It's an API used in games, basically. You need it for most games to function properly.

 

It's like... Dunno, an encyclopedia - you don't need to remember every single information about everything, since you have this in the book and you can use this anytime you want. Same here, the game uses certain things from DX to work, it doesn't need to have all of the rules and whatnot programmed in the core, since it can use the ones present in DX.

Hi tenno, today I wanna ask something that has been living in my mind from a couple of days ago, what is the real function of the DirectX? Do it improve my game experience and things like that? I'll appreciate your answers.

Directx is the technology that the game uses to create all of the graphics that you see on your screen.
