Warframe Idea: Jaeger

Partly inspired by our very own resident comic relief Spysweeper242, Jaeger the hunter is a new trapper-type Warframe somewhat akin to Vauban. Unlike Vauban, however, Jaeger's snares are less about merely hindering the target and more about harming them outright.

 

Appearance-wise, where Vaubann looks like a bearded old hunter in a winter coat, Jaeger looks more like a non-bearded slightly less old man dressed for hunting in a more temperate forest or jungle area. Point is he should still have a very "hunter" look to him while still looking distinct from Vauban.

 

Stat-wise, he's got decent HP and shields but low to medium armor and decent stamina/running speed; balanced less toward direct confrontation and more toward screwing up his prey with his traps then coming around to finish them off himself.

 

Abilities are as follows:

 

1- Sensor Mine- places a small explosive on a surface that detonates when an enemy comes in range, dealing blast damage and possibly knocking them to the ground. Upgrading increases blast radius and sensitivity range.

(Alternate idea could be something akin to a bear trap of some sort, though I couldn't think of a way to make that sound practical)

 

2- Caltrops- Fills a circular area in front of Jaeger with caltrops that cause anyone that walks in them to take puncture damage and have their speed reduced. Puncture damage is cumulative the longer an enemy remains in the area of effect, but the speed debuff remains for a limited duration after the subject leaves the area. Has the same shortcoming as Hallowed Ground in that it doesn't affect flying units that don't make contact with the ground. Upgrading increases area, damage, and slow debuff duration.

 

3- EMP net- Throws an electromagnetically-charged metallic net in a low arc. Enemies caught in the net are temporarily stunned in addition to receiving electric and magnetic damage with guaranteed disruption proc. Enemies under the net can still shoot after the initial stun wears off, but will not be able to leave the net until it wears off and are subject to disruption while the net is in place. Upgrading increases the size of the net, allowing it to potentially capture multiple targets at once.

 

4- Razor wire- Fills the area around Jaeger with a web of near-invisible razor-thin metallic strings that slow and deal slicing damage with high chance of bleed to all enemies within the area of effect. Effects are cumulative the longer an enemy remains within the area of effect- their movement will continue to slow until they are immobilized and the DOT slicing damage will increment exponentially until they die or manage to escape the trap, whichever comes first. Upgrading increases speed at which effects accumulate.

(Alternate: effect escalation is relative to subject's proximity to the center of the area of effect rather than to time spent within the area, though effects do not decrease by moving closer to the outer edge, only by leaving the area entirely)

 

 

So there you have it. Might still need some tweaking or balancing out a bit, but hopefully the idea itself isn't too bad. What do you all think?

 

(P.S. No, Spy, this technically isn't your idea, but thanks at least for sort of providing inspiration for it. Here's to your future on these forums, may you learn to make good serious ideas yourself that you may leave a better legacy than the likes of Derf Anyo.)
