Gunblade!

Thought it would be cool to have a gunblade weapon, either for melee or pistol ^^

or perhaps both, so it becomes one huge 16 slot weapon capable of wielding both melee and pistol mods ^^.

Function wise Glaive and Kestrels are pretty much "gunblade" as they can perform melee and "shoot" the enemies. Design wise, Gunblade isn't exactly special anymore and any developers or concept artist can easily thought about it. So if DE want to make gunblades we have already seen one now.

In Final Fantasy IIX, at least, it's explained that these things -don't- actually shoot bullets. The rounds they're loaded with are blanks, and the important part is timing the "shot" so that the blade suddenly jolts in the middle of cutting a person. Think a vibro-blade from Star Wars, on a much more simplistic scale. That said, a melee weapon that has a mechanic where you have to reload every few swipes for a massive damage boost on the first enemy cut with each slash is cool, and it adds variety. If you need proof, note that that secon image has a few "Exhaust ports", so that the escaping gas from the round would shoot at the target, not barrels for bullets.
