I assumed the vent kids are only in Fortuna because their parents work there, obviously a worker in Fortuna has pretty hefty work hours so the vent kids just hang out and be delinquent.

Part of it might also be that some workers have implants specifically designed for particular work. If I remember correctly Ticker's bonds sometimes show info like that. It could be that the heads are put in the chest because that's overall the safest spot on a human body to put something, and then the worker gets a head relevant to their job, like the mining guy having a head that looks somewhat like a hard hat. Nef would be willing to spend some small amount of money to keep workers alive; if they die under the terrible working conditions of Fortuna then their debt can't be paid off.

But then what about their human limbs? I can see the head in the chest being the "safest" spot for it, but then why not give them a full robotic rig, what do the arms get them?

I just assumed that their heads are put in there by Nef's cronies in order to essentially hold the workers hostage. When you get interned they do the head swap, and then good luck going anywhere when you have to maintain a body with a head inside it.

It also would easily facilitate "brain-shelving" presumably, which from my understanding is a punishment where the worker doesn't get to have a body for a while.

But why the chest? Couldn't they have the heads just on the necks like normal? Like the vent kids?

  3. I gave it a chance

Sill hate it, because its still bad.

I understand some people had a real problem with limbo for "trolling"  I have never run into these limbos and from my perspective there were far, far, far, more damning ways to troll that should have been addressed first.

-Nyx's making defense missions go on forever.

-Volts making the game near unplayable by speed boosting everyone. (was previously fixed then revoked)

-Frosts placing bubbles everywhere that make all my bullets hit walls.

    -Vauban's spamming jump pads

-Limbo's banish making it hard to tell which enemies are in the rift because the visual effect is to subtle.

    - SPACE AIDS (seriously DE WHY IS THIS IN THE GAME, why is a bloody way to literally infect people with a disease that makes a giant ugly boil appear on their frames!? Who enjoys this?! )

So while I personally feel limbo was easily the more minor issue I can concede that he could be an issue, fine.

If they needed to allow allies to use their guns in the rift (even though melee and powers worked just fine), fine.

But why? Oh why? In a game about the rule of cool, did they make limbo have to follow those rules?

Stopping time, taking my shots, and then unfreezing time was a fantastic bit of fun and so very cool.

Now it's gone as is my desire to play limbo.

Limbo is now just an op dull frame, taking no thought or skill he mindlessly makes a giant bubble, stuns all the enemies (its not a time stop when everything else moves just fine), then shoots everything. With his earlier limitations removed it is even more obvious just how dull and 1 trick pony limbo is. Which is sad, because I loved limbo and was excited for limbo prime. Now I am tempted to just sell his slot.

  4. So ignoring the terrible changes to Limbo.

Well done on the quest DE, very enjoyable and excited to see more of the story!

    But,

I'm not sure giving us the worst sword in existence then making us fight a bunch of sentient with it was the right call. I have load outs and weapons that murder sentient by the dozens, but because of the mods it seemed like you wanted us to fight with that sword and umbra. Obviously this is NOT true because that sword does squat for dmg.

All my nikanas do more than it, and they don't have the super special mods it does! Trying to win with that sword was a nightmare! You made enemies super weak in the other story quests, why did you decide to make them strong and kill the buzz of feeling like a bad-ass I had?

  5. So I have never run into a troll limbo, and I have over 2000 hours in the game.

Not saying they dont exist, but it seems really unlikely that if limbo is such a prevalent problem, that I have never had the displeasure of experiencing it.

Or what I assume is the more likely option, when a limbo put up a bubble I either left it, or just pulled out my melee weapon and then thought nothing of it.

As such based on my personal experience (which is obviously not indicative of the whole community) these changes seems silly.

The whole reason limbo was given time powers was for the cool factor and now they are purposing taking that away? So now limbo is no longer the master of time, he just has an aoe stun. Which is boring.

I'm all for allies being immune to the bubble if its causing this much issue, but the nerf to stasis and the fact that limbo is also immune is to much.

This is not going to break limbo, (I easily melee everything in stasis to death already, so i wont notice the dmg buff from my guns)

And homogenizing limbos theme will make him that much less desirable to play. Honesty I wont really care about limbo prime if my bullets don't get frozen, letting me play out ZA WORLDO was half the fun of the frame!

And to bring it back around to the thread subject.

    Why is this just limbo?

Has no one dealt with a nyx on defense? There are plenty of ways to troll in warframe.

Hell forget the frames entirely. WHY IS SPACE AIDS STILL IN THE GAME!?

Space cooties is easily a bigger widespread annoyance and troll tactic than limbo.

  6. Not sure if this is intentional but when I hit a slow mine on an archwing rush mission I am slowed while the tether is on me, but once it breaks I move faster than my archwing has ever flown before. I seem to move in the normal slow flight animation but move so fast the world becomes a blur.

I tried this multiple times with different archwings and got the same results

    Specifically tried this on phobos.

  7. Love the new update, what I loved even more was no longer having any lenses on any of my frames or guns.

It made me happy... so very happy.

No pop ups, no annoying sounds effects, no running back 8 rooms to pick up a stupid orb that spawned no where near me. No reminder that this mechanic was even still in the game.

    blissful silence.

But now I actually WANT to earn focus again, if only to buff my operator; and I do not wish to compromise this new convergence orb free existence to do so!

So DE I beg you, let use turn the orb notifications off. I will even settle for you still keeping the stupid mechanic in the game, just let me ignore it! Make it a blanket command, no popups of any kind!

That way I can put lenses on all my stuff again and still enjoy this blissful peace.

  8. Nice idea, bad execution.

I could write pages on what i felt went wrong, why it went wrong, and how to fix it, but ultimately no one will read it so here is the highlights.

    - Decent idea for a boss fight, but playing as the operator was one of the worst things added to the game and still is one of the worst things. So making that fight only playable as said operator was a bad call. (Were never going to be rid of playing as the operator are we? Seriously who thought anyone wanted this? They were a cool cosmetic option and mouth for the story but COMBAT as them!? We have warframes for that!)

    - Story is a bit weak without any really juicy lore bits, its mostly a bunch of guess work on the players part. I think they were trying to go for a sympathetic story about an autistic kid and how he was bullied, but am I the only one who sees the irony that to succeed in the mission we have to constantly beat up the autistic kid?

    - Nice try at a spooky atmosphere during the early missions, but hard to be scared when i'm in my super suit. THIS would have been a good time to make us play as the operator and make us feel vulnerable... *sigh*

Love ya DE but everything since the second dream has been pretty lackluster in the main quest story department.

    EDIT:

    Spoiler

I wrote this down right after finishing the quest line. So after I submitted this post I turned around in my ship and saw the ghost me sitting on the codex and just about had a heart attack. Well played DE well played.

Can we talk about how the tonkor is literally broken now? 3m arm distance? no, it still murders you point blank. my 6k dmg tonkor now does 300dmg, how? Nothing was mentioned about damage modifications

UI scaling is completely screwed. Why is it an increased size and "100" scaling?

is it a crit build? they took a hacksaw to its base crit chance.

Alright, having played a few rounds at various levels as limbo since this update, I can now honestly say that I'm less than impressed.

The primary reason for that is the fact that bringing enemies into the Rift is now egregiously complicated.  Previously, you could just hit a button and bring them in, but now you have to come out of the Rift (flying uncontrollably across the room, no less, skewing your aim), hit the button, then come back into the Rift (again, flying across the room for no reason), and then you can fight the one enemy that you wanted to fight, along with several that were just there.  This was clearly done to balance the new lack of time limit to your being in the Rift, but ultimately it just makes the whole system fail.  Additionally, I would consider the multiple enemies banished at once a fair compensation for that, since you're now bringing the whole battle into the rift, as opposed to just one or two selected enemies that either interest you or look like they'd be trouble for your friends.  Sure there's a knockdown effect on banishing, but that's not helpful since by the time you get back in the Rift, and situated with your new position, they'll already be back up and raring to go.  I understand that there's some concern about Limbo never exiting the Rift, and never doing anything to help a team, but with this convoluted Banish setup, that's precisely what your're encouraging.

I've implied an additional problem with the 'dodge-to-enter-the-Rift' system.  That was a good idea, in theory, and the lack of time limit and energy cost is nothing if not enticing, but when you're not moving, and you want to hop to the other plane of reality it's rather annoying to suddenly be thrown to some other point on the map.  Now, since I almost never roll in most of my frames (the slide does about the same thing, but more controlled) using this button would be fine.  However, if I"m not moving, I...don't want to move just to enter the Rift.  So, if pre-existing motion could be considered in that setup, that would be much better. a stationary shift would also reduce the problems with Banish, as it would make more efficient shifts, and therefore the necessary shifts to conduct a banish would be much more doable.

As far as Stasis goes, I definitely dig the idea for it; time-stopping is always fun, but it feels a touch at odds with the rest of his moveset.  Also, the enemies under its effect can still turn, which is odd, but I think that's a glitch more than anything else.  Those are really my only issues with this, and ultimately I don't put too much weight on the first one.

The new Rift Surge is interesting; it's supposed to be a way for us to get people into the Rift even if we're still in the Rift.  The trouble I have with it is that to use it, we still have to go through the whole process to get someone in the Rift before we can do this.  And with Banish now effecting multiple targets, most of the targets will already be in the Rift by the time that Rift Surge is used.  Perhaps this problem changes form in extremely high levels (I've yet to do any sorties), but from what I've seen, this Rift Surge isn't the most useful of abilities.

Limbo has always been about control over who can and/or will do battle with him, and I feel that he's lost quite a bit of that in this update.  I think these issues could be fixed with either a stationary riftwalk, or by allowing Banish to work on enemies in the other plane.  Or both of these solutions.  That would work too.

Thanks, and I look forward to trying out the rest of the new material.

    With you 100%

I was stating these problems before limbo came out, sadly it seems very few people want to listen. They just want to stop time.

  11. Her 4th ability has nothing to do with her theme, it should be moved to a different frame.

the dodge buff is not a buff to the dodge manuver I meant to say its an evasion buff like titanias, enemies will miss more oftten.

I am fine putting her current 3 on her new 4, i just felt it was more thematic, but her current 4 still has no place on Nyx, it doesnt fit her theme, it doesnt meld with her other abilities, its just there. Its like if valkyr had an ability that gave her the ability to give her teamates heat vision... thats cool, and its not broken... but it has nothing to do with the frame. Nyx is about being psychic, what is psychic about her 4 other than the way she sits and floats in the air?

  12. Still a little salty about limbo but Im glad De changed him up a little more from their first announcment of the reowork to adress some of the major problems. Otherwsie this all seems like a bunch of really good changes.

    Thanks DE Nice Job!

Those graphics settings ... Do you have everything at low or turned off? :D

Re: Flying with Zephyr - the other thing is that Tailwind only allows you to fly straight up or parallel to the ground. That ability is worse than bulletjump! I really hope @[DE]Grineeer will do her next, after Limbo got his rework. But I wouldn't even know where to start ...

Sadly recording warframe at full details would shut my machine off, low graphics is the only setting I could record at. And that is a very good point I hadn't even thought of.

Sums up all my problems with this frame.

    Also funny.

    +1

Also remove spoilers tag, this should be obvius to anyone anyway :P

Glad someone liked it, and thanks for the advice.

  15. I made a review of Zephyr for fun and to explain my points clearly to my friends.

Feel free to take a look and tell me how much i suck.

  16. Nyx is one of the frames i look at fondly and always wonder what if...

    latest?cb=20130130165524

Shes not a bad frame compared to many others and not one in dire need of a rework, but i still pine for the greener grass and so figured it was worth posting here to see what yall thought of my ideas.

The problems with nyx right now is that her first 2 abilities are not very powerful, her kit doesn't fit with her theme of being the psychic mind breaker as well as i would like, and nekros steps on her toes a bit ( fear = chaos, shadows of the dead > mind control) So my rework aims to address this.

This rework will use a new mechanic given to nyx similar to Niduses mutations. For the sake of simplicity im going to call it Psychic stacks, though a better name could be derived. The way it works is nyx gains stacks of this up to 100 passively over time, the counter accelerates though based on how many enemies are currently in her vision. (how fast this would be is up for debate, ideally it would not be to fast as to make stack trivial but not be to difficult that it is impossible to get 100)

    Passive: Mind Trick

Enemies do not become aggressive towards nyx allowing her to move around free and unmolested until she performs an aggressive action. Cameras and laser grids are immune to this and will sound the alarms if they notice her which will make all alerted enemies aggressive to her.

Ability 1: Dominate (its mind control)

This ability effects a single enemy and converts them to Nyx's side. It does not have a timer associated with it anymore and the effected unit gains Nyx's shields as well as a boost to damage based on nyx's power strength and how many psychic stacks she currently has.

( this will hopefully make posses units more useful then they are currently without the need to equip her augment, it also differentiates her from nekros who summons a disposable hoard on a timer. Nyx converts a useful individual, a partner in crime.)

    Ability 2: Command

Nyx delivers orders to her dominated unit. Pressing 2 while looking at an enemy will command her dominated unit to move and attack the enemy. Targeting a bit of floor will command the dominated unit to move and stay there, attacking any unit that enters in its line of sight. Targeting a control console will have the dominated unit move and hack the console for you, and holding down 2 will call the unit back to following you and attacking units near you.

( this adds to the idea that nyx controls a useful individual giving her strategic control and a real feeling of dominating the mind of this poor soul )

    Ability 3: Mind Meld

All allies in a set area around nyx gain a dodge buff based on how many allies are also near nyx as well as how many psychic stacks she currently has. The ability lasts for a set duration and is effected by power duration.

(this simulates the allies being able to sense each other and communicate psychically, giving them eyes in the back of their heads, hence the dodge. This could stay as Chaos, but i felt Chaos and my suggested 4th ability overlapped to much.)

    Ability 4: Executive Order

In an area around Nyx all enemies put their guns to their heads and kill themselves. (Infested break their own necks?) Every enemy effected consumes a psychic stack.

( i know the last ability just turns her into another ash but hopefully the slow drip feed of psychic stacks will stop her from just murdering everything constantly. I wanted to keep chaos but i felt it was less useful with this in play, and i just felt this was more dramatic and fun.)

So what do you guys think,?

  17. The war within had an amazing start with the new tile set, cutscenes, and even the music but that greatness started to fall off near the end.

    Pros:

    - awesome cut scenes

    - cool new location

    - get to see my operator more!

    Con:

    - while we get more backstory the war within leaves more questions then answers, why are the queens slugs? Whats the thing on the staff? Who is talking to me at the end? Why is letting teshin take his revenge the bad option? What are all these things i was rewarded with at the end? Why would I ever step out of my warframe? Most of the story is just really vague at points and while I can connect the dots I would have preferred a more detailed story or at least explanation like in The Second Dream. The queens especially needed a biger build up.

    - My operator. They are useless. Im not sure what DE's plan for this new operator mode it but it seems like a waste of code. Besides the fact that it grants you a stealth option (thereby hurting the use of stealth frames like loki even more) and the fact that you are forced to use your operator now vs certain enemies, its just a weird and ultimately useless feature added to the game.

     - Why cant I pick if i want to be a warframe or my tenno on my ship, rather then having to press 5 every time I come home then walk all the way back to the front?

    - bugs, had to restart the game twice because the quest refused to move forward.

Ultimately I give this update a 6/10 its above average, there is a lot of interesting and cool stuff on display here but  the quest itself and the treasures unlocked by it are just unrewarding and have little to no impact for me. Though I still want to thank DE for the update as I can appreciate the obvious effort they put in, even if it missed the mark.
