Melee Achievement From Necramech Non-Melee Attacks

I was doing Falling Glory on Venus Proxima when I got the "The 8-fold Path" achievement. This achievement states "Survive 8 waves of Defence using only melee attacks" - I wasn't using melee, I was in my Necramech (and not using it's melee at all). From my perspective it seems the game is treating any attack from Necramech as melee combat.

 

Not entirely sure where this post should go as it's achievement related but I got it during a mission. I'm also not sure if it's a bug or if it's intended.
