly uses centrifugal and centripetal force to her advantage: Centripetal force to make her heel home in on Aegia's shoulder and head, dealing moderate impact, and centrifugal force to jump away from her opponent should she let go of the ankle. Not much grace left in her motions, of course. With every impact on the ground, her kicks became less precise, and should she escape her roll and steps would be more shakey.

Back... And forth. And back... And forth. Each time, a resounding thud could be heard as Souna hit the ground. Sure, it had occurred to the woman currently flailing around her comrade like hammer that perhaps she could take things a little too far. Of course, it was really up to her whether or not she had gone a bit over the limit, and currently everything seemed... Well, fine. That was, until the telltale spatter of crimson began to show upon the hard metal floors wherever her opponent was slammed into. Drawing blood certainly wasn't her intention, Aegia had simply wanted to even the score, if only by a bit. It was precisely this hesitation that gave Souna just the opening she needed to connect her rock hard heel with Aegia's temple. Instinctively she reeled back, clenching her jaw and seething through her teeth as she used the hand that was formerly holding onto the Zephyr's leg to hold the side of her head. The wild throbbing only served to send jolts of pain scattering through her head and down her neck like spiderwebs of glass. If there was one thing that the Tenno had to compliment her opponent on, it was that she knew just where to strike to get a decisive blow. Inadvertently, she had been forced down to kneel, lest she fall to the ground from the fact that the whole world seemed to be spinning and out of focus, not to mention that she was seeing triple the image of what she would normally see.

It was clear that she couldn't continue, not at the rate that things were going. Sure, it may have seemed to an outside observer that Aegia was simply powering through Souna's strikes at her vital areas, but glancing blows and pinpoint strikes did far more damage than they seemed on the surface. The She-Rhino was just good at hiding the fact that every movement seemed to send fire shooting up her back thanks to that nasty blow from behind. The accumulated damage and fatigue had finally caught up to her, and so there she knelt, one hand on the floor to make sure she didn't topple over, and another gently massaging her temple in some attempt to get the world to stop spinning. It was making her sick.

She had no idea what state Souna was in, though she felt compelled to at least check. Above all else, she didn't want to be the one responsible for crippling one of her fellow Tenno, let alone one of her friends. Now only seeing double, Aegia slowly and methodically scanned the dueling circle in front of her, looking for just where her opponent had ended up. She hadn't flung her away, had she? No... She distinctly remembered dropping her out of shock.

  8. While I do appreciate the help from you all, I'd ask that you please refrain from actively giving out judgement on whether or not characters can or cannot be accepted into the thread. But it was all in good faith, so what the hell.

Does anyone mind if i tag along?

Name: maul (his real name is unknown as he keeps it secret)

    Race: Tenno

    Warframe (If applicable): ash prime

Loadout: Tigris, akjagara, redeemer (blade set :D). Archwing: eltron, arch-weapons: phaedra and centaur

Appearance: tall, average weight, short black hair, a scar on his forehead, brown eyes.

    Warframe Appearance (If applicable): http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/352772286708438943/163F959675DDB80E338AEE06F6A83DFFA28EB253/?interpolation=lanczos-none&output-format=jpeg&output-quality=95&fit=inside%7C1024:*

Personality: extremely aggressive so he trys to stay alone so no one gets hurt...unless they are an enemie

Bio and History: since he was born his parents had been notified that he has a serious problem and that his emotions may take over and cause him to go out of control but they didn't listen. When he was 8 his family was attacked by some grineer units. Seeing his mother getting killed he let his anger take over and slaughtered everyone in the house, including his own family. Since then he hid himself away from everyone else. Many years later he had been learning on how to take full control of his anger and use it for the benefits for him and his allies. Because of his brute strength and skills he has been accepted into the
Gilded Champions but had to make sure that he doesn't slaughter everyone to remain in the group. He doesn't like stealth and finds it more fun to attack, meaning that he only uses smokescreen when he needs it most. As he is such an aggressive target people have put up bountys worth 1 million pounds on him but the images they caught of him aren't so good and only showed a blur and the bounty shows his real name but since he changed it to maul, nobody knows who he actually is.

Tell me what you think I should keep and change.

But let's get down to brass tacks, shall we?

First things first, if you are indeed incredibly adamant about joining in the thread, I'd like to ask that you proofread your posts a bit more before posting, as while you may have good ideas and such, delivering them in a sloppy manner tends to leave one hung up on small details like spelling. Plus, it just looks neater.

Next up, I'd take a look through the introductory post in the thread and read it rather carefully. This takes place before the events of Warframe proper. This means that the Grineer are not rapidly degrading, ultraviolent warmongers like they are in-game. In this time period, they are slaves. Workers. The hard labor force. As such I find it extremely unlikely that any Grineer would escape, let alone go as far as murdering an Orokin citizen's family. You're definitely going to have to change that.

On the topic of the bounty placed on his head, once again this RP does not take place in the period of time you're used to (in-game). This takes place beforehand, during the war with the Sentients. I find it hard to believe that anyone would put a bounty on one of the best possible hopes that the Orokin have for winning the war.

I'm sorry, but in its current state, I cannot accept your application until these things are fixed. If you need any help, feel free to inquire within the thread, as I or anyone else would be happy to help out.

    Name: Lastian The Everlasting

    Race: Orokin

    Warframe: N/A

Loadout: Lex Prime, want to know about the Slicekor and the Kruvas before choosing a melee

    Appearance:

    warframe___zephyr_prime_concept_by_liger

    Personality:Secretive, Cryptic, Loyal, Manipulator.

Bio and History:  The so-called "Everlasting" never was part of the Orokin Elite until recently, infact, Lastian was a Dax, one of the many faceless meatshields of the Empire, his life was Duty and Honor up until they managed to "win" an engagement on Uranus, the fight was costly for the Daxs, entire battalions slaughtered to liberate one of the Bio-Labs present on his Oceans.

Being one of the last military high-ranks on the planet Lastian was bringed to Capitus III, there he managed to "Cover Up" the reports of the engagement, forge the right papers and remain on the Station, masked as "The Everlasting", one of the less-important members of the Orokin Elite.

(I know it's short, but with all the little lore bits that we have on Daxs and the Orokin i simply can't make something longer for now, i would probably expand him more as im altready liking him as a character)

Firstly, if you're going to use someone else's art, it'd be appreciated if you'd credit them (even if their name IS plastered all over the image in question, it's just common courtesy).

Next up I'm actually quite glad that someone has taken the initiative to apply with an Orokin character, I like it! The information about the two admittedly homebrew weapons is that, from what I gleaned from the codex and synthesis entries, do not have names. I simply named them what I thought would fit. The Kruvas is a plasma shovel used for mining operations by the Grineer. It vibrates and pulses on contact with what appears to be a shimmering material (forma, perhaps, something that you would mine for. Some sort of ore) and has an inducer that, when turned on, magnetizes the ore to it for easier sorting. It's shown in the Lancer synthesis entry if you need more information.

The Slizekor comes from the Arid Eviscerator synthesis imprint. It is, in essence a more crude Panthera. Think of a buzz saw that one would use to cut wood, only wielded with two hands and capable of cutting through bone, and sinew.

Other than that, i can't think of anything that you could change. I would ask for a more expanded bio, but with what little we've been given as lore, I can understand. Do expand upon it if you get the chance, however.

Capitus III, the great space station submerged in the gas shell of planet Jupiter. Some may have called it the final line of defense for the Orokin, some of the individuals stationed there however... They didn't quite see it in such a lustrous light. Instead, they saw it as a massive spire to all the failures of their kind. A shimmering blemish on the face of the beautifully swirling, gaseous planet. Inside, Orokin milled about. Some on important duties pertaining to the ongoing skirmish on the surface of Jupiter's moon: Europa, while others still did their best to relax in such dire times. It was clear, however, that most of the station's staff were at the end of their metaphorical rope. What hope did they have against an enemy that turned their own technology against them?

It was precisely this small glimmer of hope that was currently being shuffled about on Floor 5 of Capitus III.

    The Tenno.

Rumors of these warriors, having been successful in some of the other campaigns against the Sentient menace, had reached Aryas, the Orokin in charge of running the station. Initially pensive about accepting these warriors onto the station, it soon became apparent that the dwindling forces of Drax and slave-soldiers of the Grineer were simply not enough to combat the seemingly endless Sentients that seemed to flood across the surface of Europa like a wine red wave. Reluctantly, Aryas called out for assistance and was answered by an influx of Tenno to the station in secret.

It is here, on Floor 5, where many of the Tenno await a sort of... unveiling. To be heralded as some sort of saviors to the weary staff of Capitus III. One in particular, a Volt by the name of Halcyon, stood and idly ran his fingers along the many coils lining the humerus of his arm, watching the icy blue electricity arc from it, to his fingers and back again as he waited. It made him anxious not to be doing anything but waiting. He felt as if he constantly needed to be in motion for him to feel like he was doing something. But, Aryas had assured him that the wait wouldn't be much longer, as they simply had to wait for a few more Tenno to arrive so he could be sure that all of them had made it to the station safely.

It was almost a sentimental thought, for them to arrive safely; considering what sort of hell awaited them on the icy moon of Europa.

  10. So as I've recently come to be in possession of a Nekros, I feel the need to resurrect this thread.

    YEAH THAT'S RIGHT IT'S NOT DEAD @&#(&*@#$#S.

GUESS WHO'S TYPING UP THE IC INTRODUCTION POST RIGHT NOW?

Not me, because I'm typing this right now, but it'll be ME. In a few seconds!

  11. Hello all! I'm posting to tell you all that i haven't been killed in some horrible accident involving a microwave or some other kitchen appliance, and have in fact, just been busy with classes starting up again.

Rest assured that I will not be leaving, I am simply going to be busy.

    Sometimes.

I'll get around to replying soon, I promise. But in the meantime I suppose I'll answer the recent question

I honestly can't choose. I also had way more but If I posted them all I'm sure that the thread would end up crashing.

  12. The limbo drummed gold plated fingertips upon the receptacle holding the cactus as he thought through the tertiary Cephalon's suggestions regarding the Hydroponics section. He hummed rather audibly as he mulled over what she had said. "Well... How well would the plants here get along with each other if left to their own devices to grow every which way?" He found it strange to refer to them as if they too were individuals, but it was simply the best way to get his point across. "I've heard of Old World stories about invasive species of plant ending up snuffing out entire ecosystems." He gestured about with his arms as he spoke, as a way of emphasizing his words. "Though if there are none like that here then that's not a problem. Granted, why would such plants be brought on board in the first place if they posed that threat..." The realization began to dawn upon him that he'd gone off on an entire tangent that was rendered moot the more he thought about it. "You know, forget I said anything about it. It's a great idea." He made sure to punctuate the following silence by removing the "hat" from his Warframe and placing it atop Ancilla's proxy, letting the rest of his helmet dissipate into the collar of his frame like water, the materials slowly cascading along his features until it was gone. "So how would we go about facilitating that growth?"

As the Tenno's gaze swept across the room once more, mostly on the lookout so that he wouldn't trip over anything, he spied something that was different than before: Another Tenno slowly meandering their way towards him, though it didn't seem intentional that she was coming towards he and Ancilla's proxy; she seemed to be absorbed in her own thoughts and actions. He could just make out what she was saying, and she seemed to be... Reading a story? To the plants? 'To each their own, I suppose.' He thought to himself. He wasn't going to make an effort to go out of his way to get the Tenno's attention, as he would end up passing by her at some point. No use yelling out across the room and interrupting his current conversation.

  13. zThXl9c.jpg

Honestly I'm only angry for comedic purposes at this point

Then why do Warframes have set genders if there's no one inside them.

Can't be for aesthetic reasons, half the Orokin didn't even know they existed, they thought they were a myth. There's no reason to give a gender to a frame that has nothing inside of it (and yes, there's nothing inside of it, you can say that a consciousness is transferred all you want, that still doesn't magically make flesh and bone and CHARACTER appear inside a frame.)

You can say it's for gameplay reasons all you want, to give cast diversity and all that other HR bullS#&$, but I think it's because DE are just making things up as they go.

One of the core tenets of story design in general is creating likeable characters. DE, and by extension anyone who is actually happy with this new "revelation" doesn't seem to mind havign a character -a central character, a MAIN character supposed to represent you and everything you stand for (or your OC or whatever since we're talking about it in the RP forum)- thrust upon them and being basically forced to like it.

"Here's your character, a 14 year old kid that will never age and will never mature, one that will always see the world through the eyes of a child. Their thoughts are thoughts of a child. Everything about them is a child. And I swear to god the next person that tries to use the excuse that "they were experimented on and Void radiation, technocyte, etc. etc. they slaughter millions of enemies daily" will be the reason I call in the Exterminatus.

It does not matter what upbringing one of those things has been given, it is still going to see the world through a child's warped perspective, and you know what? That's absolutely mind-numbingly stupid for all of the wrong reasons.

They're more likely to snap and go batS#&$ insane just for fun because they don't need to be aware of their consequences. Children don't think that way. They think in instant gratification. They want something, and they want it now. It doesn't matter what problems might arise from that.

Now give those kids genocide machines and we have a recipe for disaster not even the Stalker can take care of.

And Space, my rage isn't coming from the fact that there's nothing in the Warframe (which there isn't, it's just a flesh golem or something) and no matter what you say, not physically being there will and always will diminish the capacity for both survivability and emotional involvement. Like Ice said before, it's like being in a glorified Oculus Rift. Sure, you're still gonna feel the pain, and sure, you're still gonna see things through the eyes of the unfortunate Warframe that the kid decided to put through hell today, but you aren't going to die from it.

You say that the Orokin would have cut corners.

    No they @(*()$ wouldn't.

They were the most paranoid and tyrannical race in the system before the Sentients came along and decided to murderize them. Reading the Crewman Synthesis entry (and hell, looking at how they made the Grineer), it shows that anything that they didn't understand or could not be readily made to make sure it didn't come back to either bite them in the ! or fail due to an oversight. The Tenno and the Warframes? Their ONLY  way of combating the Sentients? The ONLY way for them to fight back against a seemingly invincible opponent? The ONLY hope for their race to continue to exist? And you think they would cut corners on something that important? Even if the Sentients were bursting through warp gates straight into the A****** of every Sectarus, the Orokin would never cut corners for something so important.

Let's keep in mind that we're talking a strictly roleplay perspective here. Sure, U18 might be nice and fine and dandy from a gameplay perspective, maybe eve a story perspective. It's interesting enough, sure.

But roleplaying such an asinine thing? It would be as if you're roleplaying a roleplay, if I can put it so simply. There's nothing in the Warframe, your character is sitting in a space chair in the back of an Orbiter, essentially remote controlling their OC (the Warframe) to go out and do all the dirty work for them. If their consciousness is in the Warframe, that still doesn't mean that they can talk with anyone else. If you say that all the little quips the Operator so gratingly spouts all the time are indeed their thoughts, then no communication can be had from that. Two Operators have their Warframes go and sit down at a table.

    Nothing happens.
They can just sit there and stare blankly at each other because, since there's nothing (important) in a Warframe other than technocyte and flesh apparently, there's no vocal cords. And again, going back to my question about Warframe genders: WHY THE HELL IS THAT A THING if they're all just being controlled by Operators, hm?

Somebody can yell at me for being negative all they want, but until they give me a good reason why I should retcon all of my lovingly crafted characters for some brat in an Orbiter, I'll continue being angry.

I already explained my headcanon. I already explained that it makes much more sense to have both Tenno and Operators.

The Operators: kids in an Orbiter subjected to Void #@*&$@y on Zariman that occasionally like to chime in with a comment every now and again, in charge of controlling Tenno.

The Tenno: Actual trained individuals put through hell and back when being subjected to Technocyte and put in a Warframe to be controlled by an Operator. Brainwashed by the Orokin into believing they have their own will.

This way I'll have to change very little and I can still keep in line with DE's absolute insanity.

Quite honestly, I just want to be done talking about this.

  14. I just hope everyone realizes how useless two of the Warframe quests are now that we have essentially been reduced to children sitting in a space recliner.

Mirage Quest? AN entire @(*()$ plot hole because the Lotus is for some reason getting overemotional about a suit of armor being torn apart by Sentients. I'd really like to see someone try and explain that to me in a way that's not grasping at straws. And no, it's not because the Operator and the frame are linked to the point that if one dies, so does the other, because that doesn't happen. The Orokin don't do that sort of thing when you're fighting a war. You make a bunch of replaceable frames and let the genocidal children control them. One gets ripped to shreds? Just give them a new one.

Limbo Theorem? Same thing. "Original Limbo is dead" my !. He's sitting in a space chair somewhere out in space, and his favorite Warframe or whatever is gone. Oh no whatever will I do, this is so emotional and tragic.

DE should really try and read their own lore sometimes.

Ever pay attention to what Steve said regarding the reveal? That "they took this approach because the Tenno in Warframe was unoriginal and boring"

That tells me that they seem to only be doing it because they wanted to be different.

Space marine trope might be common, but there's a reason for that. It's just a slap in the face of people that want meaningful roleplay.

In short, I've already put in my two cents, and why yes, I AM mad. It's the last thing I'll say about it.

By the way, Space explicitly stated there was no bar, but a canteen, and very little to no alcohol is on the waystation.

  15. Space,

It's not the fact it's taken them out of the game, speaking from a strictly story-based roleplay perspective

It's almost like the biggest middle finger someone can give to a community like this.
Imagine that you, like me, and everyone else on the forum, have a myriad OCs. They all have hopes, dreams, needs, wants, emotions, and desires. Everything that makes them a believable character in this universe. Now imagine if you will in depth just what U18 has done.

It's taken every single one of those characters, crumpled them up and tossed them in the trash. Why? Because now we've got a 10 year old Operator sitting in the back of the Orbiter, effectively making them invincible. There is nothing in a Warframe, according to U18. It's just the materials you've made and flesh shoved inside. This in turn devalues them abysmally. Sure, they might have dangerous, expensive materials in them, but THAT'S ALL YOU'RE LOSING. You are no longer having to fear death, by embracing U18 in RP. Sure, it may hurt the Operators when the Warframe goes down and has to be revived. But the Warframe dying does not adversely affect them in any way. You, and by extension, the Operators no longer have to care about that Tenno in the Warframe, or whatever it is that U18 says it is, because there's no emotional attachment to it. You lost a toy. A tool. Do you mourn the loss of a tool? No. It's human nature (and arguably moreso for the Orokin, whom the Operators descend from) to attribute minimal worth to something made to be used. A tool. In one swoop, DE was able to make every single OC irrelevant and force you to make a @(*()$ child. A child, whom despite all you say regarding maturity and warrior mentality, is still a child.
This means that their value of something's worth is far lower than a rational adult's. They break their Warframe, they just send out another to go pick up the groceries they need for another one while they sit back and relax in a chair in a void-masked Orbiter, effectively invisible.

And regarding these @(*()$ children, any and ALL character interaction is now either gone or moot. Essentially, you plop down two Warframes in a room before U18, and they strike up a conversation, etc. Etc. Now, put two Warframes in a room, and nothing will happen. It doesn't need to (hell it might not even be able to). Why? Because of the Operators behind the impervious metal and void curtain. There's no need for interaction when you're essentially taking piles of credits and materials to a mission to have them do what needs to be done.
The Warframes(Tenno, your OCs) are no longer characters, but personal attack dogs for a child that cares so little about it's well-being, that they will sooner build another one than risk feeling the sensation of pain themselves to retrieve that particular Warframe.

U18 does NOT make for good RP. There is no inherent risk to anything anymore, there is no meaningful character interaction (no rivalry, no "love can bloom," none of that.)
Honestly, I'm starting to think DE is trying to get me to make Corpus and Grineer characters just to escape from this awful canon they've laid out. Thanks, but no thanks, I'm not retconning all of the characters I spent time and love making just because I now have to be limited to one amnesiac kid that sits in a god damned chair all day.

Not to mention that two of the foremost quests involving Warframes in game (Limbo Theorem and Mirage) now make no sense, because the fact that the original Limbo is dead because of a Riftwalk gone wrong holds no importance now that he was just a kid in a chair. And with Mirage, why the hell would the Lotus be so torn up about the fact that she lost one of the suits? That it "died" per se? Because it had no life to begin with. Mirage is sitting in a chair.

Don't mind me, it's just the fact that I'm ABSOLUTELY @(*()$ LIVID that no one seems to mind tossing their characters in the garbage for this awful revelation.

  16. Hey, if I move important files from my PC to a pendrive and then toss that pendrive into a horrible war against adaptive creatures that are overpowering an ancient empire, those files do run the risk of being deleted forever.

That's why you always keep a backup, ECH

  17. Null quite liked how organized Ancilla had kept things in Hydroponics, made things much easier to keep track of, especially on a ship such as this. He pondered the idea of Banishing one of the drones to the Rift, just to see if it would continue to go about its duties, or if it would become confused, but decided not to do so. It probably wasn't a good idea to mess with something so finely calibrated. He began to walk down one of the many aisles of plants, talking with the tertiary Cephalon. "I'm not sure of how much use I can be. I mean, I may look flashy, but all I know of aesthetic beauty is what I've seen of the Orokin. They sure did know how to make something look pretty."

Null tapped his chin, having partially removed his helmet on the way here, but still leaving enough to where Ancilla could communicate with him through it. "I suppose that means we just need to start taking things from the Tower we docked at and move them in here, no?" He chuckled softly, clearly indicating that he was joking. "Or perhaps taking a page from the many dojos I've seen Tenno create. There's no way to project an illusions of some serene nature scene like one would see on Earth, is there?"

He had idly grabbed one of the potted plants from the rack it sat on and had started taking it along with him as he walked down the aisle. It was a cactus, specifically one that might be called "prickly pear." On it were fiery colored flowers blooming, at which, Null would glance at, before looking back up to make sure he wasn't walking into the path of anything important.

  18.

Feeling Aegia's head snap back from her kick gives Souna a lot of satisfaction. Not only is it a very efficient hit, but also have Souna's capabilities taken the Rhino completely by surprise. That's one step into a very good direction to make her doubtful about how to deal with the highheaded lady, which in turn diminishes her combat perfomance.
However, a not so good step is when Souna feels her ankle being tightly grabbed. In this pose, forcing Aegia in any way with her leg is out of the question, and even without remembering the many losses in her life that began with her leg being grabbed, her warrior's common sense realizes the danger immediately. Her instincts try to make her give up her defense and strike at whatever bit she can reach of Aegia to make her let go and retreat. But there is another, calm voice inside her head:
~"Do not strike from confusion. Strike from the void between thoughts and action. Cut your enemy's strength, cut him down to his very soul."~ There is more, but it's muffled to Souna's consciousness, who remembered hearing this lesson again and again. It's virtually engraved into her skull: Do not attack unless you know how and why.
Until Souna has calmed down, Aegia has already lifted her up. In the very last moment Souna can raise one arm to protect her neck from being choked as Aegia wraps her arm around it.
This situation is nothing different from the scenarios before: Aegia has taken initative, has made her resolution, and laid it out for Souna to see. One leg and one arm of her are locked momentarily, but Aegia can neither see Souna now, nor can she move a hand or use her legs, since Souna is technically 'above' her. And attacking from above is one of her strong points.

At the peak of the step Aegia takes, in exactly that moment between rise and fall, Souna twists her body most flexibly again and brings her free arm in between her own side and Aegia's shoulder. When the Rhino forces her down, Souna puts all her agility into the one single effort to not crash onto Aegia's shoulders, but use her voluntarily stuck arm as a lever - like a crowbar - to push herself towards Aegia's backside and slide down her back. Of course this will not free her foot, but Souna is standing headfirst when flying countless times, and is not the slightest bit afraid of it.
If her plan succeeds, she'll have her leg still held up near Aegi's shoulder, but her upper body falling towards the ground, catching it with one of her arms early. The other one will use her position - directly in Aegia's back, hardly perceptible for her - to strike with the finger's first knuckles or the elbow towards Aegia's kidney. The intent is simply reaching deep and cause pain in the soft organ's tissue. There is not a single thought wasted on doubts or restraint, it's her full force - with Aegia holding her leg, Souna can put quite some force into the stabs. If Aegia does not react fast enough, a knee to the back of her head would top it off - still held up solely by Aegia's grip and one arm extended to not crash facefirst into the floor.

Feeling the Zephyr-user start squirming about within her grasp only made her grin. Truly this was the most glorious form of combat. In melee, feeling one's muscle tense and stiffen against her, taking blow after blow, being close to an opponent and being able to feel the heat from their body. There was nothing else quite like it in the system. But upon feeling the strange lack of a resounding impact, or even popping of bones after her step towards the floor, Aegia knew that something had gone wrong. That, and of course she knew that Souna's movement was not random. No, every move of hers was calculated in some way.

It's no wonder that it comes as no surprise to the She-Rhino when she feels the very familiar feeling of a stabbing jab to one of her kidneys, causing her stance to falter somewhat. She grits her teeth and seethes inaudibly. She knew that it was an effort to get her to let go of her leg out of instinct, but doing that would allow Souna to get away and into her own preferred range of combat.

    This was not an option.

Instead of dropping the bird-lady and allowing her to retreat and begin her high-flying antics, Aegia opts to tighten her crushing grip on her leg and swing her over her head. Her intent? To slam Souna into the ground in front of her as hard as possible. In a way, it was just like using a much lighter, more flashy version of her Jat Kittag. If this were to succeed, Aegia would start to repeat the action a few times, to soften up the golden feathered bird.

  19. I'll definately join! I'll need a tick to work on a profile.

    Name: Raphael

    Race: Tenno -Formerly Human-

    Warframe (If applicable): Frost

    Loadout: Sybaris, Somati, Nami Solo

Appearance: Outside his Warframe, Raphael keeps his dirty blonde hair short and spikey, he's somewhat muscular but also slender in body structure and his skin is pale as ice but the Technocyte in his body has caused his spine and biceps to become metallic in texture.

Warframe Appearance (If applicable): A slender Frost with a Deep Blue coat and standard Frost helmet and black armoured leggings on his warframe,

Personality: Often friendly, cheerful and compassionate to his fellow Tenno, Raphael also has been to be gentlemanly to his fellow female Tenno and often to some male Tenno also, despite this, Raphael has a deep hate for the Sentients and is often quite cold in conversation about them.

Bio and History: (WORK IN PROGRESS)

I swear if he doesn't have a rose in his mouth at all times I'll be severely disappointed.

But all jokes aside, everything looks good and I have no trouble accepting Raphael along, I'll just need a Bio and History before I can officially add him to the roster.

I'll also need you to choose for him which team he's along with.

    Here it be.

    Name: Uriel

    Race: Tenno

    Warframe (If applicable): Rhino Prime

Loadout: Primarily Ankyros Prime, also carries around a Vectis Prime to work with in quiet missions. Follows the Way of Vazarin.

Appearance: An intimidatingly tall and broad dark-skinned Operator. Uri's cheekbones are covered in spiky, metallic scales, he shaves himself bald, and he has bright yellow tattoos that cross over his eyes, which are grey.

Warframe Appearance (If applicable): Thrak (not Arcane) Helmet. Decorated with Edo Prime armour, with the Gilded Champions badge on his right shoulder plate. Primary colour off-white, bright yellow markings and energy.

Personality/Bio & History: Despite his Warframe and general appearance, Uri is soft-spoken and exceedingly polite, though this is to be expected from a Tenno of his standing. He was subjected to an intense training regimen that tested each of the Seven Principles to the greatest degree ever since he was first given his frame - his "true body", he believes.

Passing intellectual and Focus tests with flying colours, Uri was quickly made a part of the Gilded Champions, despite only above-average physical prowess. One of the reasons for this was his unwavering loyalty to the Orokin Empire and subservient disposition, but despite the great respect Uriel has for his commanders, whispers of abuse, enslavement, and unbridled cruelty are slowly making him doubt his allegiance to the Emperors.

Despite everything, Uriel is willing to take a stand in the name of the weak, for which he fights Sentient with unending determination.

All looks good here, cap'n. Will add Uri to the upcoming character list.

    Name: Lorist Ayuta

    Race: Orokin

    Division: Steel Aegis

    Height: 5’11”

    Weight: 97lbs

Loadout: Lorist Ayuta carries no weapons. She is forbidden by the Empire to do so.

Appearance: Ayuta is a tall woman with gaunt and marred features. She has high cheekbones, a gently curving facial structure, almost sickly pale skin, and almond shaped dull grey eyes. Her cheeks cave ever so slightly inward, and her neck is thin. Her hair is colored an impossibly dark black and is short, resting atop her head with bangs that frame her face. On her temples are Lora nodes, protruding and sending metallic facia throughout her face. They glow with a very soft green hint almost invisible to the naked eye.

Physically, Ayuta is a very frail woman, weak and thin, she is not the definition of beauty the Orokin try hard to maintain among their ranks. Her limbs are thin, her ribs can be seen through her jumpsuit, and her face is rather gaunt. In addition to this, she has a Lora device embedded in her right palm, which sends lines of snaking metallic tissue through all parts of her body, connecting to the nodes on her temples, and other nodes embedded throughout her body.

Ayuta wears a very simple black and gray jumpsuit that covers her entire body, save for her head and palms. Compared to other Orokin garments, this one seems to be made to a lesser standard, but is nonetheless functional.

Personality: Lorist Ayuta appears to be a very quiet and soft spoken woman, rarely ever speaking and spending most of her free time wandering the depths of her mind, playing out random scenarios and answering hypothetical questions she poses to herself. When she is not thinking, she is working to heal the soldiers she serves with. She is thorough and mechanical about her work, very efficient, there is no love in what she does, no hint of anything.

Because in reality, Lorist Ayuta is trapped beneath a mountain of sadness and despair. She feels empty, like a black void has swallowed her heart through and through. There is no emotion. Happiness is foreign, anger is unknown, and sadness is a fleeting friend. She doesn’t care about anything, not the men she heals, not the men who fall, not the war they fight. Nothing. She is a nihilist. She believes that nothing matters, that in the end, you are alone, utterly alone and that this will never change. Everyone is born simply to die.

    She has lost everything.

    So why fight?

Bio and History: Lorist Ayuta and her sister, Bila were born for a singular purpose. They were to mend wounds, nothing more, nothing less. They did so very well, they were a perfect pair, psychically linked and best friends, they saved more lives with their combined effort than most could say. They traveled from front to front, battle to battle, had seen things that would reduce greater men to tears, and they persevered through everything, all the death and despair, and most of all, the prejudice.

Despite what they had done, the lives they had saved, they were hated. The Orokin were vain, obsessed with beauty and perfection. So when a Dax gazed upon their scarred faces, he would spit at them, he would berate them, and he would beg for mercy when his legs had been torn off. Despite this, though, the Sisters did not care. They were doing good things, were making a real difference, and they loved it.

Until Bilas was killed by a Sentient drone.

After that, after her one friend had been torn away, after she could no longer feel her sister’s joy, her fear, her anger, she changed. Bilas’ death had been an incredibly traumatic event that had almost driven her to madness. She stopped eating, grew thin and gaunt, and became absolutely dead inside, but she continued to do her work, not because she liked it, but because she had to. There was never a choice.

Eventually, the Empire moved her to Europa with the Steel Aegis so she could assist with the defense and perhaps raise morale. But Ayuta knew why they had really moved her. They moved her because she was not as effective as she was without Bilas, they moved her simply to dispose of her.

And for that, for the war, for the prejudice, for Bilas, she despises the Empire.

But she continues to heal the soldiers, because she has no choice. She never had.

A very interesting character, and I did not expect to have a non-Tenno so soon!

Nothing here looks out of place, and there's nothing for me to nitpick either. I'll add Ayuta into the upcoming character list on the main post.

  20. I dunno Space, my personal headcanon involving U18 is a bit different, though shares similarities with yours.

    Basically

In the Orokin Era, there were two castes, if you will, regarding the Tenno and Warframes.

One caste were the Operators, the ones involved in the Zariman incident, and the one that was on the Moon.

Then, there are the Tenno themselves, a seperate caste that, so far from what I've come up with, were normal Orokin humans, simply raised and trained in the Old Ways, and taught to BELIEVE that they think for themselves, when in reality theur purpose was to be put inti Warframes and have their actions primarily controlled by their Operator. I mean, why ELSE would Warframes have gender differences?

This would allow them to actually do that thing that many are fond of in this thread, that is, having their characters REMOVE their Warframe. Because if they removed it now, in U18 canon, they would simply collapse and that's honestly kind of stupid.

In a way, U18 effectively turned all Warframes into glorified Corrupted withiut the face-brain impalement device.

In short, U18 reeks of anime cliché and removes all drama from any roleplay because it's akin to Virtual Reality, or the Matrix, more like.
