Theory crafting Gauss’ speed builds with new helmith

Recommended Posts

So, as everyone knows the new helmith will allow warframes to substitute one ability for another. Of the abilities we know for sure, three of them give a buff to sprint speed, something I know fellow Gauss mains are salivating over. However, which of these three abilities will be better?

The confirmed (or as confirmed as they can be given it was a dev build) abilities are Sayrn’s Molt, Nezha’s Firewalker and the new helmith ability “Infested Speed.”

Currently, the arsenal shows that Gauss can reach a sprint speed of 2.54 with all sprint mods and amalgam serration. Ignoring mods like Dispatch Overdrive, Runtime and the Kokage prime, whose values dont show in arsenal, we will use this value as a baseline to scale the new possible abilities.

The biggest issue for these tests is whether the buffs are based on final sprint values or base values. Ill do both calculations for simplicity.

Firewalker: Grants a 25% speed buff, does not scale with strength

A gauss with 2.54 would be:

2.54+(1.4*.25)=2.89  OR

2.54+(2.54*.25) =3.18

Molt: Grants a 1.5x speed multiplier, scales with strength. As an aside, Im not sure if this 1.5x means a 150% speed buff or a 50% speed buff, meaning total speed would be 150% or 1.5x. Ill again do both calculations (or 4 in total) just to cover all ground. At 2.54:

2.54 + (1.4*1.5)=4.64 OR

2.54 + (2.54*1.5)= 6.35 OR

2.54 + (1.4*.5) = 3.24 OR

2.54 + (2.54*.5)= 3.81

Infested Speed: 35% speed, scales with strength

2.54 + (1.4*.35) = 3.03 OR

2.54 + (2.54*.35) = 3.43

Now, even though values alone show Molt well above the others, we still have to consider other factors like energy cost, duration (molt lasts 5 seconds base vs firewalkers 30) etc, but what do you all think? Are there any other abilities that might be possible to give helmith that would help gauss? Obviously Volt speed is out of question, and I doubt wisp motes will be allowed, what else is there?
