  1. I can recall the overwhelming amount of time I spent, feigning death behind a guard in a newbie zone in Everquest, turning in stacks of bone chips 4 at a time to get some negligible increase in the local faction.  It took what seemed like forever, but I got my elf to be wildly popular in the local lizard city.  From there, I was able to complete a multi-part quest chain to get a very unique weapon.

The work there had multiple benefits.  I got access to a hub town (not that many towns on that continent), special content/trainers (a shadowknight guild in a different city), and a weapon that could normally only be grabbed by members of that race.  Getting the standing to walk in was part of it, but I had to do further work to be able to complete the weapon quest.  There's also the matter of bragging rights...

    Ah, the good ol' days.

  2. That's your opinion, and its kind of insulting to people who actually had fun builds based around one ability. Why should players be punished for being creative? Whole thread smells like flame bait just because of this one bit of your post. I stopped reading after that because you sound like a whiny kid.

If you honestly think your 1-mod build is anything but generic, maybe you'll be encouraged to use your frames to the most of their potential when the update comes out, eh?

The most work that comes out of making a 1-mod build is the Formaing associated with it, just so you can get the cookie cutter 'boost' mods of the Ability's flavor to maximize the efficiency on a singular skill. -Duration +Damage -Cost, wow, such build, much depth.

  3. My feedback is in the 'good job,' direction for once, instead of 'bad job,' way.

Removing Ability Mods, and consolidating the # of mods slots back to 8 is... 'progressive.'

Now, let me be clear, I think removed Abilites from being equippable in mod-slots is a negative, as, it completely removes Abilities from the interesting mod system that makes Warframe unique.

However, I do feel that with the promise of so-called 'Augments' for abilities, that the overall direction the game is taking is much better than... 3 days ago?

BUT! Do not undo this quality change by catering to those who demand extra returns. Changes have to be made, and I'm very excited to see them happening. Returning excess Forma is super kind, and my only suggestion is to give a 3-day/7-day booster to go along with the update.

Do not release a... 'legendary Forma,' or try to appease any of the other suggestions. (Because my suggestion is the best, you see?) We already have Arcane Helmets and Legendary Cores. Enough is enough. If change needs to be made, to fix the game, improve it, balance it, do it. People will get upset, but, it's bad track-record to try and 100% satisfy every dissenter.

Do try to consolidate the Forma'd mod slots over those that didn't get Forma'd. If a player had Forma'd an ability, but not a blank slot (for whatever reason,) be sure to attempt to force those together to minimize Forma returns and maximize appeasement.

I do not feel sorry for those who used 0/1 abilities, as, they were playing the wrong Warframe if that's the best build they could come up with. And, it seems like you're committed to dropping slots down to 8, so I'm not too worried about anything there.

This thread will be ill-received but we, as a community, needs to accept that changes must be made to improve the game. There is much more to focus on than the only actual progressive change they've made. (Mmm, gotta love some Tabard-locked Daily Quest Reputation Grinds.)

  4. It's amazing that no matter how progressive the change, people still feel it's not good enough.

This is a step in the right direction. Why do you need to be further reimbursed? These are the people that are stifling the developer, as, no matter what changes, players are going to demand reprimands.

Anyone who Forma'd an Ability slot first, too, is at fault for not understanding how Forma work.

Warframes are the easiest to level.

  5. This is about how I understood it as well. It seems like being liked by a syndicate is much easier than being hated. The placeholder screenshots they provided showed the disapproval points for the opposing faction being half of the gain for the represented faction.

Oh really? I thought the 'enemy' of a faction got full negative points, while secondary factions get half positive/negative based on relations.

Any number less than a 1:1 ratio, though, would result in a perfect relation with everyone.

(And, some number more than a 1:1 ratio would fix the problem of the 'negative' reputation cap)

  6. It's hard to say how all the lore fits together, but, Humanity has been taking some hard hits in this universe.

Grineer are warped, sterile clones of Humanity. The New Loka wish to distance themselves from this. They are unclean, clone-spawn.

The Corpus are slowly blending the lines between Humanity and cyborgs. Corpus have lost sight of what it means to be a 'human,' and likewise do not wish that their future is that of half-man, half-machine.

Humanity evolves, they grow stronger, but... they don't mutate. They're still humans.

Tenno still maintain their humanity, somewhat. In an ideal world for New Loka, the Tenno are no doubt outcasts, shunned or purged... But, the Tenno probably look at New Loka as the future. Tenno once were humans, now void-tainted. So, for those who see the future of the system for humans, no Grineer, no Corpus, no Tenno or Infested... New Loka would be the faction for you.

  7.

What do you mean by that?

I feel kubrows got old and worthless pretty fast, all the new mechaniques, features and all the kubrow system, are now on the past.

Feels it was a bunch a work, for something I used/play for around a couple of weeks.

Now, I don't care, nor want anything else, related with kubrows evermore, and yet there's all the stuff they left in my inventory and that useless giant incubator occupying space on my liset.

And I think a giant part of the community still likes or cares for this feature.
So was that what you meant with Archwings becoming the next Kubrows?
Cause I do feel lonely on hating these little pets.

No, that's what I mean. Archwings will be popular for a while... And, then, they'll kind of drift off into nothingness, as we get Underwater levels. Or, Catbrows. Or, U19 feature. Then, they'll rarely receive updates outside of bug fixes and become 'Planet Gimmick X.'

I think new ability mods are not even necessary, I think things that just change an aspect of an ability would be nice (kinda like the runes in diablo 3). some examples:

Make vortex pull enemies in for a second and then collapse and deal damage + ragdoll,or let it weaken enemies but at cost of reduced time. Let lokis radial disarm deactivate shields for 3 seconds and stun moas.

Let my desecrate explode corpses at the cost of 100% health orb drops.

Let shurikens explode on impact at the cost of homing in.

short: yes, variety is the key, I agree to the rest you wrote.

I was just suggesting new abilities, because, that's existing functionality. The idea isn't to change something/improve on something... It's to work with what's already there.

  8. I started playing around Update 11. I remember Valkyrie coming out, and being impressed that the game could have such fun combat, while being updated with new stuff constantly. Warframe is an enjoyable horde-slaughtering first person shooter.

But, given it's been 3 'major' updates, with a fourth right around the corner... It's amazing that the game's core mechanisms have been ignored. Still. Every update expands on the game's structure, while piling more on top of the base of the game.

Mods? Abilities? Sentinels? Those were the structure of the game, when I was first around... Now, it's Player Ships, Kubrow and the upcoming Archwingii.

Kubrow are a Sentinel expansion pack. A great idea, really. But, what about the original batch? Carrier still reigns supreme, with it's Vacuum ability. The others are left to stagnate outside of each individual niche group that claims their Sentinel is the best.

Player Ships are the continuation of Dojos, and a precursor to a living, walkable world. Space Stations? Hubs? No complaints.

And, Archwings... The future! One update away. A whole new way to fight in Warframe! Different Archwings, different missions! New enemies! More mods, more abilities! But, how long will the luster last? How long before Archwings are the next Kubrow?

    Weapons

Warframe is continually releasing content in an attempt to spike player numbers. Over, and over, and over. Every week or so, we're given a new cosmetic. Sometimes, a new weapon. A new weapon, that, isn't defining in anyway. A new burst rifle, with a delicious model. But... Where is the depth? The Hind is a burst fire weapon that fires 5 times. The Sybaris is a two-round burst rifle. The Burston is a 3-round burst rifle. What does the Tiberon bring to the table that the others don't? A new model. Some tweaked stats, (accuracy, low status, wow!) But, does it really need to exist? What builds does it open up?

    Mods

More content is ALWAYS good, but, there are varying levels of return on the content.

How do you build a Hind? Serration. Elemental Damage Mods. Fire Rate, Punch-Through, Multi-Shot.

How do you build a Tiberon? Serration. Elemental Damage Mods. Fire Rate, Punch-Through, Multi-Shot.

That isn't depth. That isn't interesting. It doesn't take advantage of the Hind's rapid 5 bullets. It doesn't take advantage of the Tiberon's extremely high accuracy. It's... one-dimensional. While the goal is usually the same in all games, 'maximize damage,' the current state of mods is absolutely stagnant. Sure, some status weapons benefit from some status mods. And there are other choice examples of interesting weapons that were released recently... But, new weapon content like that falls flat.

No one asked themselves, or the forums, or their clan: "What can I do with this weapon?" Because the answer is the same as always.

    Warframes / Abilities

Now, the problem isn't just with the mods, but, it's an easy place to press.

There are currently 20 Warframes. Each with 4 ability mods. ... That's it. They still haven't expanded on the individual Warframe's powers. There are some ideas as to why, (why give Loki Mirage's skills, if they can just make a whole new Warframe, with a whole new Warframe slot, and Warframe to sell, with skins!) But, I'd rather just give DE the benefit of the doubt and suggest that it's hard work to think of new abilities.

Now, some Warframes are hard to create abilities for. What does Rhino -need-? He has a DPS buff, a stun, a dash, and extra survivability. For balance reasons, it's completely understandable to say that Rhino is in a good place. But, what about Ash? A flourishy assassin-type, and no one's thought of a new move for him? Or Excalibur? The star-child of Warframe fame, and there hasn't been one alternative to Slash Dash or Super Jump?

    Power Customization

There was a time where players were able to further customize their individual Warframes. Currently, they reside in the hands of rich players.

While their implementation wasn't... ideal. (Items on a timed-release schedule that improved the specific Warframes, or... Purchasable with real life currency.) They did provide further customization for players to use. The only methods for specializing a Warframe, are, still, the mod cards, (which are lacking.)

I can understand wanting to sweep this one under the rug, and making all Warframes carbon copies of each other... But, there is still the unsightly blight that SOME Arcane helmets still exist, leaving the potential for the future of stat-wise customization in a weird quantum limbo.

    Solution

A lot of people simply refuse any complaints unless there is a solution given for these problems. Unfortunately, no matter what I suggest, it'll be met with discontent as it will require work.

It call comes down to... Update existing content. We've asked for it before, U13, U14, U15... Will U16 finally show some of the older content getting some love?

Mods need to be redone, entirely. There have been plenty of potential Mod insertion points. (Events. Events. Events.) Yet, they're simply raw-damage boosting mods. Seriously? I understand Events are limited time, and creating quality exclusive mods isn't 'fair,' but, at least show some more creativity than... +120%... slash damage.

Warframe abilities. Give players the stock 4 by default, upon being built, and slowly insert various new ability mods into the drop tables. Super Slide for Excalibur? Passive Poison-Resistance Aura for Trinity? It's tough work, implementing new abilities, but, if 1-2 were added, per month? I guarantee players will be much more enthused about ACTUAL gameplay content, over rehashed burst rifle, or armor-set #25.

Weapons... I think they have the potential to be fixed simply with a mod-rework. Providing players with an interesting set of mods will allow them to play to their favorite weapon's strengths, instead of copy pasting the generic MASSIVE DPS build.

Power customization is tough... But why do Arcane Helmet exist? Is that really 'acceptable' to the developers?

  9.

    We can build Prime Warframes.
    We can build Prime Weapons.
    We can build Prime Sentinels.
But we can't build Prime Accessories.

My two cents for all this:

Warframes, Weapons and Sentinels all have gameplay elements associated with them.

    Accessories... are cosmetic.

If you don't want to buy them, you don't have to. They don't influence how you play the game in the least. They don't unlock special builds, nor do they make you more powerful.

  10. No it isnt. It's cost absolutely nothing to click on everything.

    Disagree entirely.

If a player 'stumbles' upon a Platnium-only weapon, the first time, their first impression is: "Wow, that gun looks cool, and requires Platinum. How do I get it? Oh, it's the Premium currency for this game... Lame! Game is probably Pay to Win, if my ONLY access to this item is the Premium Currency..."

Not: "Wow, that gun looks cool, and requires Platinum. How do I get it? Oh, it's the Premium currency... Awesome! Let me explore and see if I can get the weapon using credits! *click, click, click*"

Having a "Buy with Platinum" and "Purchase Blueprint" next to each other is a VERY elegant solution, as mousing over the Blueprint would inform the player that they could construct the weapon using items found in-game, as well as consuming time... Or, they could buy it immediately, for a bit of Platinum.

Splitting the same weapon into two different categories isn't sensible.

  11. Oh look at that, no mentions at all about it being a stable build, like you assumed it to be.

DE has more or less always done things by the seat of their pants. You may not like it, but that's how they operate.

Well, I'm glad at least in this sea of hate DE has one loyal first mate to make sure their.... poopdecks are properly swabbed.

It's happened in the past, they should've learned their lesson then.

Saying Thursday was release day suggested they had an actual release for us. It's not here. Who is to blame other than the company itself?

  12. So because you assumed something, DE is lying?

    That's cute.

This Thursday will mark the release of our most ambitious Update yet, Update 14! Intel from www.theliset.com reveals information on what’s coming your way this week. Get ready, Tenno! The scope of the changes coming may give some a bumpy ride, hold on tight! We’ll be standing by to catch you!

Also, I'm glad you think I'm cute! :^3

  13. Because bugs are never found at the last minute, thus rendering the most recent compile unusable.

Nah, that never happens. Not ever.

This is why we have a Stable release, and an Unstable release.

You put all the features together, make sure they work, compile, bug fix, compile, bug fix, compile, bug fix. Once critical bugs are gone, release!

When they said Thursday, I thought it was a given that they finished a stable build, but, instead, they were just lying.

  14. The question is then do you still want to tell people WHEN to expect an update? Countdown sites are a bad idea. Spoiler sites are fine. When you do a major update that requires meticulous debugging why put the pressure on yourself?

Why was a date announced when there wasn't even a finished compile ready for launch?

The producers seriously dropped the ball.
