Updates On Ps4 And Xb1

The updates might get pitched at the same time, but from that point onward it's all in the hands of Microsoft and Sony, and which of the two that finishes the screening process first.

It may vary which one that gets which update first, or it may be completely one-sided if one of the two has a more efficient screening procedure.

It remains to be seen, but know that whichever one that gets the updates first, even if DE pitches the updates separately (which they may have to do for technical reasons), it won't be DE's fault if one is quicker than the other.

Theoretically, the port on DE's side is pretty much the same. The updates should fit in neatly as any code that varies between the 2 versions IE key bindings, performance of the two machines etc will be in the initial port and is less likely to change in further patches. Update code therefore should be quite simple, most of it can probably be copy and pasted but requiring some tweaking probably.

After that though its up to MS and Sony to cert it, who knows if they'll be in sync at that point.

A comment by the PlayWarframe YouTube channel said that the plan was to roll them out at the same time. Releasing the updates at the same time is probably the best idea.

They "planned" it. But that doesn't always go to plan, tis why ps4 has to wait for an exec to say "derp yah do it derrrr." before anything can be done lol.

To be fair, we may see some quicker cert on both ends potentially. MS and Sony traditionally compete over everything, they'll probably try and gain a reputation as faster to receive updates so we might see both MS and Sony cert the updates faster. Downside is it could also rush cert and leave bugs in if DE miss anything.

If one system get it before the other, that is the company that owns the systems choice. SONY has shown it will probably get all updates last.

Actually no it isn't an executive staff member's decision (even if it were all they would care about is getting the update out as soon as possible, they wouldn't want to delay it for any reason). It's in the hands of the certification team whose only concern is "Does this break the console in any way? No? Good. Here's the greenlight for the update, it's been pushed to PSN." Microsoft and Sony don't tell DE how fast they're allowed to develop/port updates. It's not like one company is going to say "No hold the update because our rival company is blocking us."

Now that they have to compete, it's basically who throws the most money faster at that point lol.

No. That isn't how it works at all. They don't have to compete whatsoever. DE will be developing the ports as fast as they can, and once the ports are done they get shipped to cert. At that point it depends on how backlogged the certification team of the respective console is and how rigorous the certification testing is or how long it takes.

Throwing money around wouldn't do anything in this situation.
