Gr33hn
Doesnt really matter, in the end you will most likely have levelled all the frames to 30. Take which ever appeals to you the most. I personally though find Excalibur more fun to play.
RedDirtTrooper
If you like playing lots of survival, mobile defense or defense against grineer or corpus, then Frost is your better bet. Excaliber is better for almost anything else. Frost was a one trick pony before update 11 and once they get that pushed out to you guys on the PS4 it will just get even worse.Basically frost is a very important frame for defense style missions(defense, mobile defense, and survival) against corpus or grineer because of his snow globe skill(Don't use it against infested, everyone will think you're an idiot and they'll be right, it's only real use is against enemies who shoot at you and infested don't). Many frost users don't even bother equipping any of his other skills due to their low damage and general lack of usefulness. So frosts job is to sit in one defensive spot and make sure that snow globe never goes down against enemies who shoot at you. He keeps the whole team and/or the objective alive, and if he doesn't do his job the team will probably fail quickly. Because of his specialization he's a sub optimal performer in any mission that requires lots of movement, because he's slow and his only good skill is a stationary one, or that requires him to do damage, since none of his damage skills are worth equipping(especially after update 11).Excaliber on the other hand has three really useful skills, and an ultimate that, if not useful, at least some people find fun. His slash dash is probably one of the best first slot skills in the game, super jump is just a joy to use and lets you access areas that many other frames can't or at least access them more quickly and easily, and radial blind is very good crowd control. His armor and shields are well balanced as is his base speed. Edited November 29, 2013 by RedDirtTrooper
Phoenix86
Excalibur is more of an all-arounder frame, i suggest you to start with him
vengfulr3ap3r
I am also putting in my vote for Excalibur. It was the frame I started with and it's rather balanced if truth be told.
NotSerious
While I can't disagree with what the pro-excalibur camp are saying in terms of excalibur having more diversity and varied use, having started to play both a little later in game (levelled mag, then rhino, then trinity, then ash before getting silly and starting to float around multiple frames) I've found frost to be an easier start. He's a little tankier and thus more survivable, at lower levels his meh special ability damage still does the job (which is either kill stuff, or at least get you out of trouble by stopping it from killing you), the snow globe, while a one trick pony, is a very nice trick pony and pretty much always has a place in defense, mobile defense (which is sometimes one of the tougher missions when you first go through a system), and even in survival (as well as for reviving teammates). Although he shines against grineer and corpus, the slowdown effect on infested helps out at the earlier levels. As a first frame, you don't have toworry about endgame - there will be plenty of other warframes. The only caveat is his speed - he is S-L-O-W. If you have a clan, or friends to play with who will wait for you, or if you tend to orient well in game space and don't obsess about opening or exploring everything then you should be ok - but it can suck having a slow frame in a PUG where everyone else is flying through the tileset. (PSN)Twisted_Limits
Decided to go with Frost to start. Really tanky and I hit mastery 2 before I ever left Venus farming that first defense mission. Double affinity boost ftw. Sucks I cant continue playing until the mastery test timer is up. Does the mastery continue leveling? or is it a waste to play until I finish the test?
