Seismic Bond, Clarification?

Hi all, first post. This may be a stupid question, but does a channeled Ability need to be active for the second half of Seismic Bond to trigger? Specifically the part about damage from Companions increasing Ability Efficiency, would this portion trigger regardless of if a channeled Ability is active or not.

Yes

P.S: It's easy to know if its working, when it's working a buff icon appears in the buffs area.
