I've heard it from Steve himself that it's not a storage problem on their end, it's the amount of data that the user has to pull from the servers when logging in, which makes it take longer to login.

Oh that's very interesting to know, thank you!

There's a related problem in another game I play (Mabinogi), where inventory space was traditionally pretty limited... but then after like 6 years or so they started making a lot of space-expanding bags available.  In a sort of short time frame the amount a character could carry on-hand shot up like 20-fold (without anything else changing to accommodate it).  There's definitely a big loading speed difference between my main character and one of my side characters, so I packet logged it one day and yeah, it turned out to be hitches loading and then parsing all the item info.

another option is remove the random naming function of rivens which takes a stupid amount of storage by itself

I'm pretty sure that the parts of the names are stored once in-game, and are then referenced by the mods.  They're based on the existing stats of the mods (the bonuses), so it's not like it's an entire string per riven... assuming it was coded properly.

Mayber there is more behind the scenes then just the disposition we are seeing.

Correct, there's two things to note here.

1 - Disposition is not a single value of 1/2/3/4/5 like the display indicates.  It's a more granular value.  Not really important for riven storage, just wanted to point out that there are stats that go into it that we don't directly see in-game.

2 - Even for the same disposition, stats have random variances when rerolled.  For example the same riven might get +52.3% multishot on one roll, and 51.5% multishot on the second roll (with the same number of positives/negatives).  The results of those random variances need to be stored too.

Computing power has a known cost, why not make it possible for players to pay for it,

A single-time payment for ongoing storage is generally not a very effective business move.

It's normal for services with online storage (like website hosting) to charge monthly/yearly fees to keep it up.

I don't think DE is willing to look into a subscription service for Warframe (nor do I think many players would approve).

If we can take the Charges off the Archwing Launcher, why can't we also rip the purple maximum number tag off of the riven collections?

Taking charges off the launcher actually reduces the amount of data that needs to be stored.  They are no longer required to track how many charges you have (which could be a large number and needs to have space to account for that).  After the update, they'll only need to track whether you have charges or not (a true or false, a much smaller value that cannot increase in size as time goes on).

  4. There's a setting to choose if you're on a desktop or a laptop, that actually determines if you're in a higher (desktop) or lower (laptop) priority bracket to host.

Now, if the room has multiple people before mission start, having the host automatically popcorn to the most suited connection/PC in the group on mission start would be quite a lovely feature... unfortunately I think DE's forrays into this (which I swear happened some time in the like, u8-13 range, if my memory is to be trusted) specifically ran into the issue of their Host Migration code being a terrifying mess (probably largely due to the trigger being on host DC, meaning it has to reconstruct a lot of information that wasn't on client-turned-host's machine).

That still happens to me when playing with a friend that has a bad connection, so it's still a thing if it's bad enough for Warframe to notice.

This has indeed been suggested multiple times. It's usually suggested by people who didn't read the Plains of Eidolon patch notes and thus did not notice that Vacuum is now a universal passive to all Warframes

I just looked through them and while I can find various bugfixes and such related to vacuum, I can't find the note you're talking about.

    Got any specific details?

I read on the website that because of the complications ash prime will be given to anyone who logs in with a linked account for the next 7 days. This was posted Monday

It was within the past 7 days from the time of that post.

    Not the future 7 days.

If you did not log in previously with a linked account you won't get it.

So you agree they should have made a special message and changed who baros arrival was sent to

Yes, because he sends a message each time.

but you won’t agree that his coming should have been sent in a message?

I don't agree that there should be an inbox message for existing news articles, that'd be spammy and annoying and they're already visible in everybody's ship.

But don’t try to convince me that sending out a message ahead of time wouldn’t have been a better idea

Do you actually want an inbox message for every news article?

  8. 9 minutes ago, (PS4)Visegrip117 said:

The why the heck did you send me a notification to my inbox telling me that a Baro I CAN NOT ACCESS is here?

It's an automated message that happens every time he shows up.

I agree they probably should have made it not show up or changed who it was sent to before the system sent it out.

Also if they can send a message every other week telling me regular old Baro is here, why didn’t they send a message saying A rare event Baro is coming

We just went over that.  The news was posted ~95 days beforehand and was available for 90 days.

kinda make the point you’re trying to make null and void.

My point is the info was available and you didn't pay attention to it.

    Both are facts.

If you want to be up to date on what's going on, check the "news" panel in game, that's why it's there.

  9. The problem with picking and choosing what is important or not is that it will vary from person to person.

    - If you deem contest results as unimportant, people who took part in the contest and want to know if they won or not would disagree.

    - There's people who are opposed to a Baro visit only for paying players, and would not like to hear about it if they won't take part.

    etc.

So I’ve read, however I’m not a “community activist”. I don’t visit the forums regular or follow twitters or check the news feed. And apparently I’m not the only one. Which is why if they had to add it to the news feed, they should have added it as a message to everyone’s inbox saying something like it’s the last week to purchase the ticket and then say what ticket gets you. It’s not like I’m asking them to overhaul the UI

I think that people who don't care about things like that might be annoyed by getting an inbox message for every news feed in that case.

Since, if people miss news because they don't check manually, all the news would be inbox messages...
