Callback
Players have begun arguing over other players not attempting finishers on liches when they either do not have or do not know the runes to even make a decent guess. The reason for not making this attempt is reasonable, you don't want to level it up for no reason. And the players complaining to just stab it and remove it from the mission have a point as well. They want their own to be able to spawn, and the active lich is preventing that. So how about another option to remove a lich from the mission without attempting a takedown? Interacting with a downed lich in operator form uses void energy to banish them from the mission, despawning them and granting some progress towards discovering a rune. This gives a much more active way to deal with unwanted liches, a reason to engage them before you're ready to attempt a requiem, and a way to remove them from a mission to allow other players' liches to spawn. SenorClipClop
Reb tweeted that in upcoming patches they're planning to make attempts at a Lich more worth it: Attempting to kill a Lich rewards some Murmur progress. Correctly guessing a Phrase unlocks that phrase, significantly reducing the Murmur grind. Right now the only reason to try a Lich before finishing your 150-Thrall slaughter is the incredibly small off-chance you have of getting all Phrases right before even knowing all of them. Otherwise your death is for nothing. That's why people tend to leave their Lich sticking around. Edited November 4, 2019 by SenorClipClop
