If You Buff Shock, Volt Might Actually Be Worth Using

Seriously, his other powers aren't even close as pathetic as Shock currently is. A dmg buff to Shock alone is enough to get me and possibly many others playing Volt for more than just speed runs, as his other powers while may need work, are still useful in some way

Thoughts?

Well the main problem is that Volt is too much of a specialist character.

He only really functions against the Corpus.

Not just because of his electrical damage, but because his Overload only does noticeable damage when it has the massive amounts of lights and secuirty camera's to explode that are present on corpus ships, but not on grineer asteroids.

Not only that but there are only two primaries worth using on Volt that synergize with his electric sheild, and that's only because it's a hard-coded interaction with the sheild.

So why play a character that's a nuker, only good against the Corpus when using one of two weapon? Especially when you can play the Jack of All Trades Nukers: Saryn or Nova.

Damage 2.0 will hopefully fix most of this, but Volt's problems run MUCH MUCH deeper than needing a simple numerical buff on shock.

Copy/Paste of what I post in every Volt thread:

Fixing VOLT is a simple process, DE just needs to listen to the right feedback.

SHOCK:

● Buff the damage to a respectable number, this may vary depending on how helpful the upcoming damage/armor rework is.

● Improve the stun, an electrical ability should be a reliable taser, especially when its damage falls off in higher level content.

SPEED:

● Perfectly fine as is. (Especially since teammates don't get spanked with a bunch of FOV anymore.)

● Also, it's not necessary, but boosting VOLT's base sprint speed to 1.1 or 1.15 would be a welcome change.

ELECTRIC SHIELD:

● Allow Shield to be Stretched, (if it still can't). [Also, I noticed that Shield itself doesn't seem to know its own size, I can cast 2 in a row right next to eachother with them being vastly different sizes.]

● Let it be compatible with +Power Strength, (Focus & Storm Helmet), Roar & Sonar are and they aren't restricted to Electric damage.

● Stun enemies that come into contact with it.

OVERLOAD:

Return the animation to how it was before, short & sweet.

Currently, the animation is just waaay too long to be effective, it's ridiculous. (The animation was recently changed, unsure if it still causes a crazy amount of unnecessary hangtime.)

OVERLOAD would become more useful & unique if VOLT was only midair for the first few moments of the ability, then free to move while nearby electronics get overloaded with electricity.

Yes, I agree with Flackenstein, he hits everything right on the nose including the Volt sprint speed buff.  If I cast Speed, a lot of the time my teammates just rush waaay ahead of me and leave me behind, especially if they're one of those obnoxious maxed Rush Lokis or Novas or other fast frames.  Hell, even a maxed rush Vanguard Rhino.  I have to run with a near maxed or maxed Rush just to keep up with my teammates when I cast Speed, it's not pretty.

As for Overload, the animation did get changed, but it's still way too long and it makes you float in the air out of cover, and the damage is pathetic and the stun unreliable.  So the crossed out portion still remains true.  The Volt's my favorite frame so it makes me sad that he's useless in the endgame and at high levels except as a convenience frame that can add speed buffs and maybe the shields if the situation can make use of them.

Seriously... Nothing's going to happen to volt until after damage 2.0

A large amount (not all I know..) of the complaints are his damage. Armor's getting brought into line, resistances are being rebalanced, let's just wait till they get the new damage system under control before we spam the forums with complaints. DE can only do so many things at once... *grumbles about Loki STILL not cloaking his sentinels even though they confirmed it as a bug ages ago and said they were working on it ;-; *

also Volt should always be run with shade... his shock is way more useful when you're invisible and it doesn't disrupt your cloak xD

his ult is -quite- safe to use with shade!

so yeah...

ease up for a bit please. after damage 2.0 comes out feel free to tell DE they killed your dog
