why are there no fun primary arcanes?

True. Kitguns have it but they have their own special arcanes that they can use alongside another arcane. Still would be interesting to be able to mix and match arcanes on a weapon based on whether they provide bonus damage or other effects. 

Modular arcanes could be something depending on how you'd go about that? 

Another thought is that Deadhead / Merciless / Dexterity also get an extra effect when you fully max them out (deadhead's headshot multiplier and recoil reduction, Merciless' bonus reload speed and Dexterity's bonus melee combo duration), so it'd be interesting to see something like that on other arcanes as well, like Plated Rounds offering +50%-100% ammo capacity at max rank so you can aim for higher damage on an empty reload, or Frostbite / Blight offering a 10%-20% chance on status effect to also inflict cold / toxin at max rank. Would make it much more worth it to seek out and fully upgrade arcanes, and would make arcanes aside from the acolyte ones more viable.
