  1. OP upvoted. i think DE should probably stop producing new stuff for a while (after sorting the hub out OMGILUVTHEHUB) and concentrate on balancing stuff since there have been so many changes in the last few weeks (syndicates, new mods, new frames, new enemies, new enemy levels).

i can appreciate that it will be difficult to appease everyone, but a balance pass is meant to make the game better in the long run, not keep the forum minority happy (some people will make sense but many just like to resist change). the way i see it, some weapons (and even frames, regrettably) are just mastery rank fodder i.e. rank to 30 and dump. why spend all that time and energy making all that wonderful gear just for us to throw away after leveling?

  2. totally not surprised that someone had to start a thread like this. in every single free-to-play game i've played and been on the forums, there's a thread about "pay-to-win", or "pay for power" like some people are saying in this thread (i hope you realise you're saying the same thing). also totally not surprised about seriously-misinformed people who believe that their opinion is the gospel truth and start insulting everyone else who doesn't agree with them.

by far, i have to say that warframe probably has one of the fairer payment models in recent free-to-play gaming history. all the equipment in-game that you might need, including potatoes, is farmable or obtainable through alerts or events (or "pay for time" like others have put it). and the purchasable currency can be traded between players, so there is no exclusive equipment that only paying players will get (so far) aside from founder/prime access bonuses. there're also cosmetic stuff and boosts, but those don't confer a stat advantage.

if one refuses to pay, they just need to spend more time farming for stuff and crafting. even the syndicate stuff can be grinded out. they will, however, also be forced to do some trading if they want to get other syndicate items. they'll also need trade for platinum for warframe and weapon slots in order to build their inventory up so they can play more mission types (hint to DE: make slots purchasable with resources and/or lots of credits).

to those constantly arguing that potatoes are only reliably obtainable through platinum, i guess no amount of arguing will convince you. moan away, despite the regular alerts and invasions (yes, they give potatoes too occasionally) and the fact that you can always trade for plat to buy them off the market.

all in all, i don't consider warframe pay-to-win/"pay for power", but non-paying players are forced to do some trading for platinum to get certain things. try playing some Nexon games if you want to know what pay-to-win is like, where you need real-life currency in order to get better stats or worse, just to progress in the game.

  3. yes, please add a button or option to equip a sigil across all loadouts and warframes. i have all frames (except limbo) and it is a major chore to open each frame up to change sigils if i've been promoted or want to level another syndicate.

i would actually also suggest that syndicate sigils be given a separate "slot" (where you find "gear" and "revives" in the arsenal) instead of having it buried beneath "warframe", then "appearance", then "regalia" then "front/back". please stop burying useful features underneath loads of menus! UI people need to simplify instead of making things pretty but slow to use >_<

  4. i've not really had any problems with them myself, unless they spawn at really high levels when i'm soloing. i just spin attack into them with melee (of course modded against corpus with magnetic and toxin) and they tend to go down quite quickly.

one thing i haven't had a chance to test is whether the field will cancel loki's invisibility. if it does, then it makes stealth gameplay on them nearly impossible, since other mobs tend to bunch up inside the field and block sneak attacks as well as physically getting in the way.

Fellow Tenno, I have discovered some new intelligence regarding our elusive adversary, John Prodman. It appears the Corpus are not averse to celebration (and probably Profit from it anyway). I have transcribed what appears to be a tune that the crewmen mumble in their helmets around The Holidays. It appears to be sung to the tune of "Rudolph, the Red-nosed Reindeer" from the degraded pre-Orokin archeological sound specimens we recovered. Extract as follows:

    John, pke Tij-ypiykep Prodman

You ktoj Ytejset atp MOAy atp Ospreyy atp yasetay

Tatjety atp Raptor atp Jackal atp Nef Anyo

    Tup po you teyapp..

    Youpp jo pokt it kiypoty!

After much research into the Corpus language, it translates into this:

    John, the Big-sticked Prodman

You know Crewmen and MOAs and Ospreys and cameras
Rangers and Raptor and Jackal and Nef Anyo
    But do you recall..
The most famous prodman of all?

    John, the Big-sticked Prodman
    Has a very shiny stick
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it's sick

    All of the other crewmen
Used to laugh and call him names
    They never let poor John
    Join in any crewman games

    Then one foggy Tennomas Eve
    Phorid came to say
John with your stick so bright
Won't you beat me up tonight?

Then all the crewmen loved him
As they shouted out with glee
    John, the Big-sticked Prodman
    You'll go down in history!

P.S. RavenousPartyLibrarian, yours totally deserves to win. Saadow, nice one too.

P.P.S. I couldn't read through all the pages so I hope I haven't plagiarised anybody. Good luck judging all the entries, DE!

  6. i don't get why people are complaining that it got slower. peacemaker's been sped up so much that it's getting a bit silly (though the energy drain seems faster as well). try holding down the mouse button in a full infested defense and see. you'll clear the room so fast that people will complain they can't get any shots in.

also, i did a bit of testing with natural talent on and off. there seems to be no difference in the maximum fire rate (which is ridiculously fast now), but i can't really tell if she "accelerates" more with natural talent on or not. i didn't manage to appreciate any difference in the  energy drain either. that said, natural talent does help with survivability by making the cast times really short.

in the end, my opinion is:

    - i like the new speed and mouse button hold change

    - after a while, i think i don't mind the new animation so much, coz of the new super-fast fire rate

    - i prefer the old punchier sound

    - i especially don't like that you need to release and reclick and hold to acquire new targets that have wandered in range

  7. at least you can just hold down the mouse button now instead of having to click a hundred times, and the shooting speed seems to go up the longer you hold it.

however, mesa will only shoot the enemies that are in range when you start holding the mouse button, so once she's killed them, she stops doing anything even if new enemies enter range. you have to release, press and hold the mouse button again to get her to start shooting. on the whole, the holding-mouse-button-down-to-shoot thing is good, and the gradual fire rate increase is OK (compared to previously when it might be randomly slow or fast), but the fact that you have to release and press the mouse button when new enemies get in range sort of defeats the purpose, since we're essentially doing what we did before the patch.

as for the "feel" of peacemaker, i have to say i prefer the old animation and sound. the new sound is much less punchy than the old one, and the whole "matrix" shooting-in-all-directions animation was really cool.

  8. a quick quality-of-life suggestion: the friends list should be more accessible and visible.

i appreciate that there's a certain look you're trying to achieve with the UI but having something that is an important part of a multiplayer game hidden so deep in the menu is annoying. why don't you make a panel in the liset like the "news" panel which shows active online friends, which we can activate to bring up the full list?

or merge the clan and friend screens into, perhaps, a "social" screen, and promote that up to the main menu so it goes "navigate" "equipment" "social" "mail" etc. (and why can't we send in-game mail to people?! you've implemented gifting from the market, let us send other items too. please.)

  9. yup, i've had this bug as well. only on mesa; i've not noticed this on other frames. been using valkyr loads for the survival mission and not seen it. i'm not sure about the trigger either, might be to do with mesa's skill 2 or 4, since i remember being able to melee crates at the start of missions, but after an engagement, i get the bug.

on trying to quick melee, mesa just unsheathes the weapon and resheathes it. and even after switching to melee, mesa won't attack. however, directional melee works in the air. happened with redeemer and ceramic dagger, not tested with other weapons.

  10. the last two warframes are situational and have underwhelming abilities, though they look very cool, have great concepts and definitely score on style, giving the impression that while design was spot-on, their abilities were kinda not thought through so well. maybe it's time to concentrate on new levels/planets/bosses while you think of new ideas for warframes?

  11. happened to me twice in the same node now. during the interception mission, if g3 tries to spawn (lotus telling us to get out etc.), there is no progress vote screen after getting 100% and killing all the mobs. g3 won't spawn either (possibly because there is no extraction point?). stays like this for an indefinite amount of time.

interestingly, if the host leaves, the vote screen then comes up after host migration and we can leave the mission without aborting.

  12. i used to love the jat kittag, but with the air mobility changes, i need to stand still to do the epic jump attack T_T

why don't you make it a toggle option so that players who want to ragdoll enemies with heavy weapons can go back to the old melee goodness?

edit: did more testing. so i need to look at the floor to do slam attacks. even a slightly diagonally downward aim will result in an air slash. getting a headache doing jump attacks now because i have to aim where i want to jump, then quickly look down to get the slam.
