Synapse Or Flux?

So I am stuggling to choose between these 2 weps. Just got to rank 6 2 days ago and was thinking about building one of these 2 (Only 1 of them, low on credits) , which one should I get? I know Synapse electrical damage makes it inferior to the flux in terms of fighting grineer and infested but can that 100% crit make up for it? Which one would you build and why?

Its really up to you entirely, since the Synapse when built with a crit build, deals most damage to Corpus making it inefficient in high levels of Grineer and Infested, the Flux rifle, when built with a crit build, will do less damage than the Synapse but it can be very usefull against ALL factions.

one does not simply "crit build" a flux.

Synapse, because 300 damage from it's crits which should be all the time with +crit chance mod VS 200 base damage is higher. 
Also Flux requires really precise aiming at short-mid range from what wiki says since it's a "thin short range laser"

Ever tried using the Synapse?

It's quite thin.

 

Yes, the Flux has a thin laser, but with a range of 25m, you won't find it hard to aim at a close target.

The Synapse has a very similiar range (24m) and more damage thanks to it's constant crit with a decent Point Strike mod.

Plus, when the Synapse is fired through Volt's Electric Shield, not only does it get infinite range (like the Flux) it also gets RED crits constantly.

If you've made a crit build that is.

 

The Synapse CAN be effective against everything.

I've used it for high level infested, somewhere in the 70 ranges, and it's still been fine.

This thing can instakill most Corpus at level 80 and below with a single CLICK instead of a constant stream.

However, it falters against high level Grineer, due to Electricity not being that important, and Infested, thanks to their resistance.

From what you just type, I can see you have no knowledge on this matter at all.

Synapse electric damage doesn't ignore armor, as a result, 250 crit damage (Not 300) from Synapse won't be doing anything but a massage for Grineer and Infested

Flux on the other hand is armor ignore as well as deal triple its normal damage against infested.

The only way that allow Synapse to compete with Flux is to play it with Volt exclusively as Synapse+ Volt's electric shield give it red crit to offset armor.

Considering prices and effectiveness i would build the Flux first.

 

Keep in mind that DE said they are gonna buff Synapse, Ichors and Embolist...

 

And also keep in mind that armor/dmg 2.0 is coming and we cant know which will come out more powerful from it.

 

1 thing is sure: actually Flux is cheaper and better than Synapse (except against corpus)

Electric damage is actually better than bullet damage against Grineer, it has a 1.25 modifier before armor. Obviously not as good as AI, of course.

Electric damage is what, 1/2 damage to lesser Infested, and still deals 100% to Ancients legs/arms. Not a huge impediment if you dont mind aiming, and the lessers are squishy as hell anyways.

 

A higher base damage means a higher elemental component from installed mod cards. Because AP is only 60%, you'll never surpass the armor piercing + armor ignoring damage done by the flux rifle. However, you will deal significantly more electric, cold, and/or fire damage than the flux can put out.

 

Basically the Synapse is better DPS against Corpus (BY FAAAAR), worse dps against Grineer (by a considerable margin, but better at burning down shields), and better against Ancient Infested if you aim, worse if you dont.
