The problem is that DE dug their own grave by giving players the possibility to battle enemies of potentially  infinite level. Thing is, once you git gud enough to go through the highest level like it's a Casul playground it's obvious that you want another challenge. And when most players go beyond the magic 50 levels of balance it's obvious that they need to keep the customer playing and thus give in to power creep.

Another thing is that while the adjustments may work just as planned in the end, they're still badly executed for the current state because all we can do once we reach a certain point is fight broken with broken. Taking away our means to defeat enemies just results in even cheesier tactics and further metaforming. Same with the variety they want to have, why say that using X is bad but nerf the alternative. Why say trinity is a support frame but then make her better when solo? It makes little sense.

While that is true, that DE has poorly executed their changes, they do have a history of doing so(Viver gate, anyone?), so I'm actually not surprised by the communities reaction to the changes.

However, the mess that has been created is just so large at this point, that the only feasible way to tidy it up is to unfortunately make a temporarily larger mess; To throw things out of whack temporarily and run the risk of upsetting your players.

People are mad because DE balances for the starchart and apparently thinks that only 5 people and the queen of orange coconuts play further than level ~45.

    Spoiler

Haven't tested excal all that much but if I'm not mistaken his ult deals ~60% damage at max range so he's not really dead. The slide blind nerf is weird though.

Can't talk about Mesa cause I don't have her, they'll probably reduce the damage on her ult now that it scales but we'll see how it plays out.

Valkyr is still the same, just needs more energy and you need to clear up the area / ripline out of it.

Mirages nerf seems rather huge since I doubt she is played for damage, can't speak for myself cause I don't have her.

Never bothered to get Volt so I don't know how he is right now, he seems alright though. They should revamp his description tho since he's still not a damage frame

Trinity, not sure. Not happy about the range thing tho.

As for Mag, the rework would be fine if she kept her scaling. Because as we all know, having fixed damage values is not the best thing for frames if you want them to scale.

As for the bold statement, I just want to point something out here(not trying to counter anything said), many dev streams ago, DE once said that game balance decisions were based off enemies capping at lvl 50. Every balance choice they make is based off how well something can play against level 50 content. It's not that DE thinks nobody plays past lvl 45, it's that it's not intended for players to play past level 50 enemies and expect a balanced game. DE's endless content breaks this obviously, and up until now, they have just largely left it alone.

As for DE going ahead and creating content that exceeds their intended balance point(i.e. raids, sorties, even tactical alerts, etc.), that's a hole they dug themselves into to appease players asking for challenging content(I think it was said that balance decisions and such are made based on fighting lvl 50 content shortly before DE introduced raids), and I believe it is the sole reason why we are where we are right now.

I personally disagree with how DE went about appeasing players asking for challenging content as it went against how they were developing(balancing content) the game. I did not like how raids were introduced, or how the difficulty for tactical alerts was chosen because DE was creating content that was strictly 'broken' from it's incarnation, going against how they said they balanced their game.

Look at most of the content(weapons, warframes) we have in game. They all preform exceptionally well both solo and in a group in both the starchart and the void up to T3. Why? Because outside of endless missions, the content does not exceed lvl 50. It wasn't until players started asking for, craving, more challenging content(because we became too powerful for the balanced stuff) that we began seeing stuff that was not balanced and required cheesy tactics to get around. I won't say it was the introduction of T4 void, as I don't feel that T4 is unbalanced, but I also cannot point to one specific update where things shifted from balanced content with a very, very slightly unhealthy dose of power creep*, to having content that is broken right out of the box because it exists past the intended balancing point the devs set for themselves.

All in all, I guess I'm saying that I'm glad that it seems DE is finally taking a look at some of the core issues this game has had for a long time, and that it's unfortunate that it has taken this long because now we have the issue of too many players that are much too comfortable with their gear being able to break content. Give DE time, if they're serious about balancing the game, then these are only the first steps. It may make it slightly uncomfortable in the short term, but if DE can finally get it right, then the game will become much more enjoyable as we shouldn't need to ever 'cheese' content again.

*The slight power creep(and I do not like using that term here as it's slightly incorrect) came from many different things. Introduction of new mods like the dual status/elemetal mods, the longstanding serration/split chamber/heavy caliber combo, the fact that even with damage 2.0 elemetals still give a straight up boost to total weapon damage, ect. It was not as extreme as it is now, but it was there.

    Spoiler

Okay, that was a long post, sorry about that. Also, if any of it doesn't seem to flow coherently, I apologize for that as well. I'm a bit tired, a little hungry, and I had been interrupted a few times so my train of thought had been broken up a few times. This is just an opinion, from a player that has been around for roughly 11 major updates, and has witnessed all this come to fruition over that time period.

    Short answer: Ye

Longer answer: Yes, but it's not magically powerful. The Sybaris has better stats and reliably crits (with the Dex outperforming even further in a number of ways), while the Burston only boasts higher fire rate. It's fun to use, but not an overwhelming weapon.

Burston is also a status weapon. While you can build it for okay crits, it excels at status, like the Braton P.

I wouldn't underestimate the power of a status weapon that has a high base slash damage.

  4. The quest icon, along with a description of the next step in the quest, should automatically pop up on your alert window over the navigation section in you liset. If it doesn't then I'd try killing a few more of your target, just to make sure you've completed the requirement. Also, Baro's dialogue should activate as soon as you fulfill the requirements as well.

I'm not aware of any bugs like this regarding the quest myself, but I also don't think it's likely to be bugged.

    Looking good, man.

I don't have Ivara, though. But hey, that works, kinda

I still think it looks too clunky

Well, it certainly does enhance one of Ivara's assets quite well. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

On topic: I really don't see this syandana fitting only Vauban as anything different than Nova Primes syandana, it really only fits on Ember Prime.

Yeah, but what I'm arguing here is not whether "Warframes are sentient" is a possibility, I'm arguing about whether it's a good idea for DE to write the setting and story so that they are sentient. Because if they are, then using a Warframe is worse than slavery, and releasing a Warframe is abhorrent too, because it looks like they can't function without a Tenno.

Writing the game in such a way that:

    1. Warframes are sentient.

    2. Warframes are remote controlled.

    3. Warframes cannot fully function without a Tenno to do the controlling.

    4. Each Tenno has loads of 'frames, and the ones which aren't in use are put in cold storage.......

Can you see how this could be a problem?

I don't quite see the problem you're seeing. That's a very M rated theme for a game, and is very much the sci-fi space horror the OP thought DE had flushed down the toilet.

The Orokin themselves were not ethical in the least bit. All evidence points to this. They were more concerned about self preservation than ethical treatment of a living being created by their hands or not.

Thing is.....the boundary between gameplay and lore was only weakened by Second Dream, not reinforced. Before Second Dream, people could argue that being able to use multiple Warframes was just a gameplay conceit. Second Dream made it clear. No, there is one Tenno for your player account.

The final cutscene of Second Dream has the Lotus walking past an impaled Warframe without giving it a second glance. She doesn't care. The Tenno is what she looks to, what she takes care of.

Basically.....if DE want to now proceed with the idea that the relationship between Tenno and Warframe is symbiotic, and that we're talking about two minds in anything approaching equilibrium, then they have a lot of explaining to do. Second Dream was intended to resolve the gameplay/lore dichotomies, not create even bigger ones.

You have to remember that we still don't know what caused the warframe to break war. Some speculate that the lotus did it, some think it might have been our operator, and others think it was the warframe itself.

Codex entires do allude to and support the latter. Rhino prime in particular, shows that the warframes were rabid and beast like before the Orokin discovered transference. Chroma's quest involves a warframe that is moving about on its own, with no clear indication that it possesses sentience or if it's being controlled like our warframes.

But both of those do give enough evidence for us to speculate that the warfames themselves have the potential to be sentient. From Rhino Primes codex entry alone we know that the warframes are aware of their surroundings like an animal. If DE is going for a symbiotic relationship between operator and warframe, then it makes sense why the warframe broke war without the influence of the operator. It sensed that the operator was in danger, and acted accordingly. After all the time the warframes have spent being linked to our operator, it makes sense that they would feel attached to them, like a pet is attached to its owner.

Except we've always been able to swap around Warframes since the start and the Liset coupled with its multiple 'frame selector has existed prior to Second Dream. Plus Valkyr is a warframe accessible to everybody which opens up another can of worms concerning whether or not she's unique and the ability for everybody to obtain Valkyr is purely a game mechanic for fairness.

We're able to swap warframes around because of transference. Just because we're actually a kid on the moon and not the warframes themselves doesn't break the lore with acutally being able to swap frames. In fact it does the opposite and gives a valid, lore based reason for being able to do so other than just 'because game mechanics'.

Chroma's quest alludes to Warfames being active that are not Tenno(not actively allied with the Lotus and taking missions from her). We don't know if they are moving around of their own will, or if they have an operator controlling them. Remember, if the operators believe they're the warframe before the second dream quest, then the Chroma frame encountered in his quest could very well be controlled by an operator because the operator would believe that they are indeed Chroma. If you recall, the Lotus wakes us up at the beginning of the game, but elsewhere it's mentioned that the Grineer and Corpus have gotten to warframes before her(i.e., the original Valkyr). (The original Valkyr became Zanuka. Alad V cut it up and made a Frankenstein of a robot out of warframe bits, all the Valkyr's controlled by us are copies of what Zanuka used to be.) For all we know, waking the warframe up from that cryopod reactivates the transference link between it and it's operator. Perhaps the Lotus cannot make a connection with a Warframe and it's operator after that initial waking. We don't know as it hasn't been explained yet.

There's no probably about it. Get down to low health and your operator will talk about how much it hurts.

I think that option for the operators voice might be unchecked in my game, as I've never heard my operator speak in-mission, especially when getting low on health. That's why I said probably, also it hadn't been mentioned in this thread before I posted.

But it does make sense, their minds are linked to the warfames after all. Psychology has shown that our minds are incredibly powerful and capable of making us feel things even without physically experiencing it.

  10. 5 minutes ago, Wyzilla said:

A ton of stuff has been changed. Without Tenno actually being the Warframes themselves, all agency is removed. Those Warframes Alad V spliced together and disected? Boo hoo. It turns out they were just remotely operated avatars. There is no longer loss unless an enemy by shear luck stumbles across an operator.

Did... did you even play the second dream?

Because all of this was explained in that quest. The Tenno... the operators themselves thought that they were the warframes. But, to quote the Lotus, "It was just a lucid, second dream."

Transference basically allowed the operators to put their mind into the warframes to control them. If that's the case, then after a while wouldn't one naturally come to believe that they are what they see in the mirror, so to speak?

If that's the case, where they believe they're the warframes, then they probably feel all the pain the warframes endure while in a mission. Which means that absolutely nothing is lost when Alad V is involved. You have to remember, that before the second dream, the operators have no way of actually waking themselves up, they don't know that they're really asleep. So in Valkyr's instance, it could be speculated that the operator went crazy because they thought they were Valkyr, and being cut open and experimented on is something that would scar you mentally. I doubt Alad V had enough compassion in him to try and sedate the warframe before cutting it open, meaning the transference link between the warframe Valkyr and it's operator was still active the whole time.

    Tainted Mag + Magazine Warp + Wildfire == 66+30+20 == 2.16x Magazine Capacity.

    2.16 * 5 == 10.8
    5 * 1.3 == 6.5

how does Magazine Warp alone make any sense to get you to 13? you get 1.5rds from it.

I'm not understanding where you're getting the numbers. I thought 30% of 10 was 3? Is the math really not that simple for the games calculations?

Edit: and the chart on the Warframe wiki states that Laser Rifle prime gets two rounds from a max rank magazine warp.

  12. I'm going to be honest here again and say that I think part of the issue(at least, this is something that's been bugging me about this thread recently) has been the formatting recently. It's gotten worse since the forum upgrade. If you guys would take a bit of time to better format your posts, such as putting still images in spoilers(or all your images, if you're posting a bunch at a time), making sure text stays above and below images, and getting rid of all that unnecessary space, I feel it would go a long way to clean up the way the past few pages have looked. It gets tiring having to scroll and scroll to only view a few posts. Of course, some of it is due to the forum upgrade, such as the auto-double spacing when you hit enter.

This is but a humble request.
    tumblr_mdvhp47RWd1ru1wbho2_250.gif

But can we please try and clean the look up a little? I think it would go a long way in easing some of the frustration recently among all the friendly, harmless banter back and fourth.

  13. Had anyone ever stopped to think that maybe, just maybe, this weapon is a test of sorts for weapons with different firing modes?

Alternate firing methods, like quanta, are different from simply swapping the way the weapon fires(what I mean is, quanta's beam is basically an auto fire, the alt fire cubes, also function like and auto fire weapon). We've never had a weapon in game yet that can go full auto or semi. Maybe DE was testing out the code they wrote for such a function, and if this works out, in the future we might see more weapons that can swap between firing modes, like full to burst, or burst to semi, etc. I don't know, that's just what it kinda feels like to me.

A little more on topic though: I do agree with those that are saying it's a bit silly for the alt fire mode to not have different stats to account for it's shortcomings compared to its full auto mode. And also that the requirements to be able to build it are a bit ridiculous because there is seemingly no benefit to using the alt fire mode.
