Lavos with Valence Formation not damaging Profit Taker sheilds

I just had a brilliant idea, Use Lavos with Valence Formation and he should be able to take down any shield Profit taker throws at us.  Wrong..... Bummer.... Seems like a bug.

I hit him with Nataruk after applying the proper elemental type, I see it hit with the proper damage, but it is greyed out.  Wiki says it should work : "Can damage the Profit-Taker Orb's shields, allowing Lavos to adapt when she changes her elemental weaknesses."

Augment mod reads : "Passive Augment: Upon Ability cast, applies the Ability Element as 200% Elemental Damage to your weapons with guaranteed Status for 20s."  Where it states that it applies it as elemental damage to the weapon, not just as a status, this should definitely work per the wording. 

While typing had a thought, Could it be Nataruk?  I'll test and report back.

EDIT : Tried it with the Cedo and it was random if the Elemental damaged the shields or not.

Same today on PC. I used Strun prime incarnon, Kuva Nukor, Dual Kamas prime, Mausolon. Valence formation didn't work at all for me, I was only able to damage the shields when my weapons' modded elements were in the cycle.
